  1. The Metanium MG is equivalent to the old Chronarch Mg, both models are discontinued, the Metanium is a larger reel than the Scorpion Mg.
  2. Bag can't hold anything more and I've got more stuff that needs to go in there. Get LARGER bag.
  3. Mailman and FEDEX guys arrived early in the morning. Mailman dropped from Japan. Shimano Scorpion 1000 Mg Daiwa Revros 2004 Imakatsu Javallon 110 Megabass Gatta X Parahatch Megabass Gatta X Turbuleance Fedex dropped: 2 LC Real California Live Bait 1 LC Real California 20 packs of Sweet Beavers 10 packs of Ugly Otters. Better start early the year with a little new stuff. LONG LIVE THE ALLMIGHTY BAITMONKEY !!!!
  4. It comes as no surprise what you are mentioning, which is completely normal with high resistant to abrassion line. CX, CXX, Trilene XT, Big Game; all those resistant to abrassion lines have a much larger diameter than limp lines, the higher the test the less user friendly they become. If 12 lb CXX is quite wiry I can imagine how wiry it should be 17 lb test, it must be one heck of a line for flipping. If you liked the line all you need is to reduce the diameter, I mainly fish with Big Game and 10-12 lbs is quite user friendly. I also have reels spooled with CXX 12 lb test and it 's pretty much like 12 lb Big Game.
  5. Here 's an interesting point: LIGHTNESS, obviously that a rod weight is important, it makes the fishing experience more gratifying in the weight aspect, fortunately with more modern materials long gone are the days of those heavy weight rods I used to fish when I was a kid. But one thing is the actual weight of the rod and another thing is the feel of the rod. The point is, the feel is given by two aspects, the weight of the rod and the other one is the BALANCE of the rod, where you want the balance is personal preference but you can make a rod "feel" like feather by changing the balance of it by adding weight. For example: My IMXs rods with my sub 6.5 oz reels balance great, the pivot point is displaced immediately below the reel on the reel seat, that makes the combo feel featherlight. It actually weights a little bit over 10 ounces. My Kistler Magnesium rods have split grip and no fore grip, the rod itself is lighter than the IMXs, theoretically speaking, sitting a sub 6.5 oz reel they should feel "lighter" than an IMX/ sub 6.5 oz reel combo beacuse it weight less than 10 ounces, however that 's where the reality slams you, the combo is not well balanced, the pivot point is not displaced to the reel seat, it continues to be on the rod ahead of the reel seat. The combo feels tip heavy. So what 's missing on the Kistlers to make the combo "feel" like feather ? well, what 's missing is the few tenths of ounce of cork the fore grip adds to the rod ahead of the reel seat to balance the combo. Obviously you are not going to add those extra cork rings, what can you do ? sit a heavier reel on the rod to bring back the balance and place it where you want it. Did that, my 8+ ounce reels balance those light Kistlers very well, no longer they feel tip heavy, on the contrary, they feel well balanced.
  6. Exactly Bassgirl, besides, we all understood what you were talking about.
  7. Reasons why you want it to be fast: 1.- You are not going to crank the bait. 2.- Since you are not going to crank you need it to pick up the slack line as fast as it can so you can keep a tight line and in case of being needed, to set the hook faster. 3.- If you don 't get any hits when fishing to a target where the rest of the surroundings lack of importance you want your bait back ASAP so you can either move to another spot ot to make several more casts to that target. 4.- If you are flipping you need to get the fish out of cover ASAP or it will tangle in the cover. Which one between a Citica and a Curado ? that 's up to you, but Citicas only come in one speed.
  8. It 's spelled SpaNISH bass not Spain bass. : No need to be rude if someone doesn 't type properly.
  9. St Croix or GLoomis ?
  10. It should really be a good reel since it took the place of the now discontinued Capricorn equivalent in the Daiwa line to Shimano 's Stradic. It does come with waterproof drag.
  11. They won 't dry out in the short term but they will exude the oil, oil that will ooze from the hard tackle box into anything in contact with it, also, some colors like red shad bleed the color staining everything it touches and you end up with multicolored baits. The best is to leave them in their original package ans store the original package in a hard box or a binder. BPS 'spinnerbait binder has 5 pages with two zippered compartments, each compartment can hold 2 packs of baits ( except the largest ones which come in a slightly larger bag ) so each page can hold 4 packs of baits x 5 pages = 20 packs of baits. Also the binder is expandable, all you need is to purchase replacement bags.
  12. Chris ' recommendation looks fine for me, when I 'm limited to 4 combos one of the selections is a spinning combo. The Stradic 2500 with it 's 33" IPT is a great reel for soft plastics because it picks up slack line in an eyeblink and has a poerful drag.
  13. VITAL !!! YOU TWO ARE FUNNY..... ;D Don 't tell me you have never heard the call of mother nature while fishing :-?, it ain 't pretty when the nearest toilet is 10 miles away.
  14. VITAL !!!
  15. Best is in any type of reel: fill up to 1/8 " from below the edge of the spool regardless of the diamater and how much line the reel can carry. You can use higher than in baitcasters but not in spinning, higher than in a spinning reel causes the line to "jump" from the spool when the bail is open, and there you are with your spinning reel spooled with over than recomended diameter ( notice I didn 't say: pound test ), you open the bail, swing the rod and cast your lure, as the lure flies ....... whoa ! a monster ammount of line all twisted up snags on your rod 's last guides.
  16. It 's easy, most fish opposed to you are cold blooded ( poikilothermic ), their body temperature is the same as the surrounding environment so their methabolic rate is affected by the water temperature, cold water ----> low methabolic rate -----> less active fish, but the same is also applies to high water temperatures, very warm water does not mean more active fish once the temperature has gone above the comfort zone of the fish, a few degrees in temperature make a completely different scenario when it comes to fish activity.
  17. 1.- If you are a fan of adjusting the braking with the Scorpion you don 't need to unscrew the sideplate, it can be done with the external adjustment. 2.- If saving $50 dollars or more and free shipping purchasing a Scorpion Mg isn 't an advantage I don 't know what else could it be.
  18. The weight is ON when you slide it up along the groove until you hear click. More activated weights ----> more braking.
  19. Most definately a largemouth.
  20. I hope you don 't get dissapointed like me when you pull the rod out of the tube and find out it 's as thick as a broomstick.
  21. Soft: Castaic SBT, Imakatsu Javallon 160 Hard: Fish Arrow Monster Jack Baby, Jr, Sr; Strike King King Kong Hybrid: Imakatsu Cofunazzy
  22. It 's as easy as this: add the rod you want to your cart, then when the page opens with your order click on CALCULATE SHIPPING CHARGES, small widow will pup up on the left upper side of your screen, place your zip code and country, click on CALCULATE ----> bingo ! there are the shipping charges for several means of shipping.
  23. Man, that TDZ needs a little cosmetic upgrade to match the red accents of the rod, something like this: and a spool like this one: Sorry that the red anodized spool tension knob found in the TDZ Type R+ is not sold as a sapare otherwise it would look great.
  24. Yeh !.....ain 't it kool ? 8-)
  25. Wow I was the one who asked Marty Stone since his light-line flipping technique sounded like it could work with an Ika IF the weight could get the Ika to fall straight down. :-? Preciselly one of the reasons why Ikas are such good baits is because they don 't fall straight down.
