  1. Texpose when you rig.
  2. Sol & Alphas lubing & oiling, aside from some insignificant differences ( different handle & different gear material ) they are the same reel. Check your schematics to see where does that part you are mentioning is located. BTW, which kind of oil you used to lubricate the bearings ? the wrong oil viscosity in those bearings worsens any sound.
  3. Which is the absolut worse tackle, gear, boat, etc ( fishing related ) you have ever purchased or received ( yeah, they usually come as gift ) in your life. To me having a distinguished place in the "Hall of Shame" are: Line: Magnum 7/20 & Magnum 14/40.- wohooo, got most of you on that one, didn 't I ? ;D, perhaps not many have heard of it but this line was developed by DuPont ( when it still owned Stren ), in theory the line was either 7 or 14 lb test diameter with 20 or 40 pound resistance, it was a eliptical shape line supposedly designed for BCs only, according to them the eliptical shape made the line lay flat on the reel. It behaved horrendously ( zero castability and more memory than a pack of elephants ), it had more air and water drag than a parachute and it was quite a triumph to tie a decent knot with it. Lures: Aside from you know which ones ( TV lures ).- Heddon Cousin and Heddon Cousin II.- Oh boy, these ones have been in my tackle box for more than two decades ( actually they are in the Memories T-box ) and I 've never caught even a friggin cold with any. They are so bad that they don 't even hang up ! , have thrown them in the nastiest cover and they come out of it like if nothing happened, but I bet I throw one of my Megabass inside of that and it 's going to hang up in an eyeblink. : Rapala 's Long Cast Minnow.- yeah, even in this world a company known for it 's excellent reputation can have a skeleton in the closet, this is it. Yeh, yeh, it does cast nice but be careful where you throw it cuz if it touches something hard the teeny tiny lip is going to break and you end up with a fancy Spook. Reels: Daiwa PT33SH.- one of the first "burner reels" I don 't know if they remanufactured it but the old one I gave away was an authentic POS, the quality was nothing to be desired, it had the lousiest drag I 've ever seen ( a Zebco 33 had smoother drag than that thing ), it made all sorts of noises and when you reeled in it felt like a coffee grinder. Daiwa 's computerized reel.- kool looking worthless POS, it had a small "puter" sitting on top with a LCD screen that supposedly told you how much line went away in the cast and how much line had been retrieved, only problem was that the 'puter was good for 2 casts. Another thing it had ( pretty innovative ) was the levelwind assembly, when you pressed the thumb bar the line guide parted into two pieces, ech one moved laterally to allow the line to flow without "obstructions" , oh it did make some nice casts and everything was fine until you engaged the spool with the handle, the line guide closed ....... trapping the darn line between the two pieces ! Quantums classic baitcasters.- yup, they started back during the age of the dinosaurs for those who don 't know it, lousy drag, lousy bearings, coffee grinder feel and a disposable pinion.
  4. My man, there 's no easier musical instrument to master than the door bell, I 'm really good at it. ;D
  5. Better having Mom kissing them basses than Jimmy Houston. If I were a bass and saw Mr H comin to kiss me ........ I 'd say no way Jos é , f off ! >

