  1. Since I spend 90% of my time flipping and pitching jigs and or punching grass mats I unfortunately lose a lot of tackle : ( I buy jigs in bulk now so I don't have I constantly buy them I probably lose at least 1-3 per trip. I just order them 50 ata time because I only use 2 colors, when punching though very rarely do I find something tougher than 65lb pp so I don't lose rigs often that way
  2. Pretty much all I do when they go deep is throw jigs, 8-18 arky style anything deeper football heads only reason I don't use football head jigs is in md the lakes I fish have heavy veggies pretty deep and the football head is a nightmare
  3. I use a bps bag it was 35 buck with 5 370 containers and a pile of extra pockets ! Love it and it holds a ton o stuff http://m.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Extreme-Qualifier-370-Tackle-Bag/product/10203083/114575
  4. I went to bps and handled them both yesterday and ended up with the veritas, took it fishing and LOVE it !!! Very sensitive and has great backbone for the price went with a 7'6" mh for another jig rod. Thanks for the feedback guys couldn't be happier
  5. Reel till you feel weight then swing hard, also make sure your rod is stiff enough to pull that hook through , if you don't have enough back none you might not be pulling much line on your hook sets
  6. Trokar straight shenk flippin hooks for most Texas rig, gama EWG 3/0-5/0 for weightless and gama weedless finesse hooks
  7. Things like this happen to everyone it could have been a lot of things, lure color, size, fall rate, sometimes making a few pitches with say a green pumpkin jog gets you nothing switch and throw a t-rig worm or senko or something that doesn't resemble a jig. I always have my 2 jigs tied and a senko to follow if I don't get bit where I know fish should be, also try a bigger senko like 6 inch as bass seem to be more apt to go for an easy meal if it is big when it gets very hot
  8. I would go with 2 square bills lucky craft IMHO I guess it is just me but I have broken 3 kvd 1.5 bouncing them off cover... The lip snapped clean off, then I would get 2 red eye shad and one mid/ deep diver 10-15 feet. And def stick to colors similar to your waters forage
  9. I'm using 65# pp Powell 7'4 frog rod and a revo s
  10. What frogs do u all use for slop froggin, and I say bitter sweet because I lost a new PB today due to a poor hook up frog fishing
  11. I am pretty sure it is a double San Diego jam knot
  12. Hich one do you like better and why
  13. A lot of my favorite ponds to fish do this too, best bet is to go with natural colors green pumpkin, watermelon, and any browns and use a natural looking bait like craw plastics, senkos, and flukes just fish em slow in gin clear water fish can see super far and really get a good look at your lures so using good colors and realistic forge will get you bit a lot more
  14. I use The Denny Braeur 3x elastech chunks 100% of the time great action they last and work consistently. Only downside is they melt in the heat like around 110 or so. And swim jigs I use roboworm easy shad or swim senkos trimmed down a bit
  15. Your spinnerbaits rod would e fine for buzzbaits. As fr line 8-10 flouro on your spinning, heavy braid for frog and flipping rods I like 12-15 lb flouro for cranks sometimes 10, and 17-25 flouro for your mh soft bait rod just what I would do and these guys got me on seaguar line and I probably won't ever change, and power pro braid IMO. And your my hero for goin all out on your rods man wih I had the dough
  16. Ya the f700 is on te heavy side but the benefits are worth it IMHO just wish they came in a 7.1. And I never had any problems with reel noise mine is smooth as butter
  17. Power pro is the deal for the price IMHO can't be beat, and the 735 will be more versatile for other applications where as te 736 will be frogs and punching pretty much exclusively
  18. Kvd- Kevin van Dam and shakey head is a light jig head used to make hold a floating type worm on the bottom in an uprite position giving it a ton of action in a slow moving presentation. Not a "normal" search bait by any means
  19. I generally fish 3/8 oz his and control my fall with the trailer. Trimming appendages to get it just right. And as far as the punching I would do a build a jig type of rig with a paycheck skirt and plastic on a straight shank hook
  20. I fish it slow as well and I would never use it as a search bait. That said kvd is pretty good at this whole deal so tht might work for him the way he does it. Give it a shot and you might find it works well. Btw saw the same video lol
  21. I'm 6'4" so for me a longer rod is more comfortable I have some 6'6 rods but most of mine are 7'- 8' I like the power and slack pull they offer
  22. I use a 7'3" Powell frog rod, great backbone and has a great balance too it. Not he lightest rod ever but comfortable for me. Got mine off Craig's list for 120$ so it is in my budget. I think they are 170$ new. And the reel is a revo s
  23. Spinning gear is generally for finesse techniques and baitcaster are for power fishin and larger bait finesse. Bait caster will hold heavier line and have more power for gettin fish out of cover, where as spinning reels will not have as much drag power. Also baitcasters can be far more accurate for close and far targets and will cast farther. But as state you need both to be more successful
  24. I have one of the f700 flip n pitch reels and I couldn't be happier had it for about 2 months and it is flawless the 22lbs drag is perfect and the pitching control is so money. I wouldn't trade it for anything when it comes to pitching. Haven't had any experience with there other reels though so hard to say for me about anything else
  25. Jig fishing is my bread and butter I usually have 2-3 jigs on at all times, and everyone nailed it swing if it feels different I set about 20-30 hooks a day on nothing in 8+ hours of jig fishin for me it's just part of the fun. Some days they will inhale your jig and pull immediately on your line and someways your line stays slack when they pick it up.
