  1. The BPS Stick-O is in practical terms unsalted, yeah you 're going to read in the catalog that it 's loaded with salt, but the case is, the bait has very little salt in it, they just pack the baits in the bag and then add a lot of grain salt to the bag, the moment it touches the water all the salt goes away. The baits are very durable and not tear easily, but the durability is because the bait is quite hard when compared to others, which also has a drawback, you need to texpose the hook or your hookset will be poor. About 3 weeks ago I went to Zimapán and caught 23 fish with one bait ( texposed hook ), could have caught more but I hung it up on a huizache and lost it. 23 fish, 1 bait, not bad at all.
  2. AVID ! That 's an easy one, grab a 1/2 oz ratltrap, cast, let it sink and count, then reel in, if there are any weeds you can bet it 's going to find them.
  3. Drought ? where ? it 's been two weeks in a row that 's been raining cats and dogs, have to mow the lawn twice a week or it becomes a jungle in an eyeblink.
  4. Yes, haven 't caught a double yet but it 's either on one or the other, have lost plenty of baits too but I 'm not counting them.
  5. Ecogear Grass Minnow Kahle hook Size 5 split shot Rig: Grab the EGM insert the point of the hook behind the head and drive the hook along the back of the bait along the middle line just enough to cover the hook throat end expose the hook point, attach split shot above the knot, cast, let it sink to the desired depth, shake rod and reel in slack, catch fish.
  6. 1 image says more than a thousand words, if you want to learn how bass works, how it 's built and what tickles it 's fancy get Glenn Lau 's films, yeah old, but bass haven 't evolved that much in 30 years.
  7. Color means nothing, presentation and location means everything, choose the color you like, I like metallic finishes because they have flash, and flash plus sound plus vibration are ways to call in the fish.
  8. There are realistic dragonfly lures available in the market: River2Sea makes them. Kool looking ain 't them ? You need them ? Nope Why I say you don 't need them ? cuz you don 't have to mimic to the last detail how a dragonfly looks in order to fool bass to bite a towater lure, bass ain 't as choosy as trout when it comes to baits. Dragonflies are very common here where I live all you need when there are hundreds of dragonflies is to pick out a popper, any kind of popper ( even though I prefer in such cases a Chug Bug due to it 's slender profile and not much popping ) and you are ready for some fun.
  9. Well it was EXPEDITOR SERVICE, 3 months of waiting .... not bad, I guess my wife will have to wait, we didn 't pay expeditor service. That 's why I don 't get, renewal or new one it doesn 't matter, you ask for a new one at the county office down here in the morning and you pick it up in the afternoon, which is a blessing for everyone, a few years ago you had to go to Mexico City, Guadalajara or Monterrey. >
  10. Exactly ! Size is an attention getter, bigger baits are easier to see than small baits Vibration is an attention getter, more vibration easier to feel Sound is an attention getter, more sound easier to hear Color/flash is an attention getter, hot colors or dark colors & flashy are easier to spot Movement is an attention getter, erratic movement indicates it 's an easy prey and it 's "un-natural". The catch in order to catch is to put all those together if possible when you select the bait and present it right in the right location.
  11. If you ain 't fishin where your baits are going to hang up, you ain 't fishing where bass are.
  12. There is no "rule" book on how to rig a bait, in practical terms any soft plastic can be wacky rigged either longitudinally or transversely to the bait, the hook can be located anywhere and not necessarily in the middle of the bait, just because it 's not "conventional" it means it 's wrong. And yes, it works. If rate fall seems like a problem to you ...... dude, use nail weights inserted in the bait, weighted hooks and split shots, it 's simply a matter of ordering them, BPS has nail weight inserts and Mister Twister weighted Keeper hooks. All you need is a wire cutter to remove the keeper and bingo, there you have it, weighted wacky hook.
  13. Post a pic, it 's easier to identify than with such a short description.
  14. It 's not a matter of being a reel snob or not, it 's not a matter of being able to catch & land a fish with a Zebco 33, for that matter you don 't even need a rod or reel, a Coke bottle or a beer can spooled with line is more than enough to catch fish, hell, I 've done it and did it for several years until my dad purchased me my first rod & reel; but a coke bottle or a beer can spooled with line can hardly qualify as "serious" fishing gear. With that same money you can purchase a so-so spinning reel and it 's going to be better than a Zebco 33.
