  1. Take a look at the st croix mojo, avid and avid x lines.
  2. I have a sc369mlxf. It sees a lot more use as my small popper rod then drop shot. Give it a shot you will probably like it.
  3. Medium light spinning. Medium spinning medium heavy casting heavy or medium casting depending on the body of water. Bam done it in 4 that gives you two extra to play with.
  4. Send it to mike at Delaware valley tackle.
  5. I'm usually a tail up guy. Don't know why been doing it that way for awhile. What do you guys like and and specific reason why?
  6. Backing up won't be a problem, if any it would be pulling out. Based on the specs you shouldn't have any problem unless the launch is super slick. My suv is rear wheel drive (can switch to 4) rarely do. The launch I use is pretty steep with a big drop off when the river is low. Never had a problem with 2 wheels submerged. I've also seen heavier rigs towed with front wheel vehicles get in and out. Just be careful.
  7. they could work but why not use a hook designed for that purpose?. Like a gamakatsu finesse wide gap or a wacky hook from another brand at $4 a pack they are not a steal. When I was looking for a wacky hook I used the search function and read a bunch of threads and decided on the gama finesse wide gap. Available at most place, sharp strong and relatively cheap.
  8. Stick with the $50 rods.
  9. I'm pretty sure you can fish the reel without the mag seal. I think the benefit is more for saltwater anglers maybe....every manufacturer needs things to differentiate them from other brands and mag seal is one of those. The certate is certainly a very nice reel. I have a 2004 ch. No experience with the new stradic but I have an fj that's taken a beating for 3-4 years never been cleaned and is still one if the smoothest I've owned. I wish daiwa would off a metal reel with a direct drive handle for under $350 and no mag seal but I doubt that will happen I just bought 2 cabelas/daiwa salt strikers for $60 a piece and they are very nice check out the daiwa freams on cabelas many features like the certate but a screw threw handle on sale for $80 you could sell that avid and put what you saved on a reel toward a legend elite or custom sc5 blank and really be impressed !
  10. If it's a shimano curado or chronarch e series NO! A few idiots pay too much for them on fleabay and now the price of them is insane. Like my ma always said though there is an ass for every seat.
  11. I don't have a lucky rod and the fishing stinks in my neck of the woods when I'm not in the right spot; which happens more than I'd like to admit. ?
  12. I'm a braid with mono leader guy. I am not convinced 6-7 feet of fluoro is going to give me any benefit over mono in that situation.
  13. Spinning and casting reels all are on the right. Write with my left throw a baseball with my right. Played air hockey for the first time in a few years and used either hand. I wouldn't overthink it. Do what feels best for you.
  14. You should stick with what you like.....if you want to try another brand go for it. I don't abuse my gear but don't treat it with kid gloves either. Dropped my first custom rod and took a couple iches off the tip; got a scratch on my new reel well stuff happens. I like to find a happy medium between high quality gear and a price point where if it breaks or gets damaged it won't be a heartbreak.
  15. If I could only take 3 it would be a medium light spinning rod, a medium spinning rod and a medium heavy casting rod.
  16. Sent ya a pm with my paypal info.
  17. Was checking out cabelas website and these reels are on sale. Anyone have any experience with these? They look like they could be a lexa or legalis spin off.
  18. Bic Lighter Available at most local gas stations.
  19. Gunfish and academy pistol minnow.
  20. I like a rod with a lot of tip, I don't know if I would call it fast but more so stiff. I drag most of my tubes over rocks and I feel like the stiff tip lets me feel those subtle bites and quickly set the hook. I don't want the tip to bounce around a lot while dragging the tube.
  21. All ready for the years first boat ride. Symetre Fj-7' mf sc3 stradic fj-7ml sc3 certate-rx7 781 calcutta-imx 783 50e-imx 782 100b-primere 66mm fingers crossed for something worthy of latest pics catch thread.
  22. White(pearl) then black.
  23. The reel can certainly do the work. I just think there are better options, calcutta 100 works better for me.
