After watching several how two videos on the FG knot I made the switch from the alberto for this year. Ott DeFoe has a simple and easy way of tying one. No teeth required.
I actually went from fishing 3-4 times a week to once a week last year. Not because of a lack of interest, more of not wanting to deal with the influx of new anglers created from covid. I experienced quite a few negative outings during that time period and did not want to go thru that again. However this is a new year and with a new desire to get back to what I really love to do. So I have one new rod and another rod and reel on order for the new year, I'm definately looking forward to prowling the banks once again.
Witnessed soft water in Oakland County yesterday. Bought my license this morning, should be fishing within two weeks if all goes as planned. Fingers crossed!!
Like many others on this site, the glowing reviews and recommendations had me curious about the Aird-X. I needed a rod to go with my new tat-100 purchase. The Aird-X felt like a solid rod, however the XT could be had for less than $80 with a five year warranty it was a no brainer for me.
I have been using the J-8 for a couple of years now with great success. It is a soft braid which at times will fluff up and birds nest on long casts. I purchased the J-8 grand this year, seems to be a little more supple which is what I was hoping for. I use the alberto knot for connecting leader line.
Senkos are great fish catchers, however they will not catch em all. Go get a couple of spinnerbaits to add to your arsenal. Next time you talk to other anglers who are catching em, ask them what time of the day are catching em. Keep fishing, the more you fish the more your going to catch.