  15. 1.- $300-330 2.- The only person selling Pixies in the US Brooklyn Bill 's Tackle Shop. Excellent person and businessman, highly recommended dealer. Otherwise, if you want to put your hands on a Pixy is either through e-bay ( they ocassionally pop up in the US auctions ) or through a japanese dealer like GinRinPeche, Plat, Ichibantackle or Japantackle, all of them also highly recommended.
  16. My personal experience places me with the guys on this one, why would a good ole mexican bass that has lived all it 's life in a warm water pond ( so warm that tilapia which is highly intolerant to cold water thrives and spawns 4 times a year ) would come out and strike with vengeance a 6 inch rainbow trout colored soft plastic swimbait if it has never seen a rainbow trout in it 's life and will never see one ? tilapias certainly do not look like rainbow trouts in shape, size or color.
  17. Can 't get sick or bored on something that I seldomly fish with.
  18. The line capacity of the Custom Certate 2506 is 4 lb/110 ( 0.205 mm dia ), 8 lb test .... the thinnest I can find ( Magnathin ) is 0.23 mm in dia = 98 yards of Magnathin, other 8 lb lines are 0.28 mm or more.
  19. It 's true that spincasters don 't backlash but they twist the line, worse than a spinning reel, also, since they have no roller or levelwind the line is picked up by a pinnon, which causes line abrassion and with time the line also abrades the pinon which causes more line abrassion, a simple pressure drag system which lacks of enough smoothness, low IPT which I wouldn 't like in a reel for fishing baits where I want to pick up the slack fast to maintain a tight line like jigs or soft plastics ...... Nope, I wouldn 't consider it for "serious" bass fishing.
  20. There 's a person in TT selling a Silver Mica RH for $225. Silver Micas are mainstream Pixies ( colored Pixies are limited edition ). It 's an excellent price.
  21. Several of my uncles have dairy farms, on the land they have ponds used to transfer water from the wells to the irrigation system for the crops to run the food supply for the cows. I stocked or they already had bass, bluegills and tilapias in them. Those ponds are my little honey holes not far from my home, besides, in practical terms I 'm the only person that fishes them and they all are off limits to anybody else ( my relatives don 't want anybody aside from the family in their land ), 10-15 min drive and I 'm ready to fish. At first when I began fishing the ponds I made a killing everytime I paid them a visit, you could even throw a bare hook and the fish would hit it, which is not strange since the fish had seldomly seen a lure. Since they are so close to my home I visit them frequently ( 2-3 times a week ) for a "quickie" after work, but me visiting them frequently has caused that the fish have become increasingly harder to catch, you can still have a good time catching the little ones ( 0.5 - 1 pound ) but the bigger fish are another story. Now to catch a 3+ pound fish requires a lot of thinking and a lot of dirty tricks that I have learned through the years. I tell all this because me going to those ponds is like training for the times when I go to the lakes and it works, I catch fish when the rest of the people get skunked with the usual techniques and baits. Consider it as training.
  22. You can forget that reel, as a matter of fact, you can eliminate any 2506 model reel from your list of wannabes, all 2506 models are shallow spool models and i need the extra line capacity are preciselly what those reels are not which also includes any Shimano JDM with the letter "S" at the end of the size models, those are also shallow spool models. Shallow spool models are for thin diameter line line 3-4-5-6 pound test japanese fluorocarbon lines which are very thin or for PE line ( japanese braided ) no higher than 15 lb test.
  23. Yeah, mattè pastel red.
  24. .... or when taking a pic of your partner while he 's holding his catch.
  25. The Pixy will outcast and outperform a Sol in an eyeblink with an arm tied to it 's back. I have two Pixies the first time I tried one tied a weightless Zoom finesse worm ( which doesn 't really weight that much ), aimed at my intended target, made the cast and ......uh oh !, :-? casted past my intended target by 20 ft , I thought the Scorpion Mg was good for this kind of stuff ( casting finesses baits ) but the Pixy left me like this ---> . Paired to a GLoomis CR721 it becomes the ultimate finesse mean fishing machine, the only drawback with the reel is that the drag is on the light side so you need your hooks to be razor sharp and when rigging baits with hidden hooks ( T-rig, Florida, C-rig ) is better to texpose the hook.
