  1. The only time I deal with union guys is when they are thinking about leaving the union and looking for other opportunities. I'm sure every state is different but in NY a union member cannot take a non-union job without penalty. I'm sure some guys do side jobs but that's another story. The main thing is; if your not happy and have better opportunities by all means purse them. The thing that gets me is alot of these companies expect undying loyalty from their employees but will cut you without a blink of an eye. My thought has always been I look at my self as a company and have to do the best for my bottom line and it sounds like that's what your doing.
  2. That's my mistake. I thought from some of your other threads you were in a union. In that case I would definetly give the two weeks.
  3. That's a nice NE fish. Congrats.
  4. I'm an employment counselor and I would recommend giving 2 weeks notice as well. Even if the job sucks its generally the accepted and right thing to do. You never know when you may need a reference even if you already have some. It sounds like your in a union so it's different but I would still follow the general principal. I think root beer did an excellent job of explaining all the possible outcomes and none of those are bad at all.
  5. You can certainly do that and have success. I prefer to twitch twitch pause. You really can't work a fluke wrong. Check out bassresource's YouTube channel. Sometimes I let them sink 10-20 seconds then twitch and pause or start as soon as it hits the water.
  6. Can't go wrong with tubes, grubs on a ball head jig, flukes, senkos, and I know you said no topwater but a popper. What's worked pretty well for me lately has been to start with a white fluke and if that doesn't get bit switch to a black senko. Kind of opposite ends of the spectrum and lets me know what kind of mood they are in. Plus I don't have to re-tie.
  7. I get the friction thing sort of. To each there own; I guess. Nothing worse than nails on a chalk board ahhhh
  8. I don't get this whole it's noisy thing. I love that noise. It means fish on to me
  9. My guess is they are trying to differentiate the orra and the revo s. in the prior generation they were very similar. I believe the only difference between the two was the orra didn't have carbon drag pads and maybe a bearing or two. Since the orra was thirty dollars less and could be had for close to half price off ebay. It makes sense to change it to make the S more appealing at its price point.
  10. Last Monday Here's my buddy. He spends 9 months of the year in Iraq as a security contractor. He's into golf; I'm hoping a few more fish like the one above might change that lol We are going on a midnight lunker hunt tonight. He lost another good one after this and was super upset. I had to tell him that's the way it goes and as you get better you will lose less fish. I actually enjoy taking people that aren't into fishing and getting them excited about the sport.
  11. Sounds like a great day. Nice fish.
  12. I think this basically sums it up. I had a similar type spot that was producing quality fish. This neighborhood kid showed up and started taking the fish home for dinner. The kids from Russia I tried to explain to him that people generally fish for bass for sport and he would be better off eating walleye. He didn't seem to get it; if the fish are legal what can you do? Since then that spot has dried up. What else can you do? Move on and find them somewhere else.
  13. Nice fish. Looks like they were hungry for those frogs.
  14. Looks like a good day. That third smallie from the top looks to be pretty big. Nice job.
  15. Needham got this thread back on track. Anyone that fishes a northeastern lake may or will encounter pike and a leader 1. Will help you land that fish 2. Will save your lure. Macio proved that point. Quite nicely. JD96 I understand you feelings on bass. They are my favorite but as discussed above all species serve a purpose and should be respected and managed accordingly.
  16. Ill take the hooters; even the wings there is a stretch lol. As for Micky D's and their wings; I'm gonna pass on that one.
  17. If you worried about getting cut up buy a pair of mechanic gloves and remove the hook with a pair of needle nose like said above. To me a fish is a fish and I'm happy. especially one that looks like this.
  18. About 15 like some of the other gents said. That said most of my fish come on soft plastics which max about $7 a bag. I've spent more on baits and quite frankly they don't catch anymore fish then less expensive baits and generally stay in the tacklebox. Like rods and reels the fish don't know how much a lure costs. It's all about right place right time no matter how inexpensive or expensive the bait.
  19. Abu cardinal is a good choice or the pflueger president for a few more bucks.
  20. Looks like you guys got on some solid fish. Good times.
  21. I'd second that it sounds like a knot issue and trying braid with either flouro or trying a copoly like yo-zuri.
  22. The only reason I'd be laughing Is if I could have a litter and get the prices this guy got. I'd be laughing all the way to the bank that is and don't act like you wouldn't be shook with that thing coming at you. http://oddstuffmagazine.com/worlds-most-expensive-dog-1-6-million-for-tibetan-mastiff.html http://www.today.com/id/42128943/ns/today-today_pets/t/million-paid-worlds-most-expensive-dog/
  23. I didn't read all the posts fully. Ill state that first and foremost. I beat the bank and don't have a problem with it. In fact I was reeling them in tonight as a guy was twiddling his thumbs in a boat 100 feet away. It's all how you approach it. Someone on here says all the time the guys on the bank try and cast out as far into the middle as they can and the guys on the boat are casting to the shore. I think there is some truth to that. Like derekxxec said get on that boat and try it out. I know that's what I'd be doing.
  24. When I fish with my buddy that's all he likes to do. Do we catch fish; yes. Are they generally on the smaller side; yes. Could we be doing it wrong ;yes. Do I find it boring ;yes. There is definetly a technique to it. read this article and it might change your mind on its effectiveness or if its cheating. http://www.bassmaster.com/news/david-hayes-and-world-record-smallmouth-bass
