Ok, I know, I 'm a selfish SOB that keeps "secrets" but today I feel generous and I 'm going to share one dirty trick that has helped me catch LMBs with severe case of shutmouthitis, don 't know if will work on smalljaws but you can try. You need a soft plastic jerkbait preferably one with a long thin tail to make it more lively and attractive, instead of T rigging it like everybody does you hook it at about 1/3 of the length of the bait wacky style on the head side. Cast, let it sink give it a series of twitches and then swim it like a crankbait for a couple of feet, then twitch it again several times and swim it again. Repeat the process until you are out of the spot where the fish are cruising, then reel in fast to retrieve your bait and cast again.

Without the usual ammount of 5, 6, 7, 8 pounders, yes I 've caught big bass on topwaters not a big bunch of them, Jitterbugs and Zara Spooks but I think it has more to do with a dumb bigun striking the bait than the actual hunt for the bigun with a topwater, topwaters are just not the kind of bait I tie for the hunt. Let 's say that I cast the bait and a bigun hits it ----> luck.

Yup, a friend of mine is the most jinxed person I 've ever seen, we no longer invite him to come along with us cuz chit happens ! Low_Budget down here I 've fished with my friends in Tampico in their small ( 12 ft ) V hull very light fiberglass boats, the catch is that they have double hull, V on the outside and flat bottom on the inside. it comes with two molded seats but the seats are not part of the flotation device of the boat, the flotation is between the double hull, it 's filled with foam; you can remove the seats and won 't hurt the flotation of the boat. You get the benefits of the jon and the benefits of a V hull, since you are skilled you could turn one of those into a boat similar to the Megabass boat. Problem is I don 't know if you could find something similar to what I 'm describing and I can 't find a picture to show you what I 'm talikig about.

It depends greatly on what 's your idea of a "decent" jonboat. You can get a new jonboat for 5-800 dollars, but it 's not the jonboat but what you put inside of it and with what you are going to power it.

Glass ? no sir ! hone them skills and go carbon fiber, after you have gone through you could have purchased a 22 footer instead. But like you say a fully rigged glass 10-12 jonboat like that one could be a good business idea. What 's the problem with jonboats ? they are alaways just an aluminum bath tub with nothing on them, now, not all of us have woodworking skills and most hulls are hillbilly intended, they offer the bare minimum and you have to figure out the rest, most uf us rednecks and hillbillies lack completely of imagination but a skillfull and imaginative guy like you think ahead......Low_Budget Jonboats, that sounds nice !

True but not in bass, it 's called protogenus hermaphroditism, sea bass, clownfish, swordtails are some of the species that do so.
