  1. Plastic stick bait, Senko, preferably #912.
  2. Received one for Christmas, practice casting in the snow is all I've been able to do so far. Seems to be smooth and long casting.
  3. Live starts Friday at 8:30 am eastern, live weigh ins start tomorrow at 3:40 pm eastern.
  4. Interesting, my PQ does the same thing. I cleaned and re lubed, waiting for ice out to see if it makes a difference.
  5. Use a snap for what ever you want, who cares!! You're fishin again, thats what matters the most!!
  6. It's all about the Inches Per Turn(IPT) for me. Gear ratios are just numbers, IPT is an actual distance. I can relate to a distance better than a gear ratio. That's just me.
  7. I agree with the stealth being an excellent option. However the assassin can be purchased on e-bay for a ridiculous $43.99 right now. That my friends is crazy crazy!!
  8. Ask them about those $500 Gander Mountain Gift cards, I'm sure they could donate a few!!
  9. I feel tor ya,I had just the opposite happen here in Genesee county. Took a walk yesterday at one of our fine county parks and much to my surprise soft water at two of my spots. Had I known I would have fished on Saturday. It was tempting to go home and pick up some gear. Now I wake up to snow on the ground this morning, mother nature is driving me crazy!!
  10. Purchased a stealth earlier this month. I wanted the higher speed over the Assassin, it"s almost as light and has a better magnetic brake. Been yard fishing with it twice, it now outcasts my Bps pro qualifier and Daiwa Exceler substantially.. I really can't wait to actually fish with it. Glad to read J Franco's and Bluebasser comments.
  11. Original and crawfish for me.
  12. The centrifugal brakes, the magnetic brakes, and the spool tension knob, all work together to fine tune this particular reel. I've viewed quite a few videos on this and other KastKing reels. Most of those knocking the reels performance don't even know the names of the brakes or tension knob, and never even did any practice casting. Total user error in my opinion.
  13. I would try google earth.
  14. X-factor(Jewell bait company made them for GM), Megastrike strikeback(Original and Roland Martin) I ordered some Siebert compact, looking forward to using them this season.
  15. Whenever companies continue to buyout their competition(Ranger,Triton,Cabelas, stratos) I continue to try and support other retailers. BPS has turned into a destination stop, kinda like a tourist trap for shoppers.
  16. I use both, my senkos are in a plano and the rest are in bags, which are in a small bassmaster bag. Keeps every thing semi organized.
  17. I haven't tried Kastking braid yet(waiting for winter to end), I received a spool when I purchased a reel. However based on Bluebasser's recommendation and the fact that you can get 65lb 8 strand on a 328yd spool for $15. Kastking sounds like a good alternative. None of the other mentioned brands come close to that.
  18. Welcome from the 810!! (Genesee county)
  19. Any updates on this reel? Has it met expectations?
  20. When using braid, I try to match it up with the reel and the rod specifications. Then I will set the drag a little on the loose side. Locked down braid could lead to rod failure, and line dig in just to name a few.
  21. I just came in from the backyard. Got a solid hour in on a new baitcaster. Not one backlash nor snag. Felt good to be doing something productive.
  22. My amount of wind knots was drastically reduced when I switched from ppo to eight strand lines.
  23. My preference has more to do with number of strands. I prefer 8 strands for my braid. 832, slick 8 and j-8 are all spooled on my various reels. Just received some of the Kastking superpower braid with a reel purchase. It's a 4 strand, I will put it on one of my spinning setups as a test once old man winter leaves.
  24. Woot Woot, -25 windchill in the Flint area tonight!!
