  1. More than I need, not as many as I would want. And I refuse to reply, the 5th ammendment is taylor made for cases like this.
  2. RW is right on the money, GLoomis warranty covers even owner stupidity..... like slamming the door on your rod.
  3. I am right handed, have always fished with righty baitcasters cuz back then in the age of the dinosaurs when I started fishing with BCs the only BCs available were righties. Once you have created the pattern of movement it doesn 't matter if you have to switch hands, even my spinning reels have the handle in the righty side. Save yourself some trouble and time, you cast with the right, crank with the left get a lefty BC.
  4. Matt a couple of weeks ago at Zimapán I was eyeballing at the dock a brand new Comanche Z19 Ranger tied right next to our tub, then th owner appeared and asked me if he could take a look at my japanese stuff, heck why not ? I 'll let you eyeball my stuff if you let me take a closer look to your boat. Beautiful boat to say the least, the interiors are beautiful, much better than my friend Balta Hong 's Nitro ( 700 LX ) and his is a really good boat, even the trailer is beautiful and that 225 purred like a kitten ( I should say like a lion cub because once you pull that throttle it turns into a real beast ).
  5. My expensive lures are not going to catch anything stored in the Tbox, the worst thing that could happen is that I loose them, killed in action is a honor. My reels & rods are tools, I like expensive ones not only beacuse they look good but also beacuse they perform, I don 't run a museum of expensive tackle.. Even though I consider scratches a character mark but I try to avoid as much as I can reels & rods from being scratched, but that 's how I am. My vehicle looks like out of the show room, my rods and reels look out of the box, I find as gratifying to see my stuff looking as new as fishing with it but I do use them.
  6. About TT, you will never see a bad review there for a reason, if the product doesn 't get a good review they just don 't post it.
  7. The Smak and the Air D are actually not freshwater reels but light saltwater reels. From the remaining I would choose the Alphas Type F, excellent light bait reel without sacrificing the ability of casting the regular baits. Since the Pixy was mentioned, nobody can beat the Pixy for the lightweight stuff, it casts like a dream but you are not going to like the drag, quite lacking of power for those used to stronger drags. As for line capacity......I don 't see why some complain about the line capacity, 75 yards of regular 10 pound test nylon sound more than enough to me taking in consideration it 's a light lure specialty reel and light lures don 't fly much.
  8. Don 't own any but have fished with them long enough to give me a general idea, they are not cheaper than IMXs, they cost the same an IMX cost but with almost GLX quality, weight and feel. Between an IMX and a Heluim LTA my choice in lightness and sensitivity goes for the Helium, I cant say about balance, it feels tip heavy, the fulcrum even with the reel on it is ahead of the reel seat; but that 's based on the fact that I fish mostly with 6 ' rods while the Heliums I 've fished with were 6 '6". Excellent rods, and yes, Dan does own at least 2 LTAs ( if I remember well the number is 4 ).
  9. Yeah but you don 't die from freezing, A/C shure is good thing so unless you are out there getting a sun bath like a lizard nothing is going to happen to you.
  10. Good luck ! I sure hope you get the job........but either you get the job or not the BaitMonkey will be there to met you with open arms.
  11. Golden Trout are also not a California exclusive, Onchorhynchus mykiss aguabonita ( or chrysogaster, there 's still a debate on the classification ) can also be found in the mountains of Sonora, Durango and Chihuahua where it 's a native. One of the reasons why rainbows are not stocked in the natural water courses of those states by SAGARPA is preciselly because they don 't want golden trout gene pool polluted with triploid ( farm raised trout ) genes. I know that because I worked in SEPESCA ( later absorbed by SAGARPA ). There used to be strong golden trout program in those states when I worked at SEPESCA, the intention of the program was a double edge sword, restocking golden to where they were originally found and eliminating undesired rainbows. Also, if you notice, I replied at 6.26 PM, the original post by Bass 109 was edited at 8.26 PM.
  12. I still don 't think it 's the tip, I fish a lot with medium rods, very seldomly I miss a hookset. New hook doesn 't mean it 's sharp, it cen even get dull inside the box or pack, the only hooks that I 've found really sharp right out of the box are Owner cutting edge, but those don 't have a "point" per se, meaning point as a narrowing of a wire. Owner cuting edge have a triangular cross section where the three angles are sharpened, pretty much like the needles used in skin sutures that cut through skin like butter.
