The reason why you ALWAYS hear us old farts to keep your baits in their original packages is so you don 't make the same stoopid mistake we did decades ago by taking the baits out of the original pack and storing them in boxes: Certain colors BLEED THE COLOR out of the bait and stain everything it touches, how fast ? as fast as you can imagine, leave a red shad colored worm touching any bait for half an hour and you will see what I 'm talking about, do that under the heat and it will happen faster. Unless you want funky colors keep the baits in their original pack. Oil from the baits gets thin with heat and seeps through the dividers and oozes from the box, you end up with a pretty darn "oily" tacklebox, which traps dust and dirt and turns into an excellent sandpaper. Scented baits loose their scent ( if scent is important to you ) and stink everything inside the box, ever opened your tacklebox in the middle of the summer with a pack of Otters inside of it ? Catfish stink bait is a mild perfume compared to that. Some Tboxes even though the manufacturer says are wormproof are not THAT wormproof, after prolonged exposure and contact with the soft plastic begin to deform. Many baits will eventually dry out and become hard, others will become gummy. KEEP THE BAITS IN THEIR ORIGINAL PACKAGE

All you need to activate the weight is to slide it up until you feel the click ( towards the edge of the spool ), activate as many as you want, cast and if you don 't like how fast the spool spins increase or decrease the number of weights until you find your poison. It 's a matter of personal preference, in my reels with that system I only have 1 weight activated, but I don 't recommend it to someone that hasn 't developed an "educated" thumb.

The Cardif has 3 large screws on the hadle side plate ( 2 on the bottom and one on the top ), unscrew them ( they are not going to fall of ) to remove the sideplate and the sideplate will come appart with the handle assembly. In my Ram Charger SUV the rods are carried in Berkley 's HORIZONTAL rod holders attached to the ceiling of the SUV, the foam insert grabs the rods securely and prevents it from falling, you can carry up to 12 rods.

I have one rod for that purpose: Shimano Clarus CSC66H, it 's an extra fast action rod capable of handling baits up to 1 1/2 ounces, but I would not use it to troll any kind of crankbait.

Until very recently ( 3-4 years ) when GLoomis, Kistlers and Shimano dealers established themselves in Mexico none of my rods or reels were covered by any type of warranty, the moment they crossed the border I was on my own. Who would spend 500 bucks in a rod with no warranty ? I would.
