  1. thanks alot guys im getting a lot better at casting after about a week of practice. i go to the casting ponds near my house and am getting a good mount of distance and control with little to no back lash on a consistant basis. it sure is alot of fun aswell
  2. thanks alot guys i havent been on a forum for awhile so i kinda forgot about what makes new posters so annoying with repeat topics and asking a question instead of just using google when thats a better option i appreciate the replys though thanks alot ill be in my backyard tomorow practicing =)
  3. I bought a baitcasting reel a week ago for a bit of a challenge, and after taking it out for the first time today i can say its like driving stick vs. automatic. the first cast i was so excited to cast that i forgot to set the brakes and tension nob and i ended up having to rip all my line off and start over. after a bunch of lame casts i kinda got the hang of it but i couldnt seem to get great distance. what lb line works best i was using 10lb and i think it was to lite.
  4. why not just sharpen them on a whetstone?
  5. what are jerkbaits and beavers?
  6. So a buddy of mine and I drove 2 hours to manteca CA to visit the closest Bass pro shops, and it was definitely worth it. We walked away with so much fishing swag my debit card practically melted. but I wasn't sure if i had ether struck gold or was walking away with a fat lump of pyrite when it came to this 241 piece soft plastic lure and worm kit. They all looked great (some better than others) but I was concerned with the fact that they all reeked of plastic. Am I just used to buying senkos and roboworms in such smal quantities that I never really noticed before? Or is this an inferior product made from inferior materials that the fish will smell and not want to bite? http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-241Piece-All-Pro-Bass-Kit/product/1110050507/276136
  7. ok cool i guess i was under the impression that if i landed a larder fish i would snap my rod in two. Guess im gunna have to go and tack a second pole on my fishing license. thanks for the info guys.
  8. So i was fishing at uvas reservoir here in san jose CA and after catching a few 1 lb bass i got snagged up really bad, and since i was using a weedless worm on a texas rig I figured it was just stuck in between somthing. Therefore i decided to do what everyone tells you not to do and tried to muscle it out and ended up snapping my ugly stik in half. So i bought a new medium action rod and after a few days tried to return the broken one and all they could offer me was a light action rod of the same brand so i took it. Im not sure how much use it could be of. can i only catch small fish on it? what is the light action rods purpose?
  9. Hey everyone, I recently picked up bass fishing seriously about a few months ago, i purchased a light-medium action rod and a spinning reel thinking i would be going on the occasional fishing expedition with my fishing buddy and as it turned out im fished once or twice a week now for bass. Im halfway through the book bass wisdom by homer circle and my tackle box has just begun to grow. So as you can see im pretty new but am really trying to learn as much as i can so i can land some big bass =).
