  1. ^^^^ see above great suggestions. 1/4oz grub bounced/dragged sometimes with a spinner if the waters stained or the suns down.
  2. Nice fish. Some guy told me there weren't alot of bass in there but I never belived it. That place looks like bass heaven.
  3. That is true. However many times the clerks at the register don't check the fine print. I know from personal experience. it's worth a shot.
  4. Wow very impressive. Great Job
  5. Went fishing today and got this guy on a white spinner bait When I drove up to the spot I saw a little 4 legged creature run into the woods. I was slightly nervous I thought it looked like a small coyote but know there pretty rare around here. I continued on and it turned out to be a puppy. I approached it and it took a defensive stance and started barking and growling and I left it alone hoping it might be friendlier on my way back. Long story short some other people were able to get a leash on it as it hung around my car as I was fishing. When I finished they came up and asked me if she was mine. I said no and the dog was alot more friendly when I didn't have my gear. It looked like a pit/Shepard mix about 5 months old. The fishing spot is about a mile from a not so nice neighborhood and the dog having no id my guess was she was dumped there. Its pretty messed up people can be so calis to an innocent creature. The guy said his landlord was gonna keep it and give it a nice home. I guess this isn't really a fishing report but its nice to know that dog won't be alone in the woods tonight or out on the street. Tight lines all.
  6. I had a similar question awhile back. What was imparted to me was to compare line capacities between brands. That should give you an idea of comparable sizes between brands. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/109698-spinning-reel-sizes/?fromsearch=1
  7. I like throwing light t-rigs on spinning but that's me. Weight less plastics like flukes a 50e can definitely throw them pretty darn good on a mh rod. 50e would be my choice out of the reels you listed.
  8. Haha that's great. Especially the 75 in the snow and the dunkin d's on every corner. There's actually a place around here where 2 are directly across the street from each other.
  9. That's great man. Those guys can pull in some nice coin.
  10. Nice catches. That one on the bottom looks like a little fatty
  11. X3 on the white grub. I've even taken the skirt off 3/8 spinner baits and thrown a grub on there. Works great
  12. Lots of good info in this thread. One thing I like to do if the fish are biting flukes and to make them last another couple catches is after the nose gets all ripped up is cut the nose off and continue to use it. It almost turns the fluke into a popper that causes alot of noise and disturbance on top of the water and then let it sink. I've caught quite a few fish this way.
  13. Nice work. Looks like a great day!!
  14. Vernier calipers
  15. Nice, you gotta get that thing into production!
  16. I would focus the majority of my funds on the baitcasting combo. Like was said above a berkley shock rod or even cherry wood paired with a pflueger prez/abu garcia cardinal/shimano or daiwa in the $40-50 dollar range would be a good start for finesse. That would probably set you back around $70-80 bucks. I would also recommend doing a search on the forum here for 100 dollar rods. There have been many and I mean many discussions on the topic. Personally I would look at the shimano compre, powell desiel and st.croix mojo. The 7''m/f mojo that farmer mention above is a real nice rod and is very versitale. As for reels I would look to ebay and see if I can find a nib revo s gen 2 or a used citica d/e series. I only say focus the funds on the baitcasting combo because basically anybody can cast a spinning reel; it is going to take practice and patience to cast a baitcaster (I'm assuming you don't have alot I'd experience in that arena) and a better quality rod and reel with make the learning curve easier.
  17. Don't really have any stories. I think for the price you cant beat it. Nice smooth line that lays on a reel nice. I had some 10lb on a small spinning reel for awhile. I actually thought it was 8lb because it handled so well. Went to grab the box to re-spool and it was actually 10 lol.
  18. ^^^^^ that metanium is very nice. Why not wait till July and see if anything new and interesting comes out
  19. X2 actually really like that rod.
  20. First off I don't have any older model shimanos to compare to. I did have an abu cardinal that served me well for 5 years. That said I picked up a symetre fl1000 for 15% off retail and its a great reel. I did however replace the bushing with a bearing side making it 5+1. It is very smooth and has x-ship which is a nice feature. I also like the fact that it has a 750 size body with a 1000 size spool. I don't think you can go wrong especially if you can find them at a discount.
  21. Looks like he really wanted that jig. That is awesome.
  22. I would defer to someone more experienced then me and suggest you visit BassResource's YouTube channel. They have a video on there about it, I followed their advice and haven't had a problem since. One thing about Walmart is the one I went to had the tip fix kit but none of the tips fit the rod tip snug enough. If you have a tackle shop near maybe then can size it. There are also tackle websites out there where you can order them. I ordered 2 of each size that I thought was closest. 8 bucks and now I have the rest in case it happens again.
  23. Why not just replace the tip?
  24. That is sick!!! Nice work man !!!
