  1. The alien head jigs from northstar skip really well for me and as usual I almost only use 3/8 oz.
  2. I use the gamakatsu #2 finesse hook, but I tie a double uni and leave the tag long if your knot is tied properly and is tight you just aim the hook and it holds it out, even with the bait on
  3. Of course of it has a natural look, action and color
  4. They work great just like all the other stout flippin hooks and te bait keeper on these is just the right size IMO
  5. !!!! I will be fishing this tourney too!!!! So I obviously can't help you XD.... jk, if your gonna be at the docks go to the far right and throw a frog in the thick grass I have caught several 4+ # lmb on our way to the lily pads around the corner and after that go all the way out and throw out to about 20 ft of water straight off the end of the dock, slow roll a spinner, swim jig, or swimbait. Good luck to you man maybe I'll see you there!
  6. I have 2 3700's stuffed to the gills and at least 150-200 in a cardboard box in my garage most of them are still in te packaging , if someone has a good Sale on jigs I will buy out there stock I color I use
  7. Dark water dark lure clear water natural color : )
  8. My friend just got some Monday and he said he tried t rig, got nothin ten tried wacky and said he just twitched and paused and had like 2 bites. Other than that I dunno

  10. Haha yeah I'll have to email them to myself as you cannot post pics from an iPhone : ( I'll post them after work today
  11. Thanks guys!! Can't wait to go back I have never had a day like this in the summer !!! And I will definitely try shakeyhead f the bite slows or stops thanks for all the tips guys Tight lines
  12. I went to a local lake after work today with a friend and we started our normal routine headed to our normal shore line with piles of thick cover and started punching away we had 2 fish in about 2 hours : (. So as we were trolling back to the dock to call it a day I passed over a drop I had never seen went from 18 to 25 feet. I stopped the boat and grabbed my new found obsession the drop shot, first cast to this drop off hooked into a 3# LM And from there we caught 37 fish in an hour and a half. Marked the spot and headed in. Never had success like this in the summer usually it is a miserable grind to get 10 tops, we were fishing with the bps hand poured 3.5 " minnows wacky rigged with a 16-20 inch tag end and a 1/4 oz weight. Have you guys used any other minnow type baits and had succes and how did you rig them.
  13. I have tried several different ones and IMHO nothing has the same action as the Yamamoto since I always wacky rig them I bought the tool and the o-rings, I can get as many as 6-10 fish per senko before they start to tear. Best 7$ I ever spent.
  14. So I have been slowly getting into finesse fishing and I really have never been very big on it so I don't much attention to what everyone is usin or the techniques. What techniques and lures have you guys been having success with, also do you prefer straight flouro, braid to flouro leader, or even another option.
  15. My friend has a few and he swears by them but for me personally they don't feel balanced but for 20$ it would be a nice spare I'm sure
  16. I have a 7'3" mh with a revo s and I live it they are very light and have great sensitivity
  17. Has anyone used the fireline crystal and if so how do you like it and how is the underwater visibility ?
  18. I really like the jackall sasuteki craw for punching and they have some nice 3" drop shot minnows
  19. For punching I run pretty much the same rig all the time 1-1.25 oz tungsten pegged a punch skirt most of the time, heavy hook for me it's 4/0 straight shenk flippin hook and I like gambler creature with the skirt and without I like jackall sasuteki craw, slippage through great and has good claw action on the way down. You can use a jig but it is a real pain in thicker stuff.

    Big Worms

When I Carolina rig I use either Yamamoto 10" cut tail or manns jelly worm in 8" and 12" Never really used any other big worms.
  21. 3/8 will cover 90% of your jig fishing IMO, and I always buy jigs with very full skirts as you can trim them down and pull strands to adjust fall rate and bait bulk. Even changing trailers can help slow or speed up the fall rate. Let water color dictate the color of your jig as well, if it is murky less than 2' visibility go with black and blue or all black or even black and some chartreuse. If it is clear 5+ feet of visibility stick natural colors like green and brown. As far as skirt length I almost alway trim my skirts to 1/4 inch below the hook so they flare for on the fall and at rest on the bottom. And the trailer I like to keep my jigs compact unless the fish are very aggressive, since I only use chunks I don't usually have to trim them but I like to have the claw and just the head of the trailer showing to make it appear as a hidding crawdad. For rattles if I am imitatting a crawdad I have a rattle 100% of the time for swim jigs I never use a rattle. And finally the bite, if it doesn't feel normal swing this is also something you will get a feel for over time and be a line watcher I your line jumps swing, of it runs to the side swing, and obv if your rod jumps swing, hope this helps man good luck and don't give up on jigs, they can be frustrating but they will put some pigs in your hands Tight lines!
  22. Fish the creek channel. When the water is hot the bass will be in that 20+ feet, try deep cranks, football jigs if I is rocky, Carolina rig and even Texas rig. Keep it deep and you will get into em no doubt in my mind
  23. Odds are you broke off at the knot the palomar knot conches down on itself and hard bends in flouro snap easily as it is a stiff line. Try the sandiego jam or even uni knot and you Gould be just fine Tight lines !
  24. For me I would pitch jigs to as much timber as I could find also make sure you are shadow fishing bass wil sit on the shady side of things to stay as cool as possible, this time of year you might not have mug luck that shallow though if there are not deeper points in the area, bass will head to the deepest points of oxygen rich water when it gets into the 75+ degree water. Another good option would be a frog near the pads or if you find any heavy grass mats. Punchin through these grass mats is also a great way to catch them in the heat, but as most of the people said your best option might be to mark the spot and hit the main lake until water temps reach te 60s then your new found spot might be packed with hungry bass
  25. Great fish branden!! Reading the reveiw has got me so much more excited to use these things, the part about how the skirt stays compact in and spreads wide on the outside strands sounds awesome. Can't wait to get mine !!! Sounds like you got another winner north star.