  13. I don 't think that 's the problem. I think the problem is: 1.- Hook not sharp enough: a dull hook is dull no matter how you look at it, if it 's not razor sharp then it 's dull. 2.- Bait not rigged properly: if you are not fishing with a really powerful rod then you need to skin hook the bait so when the fish strikes it the thin ammount of plastic covering the point hook breaks exposing the hook point. Hooksetting can be achieved by either brute force or by continous pressure applied to the hook point on the tissue contact point in the fish 's mouth by the fish itself during the fight and the pressure of the rod, but your hook has to be really sharp to cut the tissue.
  14. It really depends on what you 're fishing and both can take place in the same day, some spots are better worked slowly and thorougly, others are better taken on the run.
  15. Maddening isn 't it ? My friend Pedro is the run&gun type but not the kind of run and gun that moves fast casting to every single spot ( something that I can stand ), he 's worse than that, it 's the type that runs to one spot, drops anchor, casts for 20 min and then lifts the anchor to crank the engine and run to another "likely" spot 30 miles away. Two weeks ago we had a heated discussion about this, I located a great spot on the finder, the fish were there and the kind of spot you can milk all day long and catch fish all day long, we dropped anchor and began fishing it, after me catching 11 fish and he catching nothing I saw that gleam in his eyes, ya know what I mean, he was ready to move, why fix it if it ain 't broke ? the fish are here, I 'm catching them, if you are not then it 's not the fish problem it 's you are not fishing right; why crank the engine and go looking 10 miles away for what you already have right here ? Finally, just not to continue the arguing which most probably would have ended with me getting off the boat ( like it has happened many times before ) we lifted the anchor and moved >, ok, he selected the spot, it 's his spot and ...... how come he didn 't catch except a couple of fish meanwhile I began anhilating them ? Just to crank up the engine and guess what ? but of course, to travel another 10 miles looking for another spot. It 's been said that man is the only animal that trips twice on the same rock, and here I am, tripping with the same stone over and over again for the last 20+ years we have fished together, some people will never learn. :
  16. Half a quart of tequila my man and a scoop of dirt. Benefits: 1.- Viruses get drunk with tequila, when they are drunk the begin with drunk discussions, get mad at each other and begin to fight, dirt is so they can stone themselves to death when the fight begins. 2.- It may not cure you but after half a quart of tequila you forget you 've got a cold and don 't care.
  17. Chronarch Mg or Daiwa Alphas Type F, with the Type F you get TDZ feel and weight but at 100 dollars less. But if you 've got the dough, why not endulge yourself ? Steez baby.
  18. Ok, since I 've got more money than brains and I 'm as stubborn as a mule I fish deep divers, ultra deep divers and swimbaits with the slowest reel available, Curado 200B38 and got two of them for that purpose alone, for other cranks and some surface plugs ( jitterbugs ) I use an Alphas Type F, an Alphas Itö, a Pixy or my old XLT plus or Black Max Abus, all of them have an IPT between 20-22"; for jerkbaits and other surface plugs I use my TDZs, Curados, Chronarch SF, Metanium XT, Scorpion 1000, Scorpions Mg, Chronarch 50 Mg or Stradic; it all depends on where I 'm going, there 's no point in fishing with a slow or medium reel a jerkbait when what yopu 've got to do is pick up slack as fast as you can ( like you do when you worm fish ). If you 've got the money and the space for a lot of rods n 'reels get specific tools for specific baits and techniques; if you don 't have either then get the most versatile reel you can get for "general purpose" use. A reel with an IPT of 20-22" inches fullfils that requirement.
  19. You mean that the ONLY place you can catch albino trout is in California ? I don 't think so, here they are the specialty of the house.
  20. Not everything is just about horsepower:
  21. Sorry Chris, it 's Shadick, don 't know why doubled "d" when I typed. Shadick:
  22. You can insert the hook right in the middle like the pic shows, the other way is to rig it on the first third of the bait ( so it 's off center ), that gives the bait a completely different type of movement, the bait darts sideways when twitched and helicopter as it sinks, lethal presentation when the rest of the guys are fishing conventional wacky rigged baits. If your rate of fall is too slow you can add a split shot to accelerate the fall. Other baits that can be rigged wacky style are shad like jerkbaits like shaddicks or flukes.
  23. The frame was red, the sideplates were black/grayish. It looked like it had a stripe from the front to the back.
  24. Order a Chronarch Mg handle to Shimano, it 's compatible with the Scorpion Mg.
  25. The chimp is sitting right here next to me..... He says that when are you going to make up your mind and stop fooling around..... That you NEED an Aaron Martens Megabass rod to fish those Ikas properly..... .... and a TDZ Type R+ 2506 spinning reel...... but he can settle with a Steez Custom 2506. That what he said, I 'm just the messanger.
