  1. I'm a big st croix fan but meh on these. At $100 and the new mojos strarting at $140. I think on would be better served to spend the extra $$$ or wait till a retailer has a sale and buy a mojo then.
  2. It's probably a half factor of what you used the battery for. Use it longer, the longer it takes to charge.
  3. I bought 2; mb 708 and sj706. If a retailer or manufacturer is offering a good deal. Im on it.
  4. When I used to fish some gun clear strip pits that look a lot like what your fishing. I never had any lucky with topwaters. Most of my fish came on t rigged senkos (weightless), weighted rage claws/lobsters and drop shorting finesse worms and kietech easy shiners. Good luck out there!
  5. Thanks for the heads up. I'm going to bookmark this. The 5 setting is hurkey jerkey enough. It must have been quite the suprise being on 2 then going to 5.
  6. Well if you do any fishing from a golf cart and whack a tree the Powell might break.....the st croix I dunno.
  7. I have a pair of split ring pliers, Wally World kvd's. Braid cutter; a lighter. Hook remover; rusty old neednose and a newer one. A few different tools for a few different jobs suits me well.
  8. Check out the cabelas salt striker. It's a "saltwater" reel but they make it in a 2500 size. I picked up a few for $60 bucks. Last time I check cabelas had them for $70. They are made by daiwa. Very nice.
  9. I had a good day the other day flinging flukes at some docks. They barely hit the water and the fish had them.
  10. I really like the looks of the daiwa bg spinning reels. 6 bearings, all metal, direct drive and no magseal. For about 100-120 count me in!
  11. Cork. Full or split doesn't matter. Though I would like to try graphite tube. One of the reasons you might see more eva handles is cork; good cork is not cheap.
  12. Should be no problem at all. I regularly go 1/4 or more over with no ill effects.
  13. Palomar here as well.
  14. I think it could have been a where you placed your lure at that moment and what that fish were feeling that day type of thing. Plastics I usually use white, black or green. I have a lot to go threw and pink yellow or any bright color isn't in the rotation right now. I don't think I own any green Hardbaits. They are white, black, and a variation of crawfish or baitfish. I think it's more a time and place situation.
  15. When you finish your initial wraps on the clinch knot put the tag end threw the opposite side you have been doing previously and see if that helps.
  16. You can easily replace that. They sell kits at Wally World.
  17. I snell all my single hook lures. No rhyme or reason just started doing it and that's what I'm comfortable with. Jigs get a clinch and treble hooks get palamor. Like others have said no wrong way just what you are comfortable with.
  18. I would rather go home then fish without sun protection. Went out a few days ago and for some dumb reason wore shorts instead of my Columbia fishing pants, as soon as my knee caps started to warm up I called it a day. Been burned bad once before, not going to happen again. Good luck I hope it heals alright.
  19. Hate to hijack this thread but......does anyone have any comments on how density effects the transmission of vibrations? Would a denser material transmit vibration better than a less dense material? Is a denser material heavier than a less one and the addition of said weight be a wash in the transmission of vibration?
  20. I'd use them. Really like that color combo.
  21. After the one side gets torn up, I rig them going the other way can get a few more fish and changes the action a bit.
  22. The price gap on those two is what $200 or something. I'm sure you know the specs and material differences. I think it comes down to what you prefer as far as weight, materials and looks. Me, I'd go curado 70. It may or may not cast "bsf" lures better. If that's what you want to do. I would think there might even be an aftermarket spool down the road.
  23. I don't subscribe to changing trebles. Junky ones and expensive ones always seem to get stuck in something the same for me. Unless the hook is rusted out or bent totally out of wack, I will let it ride.
  24. For me with a fluke it's not what you throw it on but how you work it. SEE above.
  25. Avid's and imx. Those are my favorite types of rods. Plain Jane, simple and effective. Happy fishing with your new rod!
