  1. To quote Raul There´s no fun in having "everything all the same" ( boring ), diversity is the spice of life. In my short time feeding the bait monkey I've noticed mixing brands can yield some interesting results like putting a shimano reel on a daiwa rod can feel awesome. So mixing it up you maybe surprised at the results.
  2. Mr.Clean magic eraser to clean them.
  3. What Avalinjohn44 said that's a great list.
  4. I'd say look at ebay. It's been a gift and a curse for me. Gift because I've found some great deals curse because I keep finding them and spending money. You can get decent used cranks off there for less then a third of the price. I just picked up a pack of 25 gamakatsu hooks for a 3rd of the retail price. It takes time to find the deals on there but when the gf is watching her shows I'm ebaying.
  5. Ive got the symetre and it is a really nice reel. It has x- ship also which is a feature found on the higher need reels. I got it for 84 shipped normally 100. Pm me and I can give you the website.
  6. Braid or mono
  7. Abu Garcia Orra SX about 50 bucks on eBay
  8. Some rods won't tell you the action. There is usually a code designation ex. Pcn661mfb or something to that effect based on the company they are different. You can type that into google and find a site that has the actions listed. Or you could lay the tip on the floor and bend it and compare it to rod action charts found on the Internet.
  9. Let the fish tell you. Sometimes twitched fast on the surface other times a slow retrieve with some pauses and jerks mixed in. Dead sticking there is no wrong way to work a fluke in my opinion. It is probably my favorite way to fish and usually productive.
  10. Go with a revo s or Stx and yes they would compliment each other nicely.
  11. Abu garcia orra s come in a 7 to 1 you can pick those up from eBay for less then 100.
  12. I from Ny and we get a striper run for a few weeks a year and you would be surprised what makes its way up here. Sea lions and possibly a bull shark. I think we would all be surprised how quickly animals and fish can adapt.
  13. It might be the rod that doesn't hurt you wallet and catches fish.
  14. Sorry man tough break. Try asking for a supervisor and explain the situation and what a good customer you are and that you have a lot of friends who would buy from them based on your recommendation
  15. That's what I was told when I called.
  16. You have to buy two of the above rods to get a free reel.
  17. Thanks for the advice guys your responses helped me make this decision that has bugged me for a few weeks.
  18. Thanks for the info. I was looking at a pflueger and shimano. I handled the shimano 2500 and liked it but can only look at the pflueger online and it looks small in the 2500 size. The pflueger attracts me because of the options for the price and spare spool.
  19. Hey all, I have a question. I'm looking for a new spinning reel and I'm looking at a variety of brands however I only have the opportunity to look at a few of the models I'm interested in since the stores around here only carry a couple brand. Basically my question is are spinning reel sizes ie 2500, 3000, 3500 standard across different brands or at least similar? Or is it like rod actions and powers where without seeing and touching you don't know what your going to get. Thanks.
  20. I don't know if it matters much someone with more experience will probably chime in but I think the redbone is a saltwater rod.
  21. I've been looking at these on different sites and YouTube and they look pretty cool but I'm a little hesitant because of the price. Has anyone used one and what are you opinions? Also is there a similar lure made by a different manufacturer at a lower price point. Thanks for the help and advice.
  22. I have the orra sx which has the same breaking system but has a reputation for back lashing maybe the new s will be better good luck and enjoy!!!
  23. You could do that with an educated thumb. While the pitch is for pitching. The pitch will stay engaged throught the cast while the springs engage at the beginning. Since my thumb is at middle school level I like having a break engaged throught the cast to help prevent backlash
  24. People saw you can use one but I never do. I usually use one pitch and one spring or 3 spring. Push the pins away from the center to engage and away to disengage use your finger nails
  25. Maybe back off a little more. Twist the side plate back toward you
