I've been fishing with Trilene Big Game ( in several tests ) for decades, have caught thousands of fish and several dozens over 10 pounds, I fish with it 90% of the time.

For smallish baits like my absolute favorite, Rapala Shad Rap n'such, a medium power is best imo, but for beefier baits like Traps, DTs n'such a MH is best.

Mexico has been in "hurricane season" since May, for us fellas in the middle of the country that means it's going to rain almost daily until October, which is good because lakes fill up since agriculture doesn't need water for irrigation from them, bad because ..... it friggin rains, rains, rains, rains and ..... did I mention it rains ? and I can't go fishing because it rains or because rain leaves consequences, access to most lakes is through dirt roads which turn into mud roads, plus there are areas where landslides occur so you may not be able to get to to the lake.

It's the slowest time of the year for me not because fish don't bite, it's because it rains like mad almost every day and presonally, I don't like fishing in the rain.

What kind of a silly question is that ? of course you should ! a couple of decades ago I made myself the same question, got me a Daiwa PT33SH, the fastest reel back then, 7.1:1 gear ratio and 33" IPT, other than the drag being crap ( which later was improved with Carbontex drag pads ) it is a nice reel, hardly ever use it, but heck, I still got it.

You name it and pretty sure I'll have it even though I'm not much of a soft plastics kinda guy, I like machine gunning with cranks and spinnerbaits and avoid soft plastics as much as I can but a man gotta do what he gotta do sometimes and if soft plastics are needed that's what I'll use and what I use 90% of the time is a straight tail 6-8 inches worm, used to be Mann's Jelly Worm, now it's Zoom's Trickworm, as for color it used to be purple now it's either green pumpkin or watermelon. Can't be more simple than that.

I used to own GLX and since I couldn't feel the, back then, 100 bux difference to my IMXs I ended up selling it to a friend, so ... you may not always feel the difference.

I tried Bionic Blade, Extreme and Bassmasters series, good rods but I hate the friggin PowerHumpGrip reason why I only kept the BMs and I fished with them real good, they ended up being my kid and my nephew's starter rods.

My thoughts: that contraption is going to hang up in an eyeblink when you throw it where there are rocks.
