  1. I'd roll up some sandpaper and twist it about in the hole of the butt cap until I got it to fit.
  2. St croix 7'0 medium light fast.
  3. What are you using the rod for? I think a st croix light power rod might be overpowered for panfish but under powered for bigger bass. It's a nice compromise.
  4. The rod geeks are very nice, so are st croix sc3 both about $100 give or take. No experience with the MHx but they have a good reputation. I have also been very impressed with my batson rx7 which I got at a steal. Basically most name brand manufactures make a good product it's hard to go wrong. If you provide some detail on what your looking for you might get more detailed responses.
  5. I agree with this but it's also sad when comedians like Jerry Seinfeld and Chris Rock won't do shows at colleges anymore for not wanting to hear backlash over "offensive" commentary. It's also funny hearing people complain about "today's" generation. I guess it's not their kid that is the pansy or lazy azz though lol.
  6. As a second year trailer puller, I think you have received some great advice. The first time I launched my boat a co-worker helped me. Once the boat was off the trailer and he said good to go, I hit the gas except the truck was still I'm reverse. I apologized profusely for almost killing him. He said it wasn't close but I think he might be trying to be nice. It's easy to get caught up in the event so just make sure you take your time and create a mental checklist. Another tip I learned from an old timer at the ramp as I was struggling to load the boat was to back the trailer in to where the top of the wheel wells are just submerged. A year later I'm doing pretty good. I can even back it at a 90 degree angle into my driveway between my house and the neighbors. You'll do fine. Nothing to it but to do it.
  7. Good explanation. I still don't get how mine was binding then not and has been good for 1 1/2 years.
  8. How are you so sure of this? Just wondering bc I had a 1000fl that got soaked in a rain storm and started to bind. I had already replaced the bushing with a bearing as well on the side of the reel. After the rain I removed the spool ran I rag around it and the binding hasn't happened since. What would account for this?
  9. The academy pistol minnow has been a winner for me this season.
  10. I read your posts and know your new to fishing so I'm really not trying to bust your chops. You have some choices. If you need to rationalize why you need another rod. Just buy it and be happy. No need to make excuses why a certain model can't get the job done. I'm going to go against the grain here and say you would be surprised how versatile your generic type rods can be. 90% of my fishing is done with a medium light spinning rod. It has caught everything from 3 inch rock bass to 15 pound northern pike. I fish everything from 1/8 tubes to 5/8 top waters and it works for all. There is nothing wrong with having a rod for different techniques but it's not needed. Here's a shameless plug for my favorite rod. Check out a sc5 medium light fast 6'6-7'0.
  11. Braid with leader depending on cover and lure, mono and braid w/leader. That's what id use on those setups per the order you listed.
  12. Anyone else following this?. Pretty unreal. Never been up to the town where it happened. It's pretty amazing though with all these resources they haven't had a whiff of these guys.
  13. You might want to check out BassResource YouTube videos on fishing. You generally let the fish hook themselves on the drop shot with minimal hook set.

    Very cool.
  15. I think you will see a genie that will answer every fisherman's 3 wishes and all will be right in the world.
  16. You could spend your life looking for "better options" or you could use what you have and catch fish. I think your list is on point.
  17. Most of my buddies fish light action ugly sticks with whatever lure they want. Not that far from the norm. Good videos though.
  18. Thanks Glenn that made me literally lol.
  19. Tom, I appreciate and agree with all your statements. I have thought all these things as well. I think you are in California? I'll tell you when it's -20 you need something to do. I like to build my own rods because when I have a complaint about them I only have myself to look to.
  20. Classic.
  21. Great fish and even better beard!!!
  22. So do any of these non-posters pm you that they are offended? Are posts locked for fear of offending people that read but don't contribute to the community? Asking outside of I have a product I'd like to b^tch about or politics rules.
  23. No knock against the guys that do it for a living but where would doing it yourself lead to an inferior fishing tool?
  24. Oh yea and back to the topic. Deep, You seem like a smart guy. Check out the North fork HM blanks and one of the rod building retailers for the guides and handle. Watch a couple YouTube videos and I bet you can make your own "NRX"