The beaver craw can be rigged in the conventional ways of rigging with our without the flaps separated, with the flaps joined it 's behaves like a paddle tail worm or grub, separate the paddles and you 've got yourself a craw imitator. Another way of rigging is a reverse weightless T-rig inserting the hook between the flaps, that way, if a allowed to sink on a slightly slack line the bait sinks AWAY from you. The * is a double tail skirted jig ( copy of the spider jig ), those can be rigged with a conventional jighead, a stand-up jihead ( with weedguard both ) or even a shakey head, just impale the grub and fish it like a jig on the bottom, swim it or jig them.
  7. Wind from the east fish bite the least, wind from the west fish bite the best. ( ) Atmospheric pressure affect the swimbladder of fish ( ) Moon phases rule the everyday behavior and activity of fish ( ) You can 't catch fish after a cold front ( )
  8. Watermelon, watermelon red flake, watermelon gold flake, watermelon red/green flake, watermelon green flake, chartreuse chartreuse/green flake, green pumpkin, green pumpkin red flake, orange green/black flake, firetiger, smoke pearl blue, red shad, watermelon/white laminate, watermelon/lime laminate, chartreuse shad, black/blue laminate, black/blue swirl, black blue flake, sweet potato, swirl baby bass, swirl caramel apple, swirl grasshopper, swirl watermelon chartreuse and a bunch of other whose names I don 't even know. Why ? oh well, I like them all purty colors , catch 3-4 fish with one color then switch to another color and so on. There 's no such thing as a surefire color, choose the color you like and fish it with confidence, that 's the only surefire mechanism, confidence.
  9. Hey Matt, pretty good job yo got there. The catch in keeping all that stuff in my tank was: 1.- Weekly 50% water changes 2.- A munster size skimmer 3.- Ozonizer 4.- A big wet/dry system Man that can breed Discus can acomplish anything. Too bad I had to tear it up and sell all the animals when I had to close the store back in 1996, the terrible economic situation of the country during those years forced me too, aquarium fish are not a necessity, with what I sold I was barely able to pay the electric bill, all the rest of the money came from my pocket.
  10. Really I do prefer fast/xfast tips for anything with single hooks on it while mod/slow for anything with treble hooks hanging from it.
  11. Oh yeah Avid, that Home Improvement series sure did have a lot of advocates.
  12. Rick, any soft plastic will work as a trailer, I use anywhere from a grub all the way up to a brush hog.
  13. I agree, the spook is not that easy to walk, back then during the age of the dinosaurs when we didn 't have Sammys it took me a good couple of months to make the spook walk right, and I practiced daily. The new baits are just so easy to walk right.
  14. Well, you won 't loose many hits ...... now I 'm trying to figure out how much time you are going to spend anchored to the lake bottom when you hang up without a leader to break.

    woohoo

    U lucky dawg !
  16. 8 goes in the right side corner pocket. Ooooooooops , wrong "pool" thread :-/ , sorry !
  17. Forgot too add: don 't bother much on the tank decor, gravel, rocks and some driftwood, Oscars like to dig so they tear up aquarium decor in an eyeblink. Yup, I also did saltwater reefkeeping, had a massive display of hard & soft corals plus fish in a 20 gal tank ( kinda like a challenge ) here 's a list of what I had in it: 2 open brain corals 1 elegance coral 1 plate coral 1 bubble coral 2 leather tonga mushroom corals 3 rocks of colonial anemones ( mushroom corals ) 1 sebae white anemone 1 sebae yellow anemone 1 purple long tentacle anemone 3 cleaner shrimp ( yellow ) 3 cleaner shrimp ( red ) 2 orchid shrimp 3 anemone crabs 10 turbo snails 1 bicolor blenny 1 pseudochromis diadema 1 square pink anthias 1 yellow anthias 1 flame angel 4 firefish 1 brown saddleback clown 2 fiji damsel Used to have another long tentacle anemone but the elegance coral ate it >.
  18. Much to learn you still have my young padawan. Yoda.
  19. That 's a Hawaiian Wiggler.
  20. That 's what you think.
  21. There 's a very simple explanation to your problem, you can control the spool rotation on your crappy reel, right ?, well you can control it because crappy reel has crappy rotation control and crappy spool supporting brearings so the spool rotates at a much slower rate so controling the spool rotation is easier. But the Abu has more modern technology, better rotation control and better bearings so the spool spins a lot faster than the one on the crappy reel, since it spins faster you can 't control it ----> solution: you need more practice and to tighten the braking so the spool rotates at the speed it does in the crappy reel.
  22. Unless you can purchase it on sale I 'd say no, not that they are bad, on the contrary, they are very good but you can get a more modern technology reel for the same price.
  23. Firts time is their fault, next time is your fault, never leave your gear in the vehicle.
  24. Flake adds flash to bait, even if it 's black, it 's the light reflecting properties of the flake what you are looking for.
