  1. Try a jackal I shad and 1/0 offset hook. The big girls like this one.
  2. If you are just getting serious about fishing. I would try and learn more about tying knots, rigging baits, and general bass behavior/fishy looking spots. Buy rods at the opposite end of the spectrum. A medium heavy and a medium light. These two rods will allow you to experiment and find the techniques/lures that work best for you. Have fun and never think you have the "wrong" tool for the job.
  3. One of the darkest smallmouth I ever caught came in a stream about 3-5 deep. I just looked and can't find the picture. I don't have a scientific reason as to why the different colors but I would imagine bottom composition and water color play an important role. Here's two fish caught in the same area. One in the spring. High water muddy conditions. The other late fall. Water levels dropping and and clear water.
  4. Great video. I have to put the tube down and throw these alittle more.
  5. I did tonight. Ran out of gas right in the launch with the boat hooked up. Guess when the gauge reads 1/4 tank it really means empty. Pretty embarrassing. Thankfully the guy I was holding up had a few gas tanks in the back of his truck and went and got me some fuel.
  6. Beautiful fish. Congrats to him.
  7. It was tounge and cheek. I learned spending time downstate that upstate means different things to different people.
  8. Wait? I thought this was an upstate thread? Where the heck is upstate ny anyways?
  9. I believe mike iconelli used to have a show called city limits. Where he would visit a city and catch fish within its boundaries. Sounds like your very busy but I bet there's a river or drainage pipe where you could catch one!!!
  10. Lol "homeboys" your a good guy snook. Ive known a few people that have used "alternative" medicine and it seemed to help. Again good luck.
  11. I've done it once. Wrapped some masking tape around the blank. Marked the spot I wanted to cut and took a hacksaw too it. Took a 7'6 blank down to 6'8. Worked fine for me.
  12. My river rat.
  13. Best of luck to you Snook.
  14. I definetly agree. One of my favorite rods this year is an rx7 781sj rod. I bought the blank on close out for $27. With about $9 in cork and $25 in guides, alconites no less. It has seen probably the most use this year. Pairs with a pfluger supreme I bought for $40 on clearance. The whole combo came in at about $100. I don't think many people can say they put together a combo with a magnesium reel and a high quality blank with alconite guides for much less than that!!! The deals are out there people!! Nice build by the way
  15. I buy them for $3 a pack In January.
  16. Facebook is good. IG has some great content to. Much easier to search.
  17. Lol that ci4 stuff is amazing material.
  18. Empty boat launch just how I like it. And caught a couple good ones.
  19. I think carrot stick guy might have a point. I build a few rods here and there. One thing I've done is research ergonomics, guide layouts, stadic testing, and weight to death. These factors in my opinion are as important as the brand of blank in terms of a rods intended use and performance. If you took blanks from gloomis and other top tier manufactures and they had the same type of characteristics based on a common sense measurement system. Outfitted them with the same guide train and layout. I'm talking down to a half millimeter and 1/00 of an ounce. Would one rise heads and tails above the other? I don't know. Off the small Sampling of this forum I think it would be a tough call. Op your concern for counterfeit rods is valid in this day in age is a true concern. Like mentioned a few pages back; calling the manufacture is your best bet.
  20. Can you buy from them directly? I have a supplier I like getbitoutdoors since we are naming names. I have bought some batson products from them as well as other brands.
  21. Suffix is some good stuff.
  22. I've fished it a few times, always catch a few fish. I believe it's 23 miles long. Quite big for me in a tin or party boat. Compared to the river I normally fish it's generally very clear water. I know not a lot of help but it is a very nice lake to fish. Oh yea I caught the fish in my avitar on sacandaga off a friends dock. Zoom finesse worm on a split shot.
