  1. I have had 2 presidents for about 7 years now and they still run smooth as day 1 only get line twist with straight flouro and it is very manageable
  2. I would definitely recommend either the north star flip n' swim or for the recessed line tie the premier series from north star in alien shape head would be ideal, stands up great comes through cover very well and the skirt patterns are great, all hand tied and painted and very durable I have caught well over 200 fish on one jig the skirt material can definitely take some abuse.
  3. There are a bunch of different ways to use a jig and just as many types of jigs. Swim jigs- narrow longer head styles with a vertical line tie to help them slip through cover, I like to use a trailer with a lot of action whether it be a single or double tail grub or even a soft body swim bait, you can just reel them in or bounce them off cover or even jerk and pause in open water, color wise for swim jigs I like to stick baitfish type colors, shad and bluegill. Football head jig- heavy weight jigs with a football shaped head for hard rocky bottoms, the football shape helps them not get wedged in the rocks as easily. With these jig styles you will almost always be mimicking a crawdad so choose your colors accordingly, on te retrieve maintaining bottom contact is crucial fish it like you would a Carolina rig. Another thing I have had success with on a football jig is using a living rubber skirt these cylinder shaped strands flare and move without you moving the rod and also help make a larger profile attracting big bites. For trailers use a crawdad type trailer or creature type bait. Arkie/flippin jig- the most common type of jig used, you can pitch them swim them cat them almost unlimited uses, best used when pitching to stumps, pockets in vegetation, docks, lay downs, or any kind of solid cover. Crawdad and creature bait trailers are the most common. Two main colors to use would be black and blue or green pumpkin or variations of the two. No wrong way to fish this one Tips when fishing a jig- always let your jig fall to bottom on a slack line making sure it falls vertical instead of a pendulum motion, this appears more natural. I think it is also very important to match the trailer color to te jig skirt color this is also just to appear natural. Line choices, I prefer heavy flourocarbon for 99% of my jig fishing for its low visibility and great sensitivity. Sensitive line and rods are very important due tO how soft a jig bite can be sometimes you won't feel a thin your line will just start running, and for rid selection make sure you get something a bit longer 7' plus MH-H fast or extra fast action this will help with longer pitching stronger hookset and more control of your lure in te water. Hope I didn't ramble to much and I'm sure I missed things but that should be a good starting point Tight lines!
  4. 2 3700's one for clear water one for dirty water : )
  5. I have 3 of them, 7'3 mh for punching grass mats, I use 65 # pp and a revo s. the reel seat is amaizing IMO once you get the reel in there and tighten it up it will never move. Mine is not the mico guide rod because I do tie leaders sometimes and micro guides are miserable with a leader. And I have pulled some good ones out of hydrilla mats and the rod feels great! I would def buy another one
  6. I just bough tr wacky rig toll for 6 bucks lol works great and holds a mess of o-rings so u don't have to waste time changing up
  7. I like the Yama flappin hog, and to be honey I have never tried a brush hog on a jig of any kind, I still love the simple chunks like the Denny Brauer 3x, dunno why there action is minimal and the melt on te boat sometimes lol but I catch a ton of fish with them
  8. I have been using seguar abraz-x for about a month know 20# and I love it, I also don't use line conditioner and have had no problems
  9. X2, I love fishing a jig it is always my confidence bait I will catch fish on a jig in any condition just need te right presentation
  10. Owner makes a good hook I try to use a size that goes about half the length of the bait and something with a screw in bait keeper
  11. Gambler is the deal for me if u split all the limbs the action becomes amazing
  12. Thank you Kevin I'm sure I will north star makes a great product.
  13. I made myself some skirt hubs a while back out of a wooden dowel rod, drilled them out and notched them to hold the skirt better they worked great for about 30-40 fish and then usually broke but try we're like 6 cents a peice and IMO I like to have the weight adjustment without having to use a diff colored skirt. But they look great man what weight are they ?
  14. I very rarely throw 1/4 oz I generally stick to 3/8 or 1/2 if wind gets real bad, you can adjust the skirt and trailer to give you a much slower fall and still have the weight to not have to use spinning gear, and to be completely honest dinks don't usually produce the "jig bite" dinks will slam every lure like a shark on an injured seal.
  15. I would use a green pumpkin or brown jig with a very full skirt like the northstar premier series and trim it to just below the hook then trim the edges a bit, pair it with a trailer that has morerealistic look to it and subtle action like a yama fat baby craw, or even a chigger craw, with the extra short skirt it will puff more on the fall and appear more as an injured crawdad also trim your trailer a bit so that when the skirt is down only th head and claws are exposed. Also use te lightest weight you can get away with 1/4 - 3/8 would be ideal. Hope this helps, tight lines
  16. Never used the miller punch weight but I have heard it works well, comes through clean more consistently so they say
  17. !!! Thanks Vinny !!! Can't wait!
  18. I have a slotted bag I got from wal Mart, it has four sections in it and I leave them in there original bags. Not super organized but works for me
  19. My jog rod is my favorite rod in the box hands down ardent f700 and a Dobyns 735, I wouldn't trade it for anything. The reel is on the heavy side but it is soooo smooth and the 22 lb drag is flawless, also the Dobyns rod is great super sensitive and more backbone than you will ever need bass fishing.
  20. Abu/ardent reels Dobyns/Powell rods Northstar jigs Strike king plastics Always willing to try new things but these see the water the most by far.
  21. I pitch and flip with my left hand and cast with my right I dunno why but pitching I make so many casts I just got lazy and madeself go lefty
  22. For me I would say I average between 30-40 yards on an actual cast, crank rod probably 60 but like most people have said accuracy is the ticket, if your fishing from a boat you should be positioning yourself at a distance that your not throwing your arm out to get in the strike zone fish comfortably you will be much happier the next day
  23. I take 6 but I only really use 4 a spinning rod for senkos And random sissy stickin, a frog / punch rod for heavy slop and pads with braid, and 2 jig rods one for pitching with 20 # flouro and one for casting with 15# flouro, te other 2 almost never get used
