  1. White mepps musky killer I catch a lot of pike and muskies on this and the occasional bass.
  2. I would choose a crankbait, because if you are traveling to different lakes and then there are going to be different species. You can catch bass, pike, muskie, and walleye on a crank. Or I would choose a jerkbait for the same reason.
  3. That is an awesome story and nice fish.
  4. I love my Lews Tournament MG. The reel is so smooth and it casts like a dream. I have had problems with other brands, but none with my Lews. I will be sticking with them.
  5. I read it and I learned a lot from it, very good read.
  6. I mainly use three frogs the Rage tail toad, the Booyah Pad Crasher, and the strike king sexy frog.
  7. Since you are fishing at an average depth of 2-3 feet. I would throw a KVD 1.5 or XCalibur XCS in chartreuse black back. Make sure you pay attention to what your bait is doing. Check this out http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/72766-a-rare-insight-into-crankbait-fishing/ and this http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-videos/crankbait-fishing.html These helped me and I hope it helps you.
  8. I have some pack of pit bosses but I really never use them looks like I need to start.
  9. I just got done organizing my stuff. I am always tweaking with my tackle and organizing my stuff. I can't get enough of it after all fishing is my hobby. I keep my soft plastics in the original bags, but there is nothing wrong with putting your soft plastics in their own tray. I have done it for years and never had a problem.
  10. The easiest way to catch a big bass is to use big baits. Yeah I know sounds like a no brainer but, many of the biggest bass caught in the world where caught on huge swimbaits. Jigs are also great big bass baits use a rage craw and match your trailer with the jig color.
  11. I let the senko fall on a semi-slack line so if I fell something I can set the hook right away. When it is falling I sometimes shake it in place for a second or two and then I let it fall to the bottom then shake it in place again and then pop it up. Then I repeat the process. This is just what I do and it is very effective. It is hard to fish a wacky worm wrong. I'm not picky on hooks, I have caught a lot of fish on 2/0 ewg hooks and hook specially made for wacky fishing, they both work.
  12. All toad species have parotid glands which are behind the eyes on the side of its head which secretes bufotoxin. Don't know if bass are effected by this toxin.
  13. That fish looks so cool, I want to catch one.
  14. I would say around 4 pounds, that is a nice fish.
  15. sounds like a good idea.
  16. Thank you and you are spot on I do have a small reel and I did spool the line fast. That cleared it up, but is there anything I can do to stop this with out having to respool.
  17. I recently purchased some Seaguar Red Label fishing line in 8lb test. I put the line on my spinning reel, so the line was coming of the filler spool counter-clockwise, that is the way people told me to put it on. While I was spooling the reel I sprayed a few squirt of Kevin Van Dam's Line and lure onto the line every 20 yards. I let the first treatment settle over night like it says. So when I went out today and when I opened up the bail the line shot off the spool, I don't know if this is really a problem but I'm just curious is this normal? I know for a fact that I did not over spool the reel.
  18. How deep was the fish caught? 3-4 feet Did the lure contain rattles or have hinges? No Was the lure a natural color (brown, green) or was it an unnatural color (chartreuse, orange)? Soft Plastic 6" Worm in Purple If possible, what moon phase was your PB caught during? I caught it on July 23 2010, I looked it up and it was 3 days from a full moon.
  19. I use 2 types of Spinnerbaits 1. Booyah Hot Wire - Any color 2. Northland Reed Runner - Black It really dosen't matter the weight.
  20. I don't eat bass, but I do eat a lot of Walleye and I just use Shore Lunch Cajun. I just fry it on the stove. Nothing special.
  21. Looks like a good flipping bait, and a good shakey head bait.
  22. I prefer fishing at dusk, there really isn't any reason. It is just I rarely fish in the morning, because I always over sleep. I should try waking up sooner.
  23. Yes it is worth it, it is a very good magazine, very informational. I havn't tried FLW Bass yet.
  24. A lot of people store them in plano 3700 boxes and I used to do the same but I am getting out of it. I personally prefer to keep them in the package that they come in. If you are fishing the bank and don't have a lot of room for stuff, putting your soft plastics in the box is perfect. However not all plastics can be placed together, like the elaztech worms made by Z-Man and some of Strike kings that say Elaztech or else they will melt because of putting them near other plastic types. It will ruin your plastics. Also keep Berkley gulp in its package or they will dry out.
  25. Not all MN lakes are like turtle lake, different lakes have different slot limits and regulations. Based on different reasons.
