  1. I have several of them, good rods for the price, not the lightest, not the most sensitive but they get the job done for a good price and are better than many rods in the same class.
  2. Back then in the age of the dinosaurs you could choose between RH baitcaster and .... RH baitcaster, that was it, why they were RH only is something I don 't know but I do know that if you wanted to fish with a bc you had to learn to switch hands to reel in with the right, it may not make sense to you but it don 't matter, you had to do what you had to do and manufacturers didn 't care if it made sense to you, you wanted a bc you could choose a righty or a righty. It don 't make sense to me that in many countries around the world the steering wheel of vehicles is on the right side, if the vehicle is auto no problem, but if it 's manual transmission that would be a chore shifting gears with your less dextrous hand, shifting gears requires much more dexterity and coordination than I can ask out of my left hand which is only good for holding things ( like a fishing rod ) or scratching my rear end.
  3. *** my man. BIG thumbs up for it !
  4. Well, to be fair, I don 't know if when you become an employee of one the multiple shipping enterprises they give you a course on how to screw up for good. I ordered a GPS and clearly typed in the adress where it had to be delivered: 1820 SOUTH 10TH, see ? that cardinal point that points exactly the opposite of north, guess what ? it was delivered to 1820 North 10TH. Ok, the person who recieved my package even called me to Mexico to ask if the package belonged to me and asked what did I want to do, I asked him to keep the package and that I would pick it in a couple of weeks. Went to his working place and he even took me to his home to give me the package, you have no idea how appreciated the gesture. Here 's the point, the UPS sticker attached to the package is about 12 x 12 inches, the letters with the adress are about 2" in height, it reads: 1820 SOUTH 10TH But attached to the package on one side there was another tiny sticker about 4 in long x 2 in width, with teeny tiny letters you can hardly see with your bare eyes: 1820 North 10TH How can the delivery guy pay attention to a teeny tiny sticker when on the other friggin side of the danged package you 've got a sticker 5 times larger with BIG letters with the correct adress ! > Am I missing something here ? :-?
  5. Fish with it, it 's far from being a collector 's item, on auction the most you could get for it would be around 4-5 dollars.
  6. 3/4 of all bass lures and sinkers fall into that weight category, so your rod is in practical terms good for a big bunch of lures.
  7. Sensitivity in a rod my young apprentice does not depend on the softness or stiffness of the tip, it depends on the quality of the materials used to build the rod, direction of the graphite fibers, density of graphite fibers, bonding resin/graphite fiber ratio, wall thickness. Ugly Sticks can hardly qualify in any category as a prime class product, it doesn 't mean they are bad, it means that they are far from being a top notch rod. They do have a place speacially if you are in a tight budget and can 't afford something better. So to answer your question, nope, I wouldn 't fish jigs and soft plastics with them, for trolling they would be a better performer than a good quality rod for other purposes, if you hang up while trolling they are not going to break.
  8. Wait until you have your Daiwa Pixy ( yeah that one, the one can cast something as light as a fart into the next zip code ) spooled with 15 lb test braid, with the mag brake set to 0 and literally zero tension, you happen to barely touch your partner 's line when you cast and ........... there you are with a face, line coming out of every single opening the reel has :-X , it ain 't pretty ! >
  9. Work and save until you can get a real rod for the application, you are 30 dollars closer to the Okuma. Patience is the hardest thing to cultivate.
  10. 3:16 Mission fish is a classic Optimum Titan Basstrix Paddle Tail Tube.
  11. If it looks like this then it 's called a "frog hook": It was originally used in weedless hollow plastic "frogs" however it can be used to add hooks to many baits like soft plastic swimbaits that don 't have a hook hanging from the belly.
  12. You guys have never seen on of my backlashes, they don 't occur oftenly but when they do this is the only remedy:
  13. Trying to cast them big plugs ? :-? Nope, with 6'6" MH you won 't cut it :, you need something with more muscle, perhaps a H but that really depends if the "heavy" is capable of loading with something over 1 ounce, which unfortunately is in most cases not the case, you will need a longer rod somewhere in the 7 1/2 ft, those usually are capable of handling up to 1 1/2 oz and have a longer handle so you can cast with both arms, I 'd like to see you casting a 1 5/8 oz plug, for an hour non stop with one arm. :
  14. Get a rod capable of casting it first. :
  15. Dont worry Raul your fall spree is just a couple weeks away. Got year long shipping spree Gman, it 's just that in previous years that summer shopping spree was huge ( big time ), BMs took control but now it 's more like selective shopping spree, one good item and that 's it for a while. I 've been eyeballing a rod for a rodless Pixy I 've got, AbuGarcia Fantasista Regista.
  16. Don 't know if them evil twins are on a diet or they weren 't hungry :-?; I went on my yearly summer shopping spree to MacAllen, obviously I went to Academy ( can 't pass that one ), heck I even went to two Academys and this is what I got: 2 packs of GYCB Flapping hogs 1 pack of Super Flukes 5 packs of shakey heads 5 packs of 3/0 EWG gammys and I had to purchase red ones because that 's all that was left 2 hook sharpeners ( gifts to be ) 2 Brush Grips 1 gas connector And that was it ! I can 't believe it, first time ever I 've gone to an Academy without purchasing a ton of fishin n 'boat stuff. However I have to believe ( and it makes me jealous ) that they had a much better prey with my friend Pedro, the boat monkey got him good, the bait monkey had to wait cuz he didn 't purchase fishin stuff but the archery/huntin ' monkey turned into a real gorilla, it beat the crap out of his wallet and credit card, had to carry him on a stretcher in crirical condition to the car, the funny thing was ......... he had a big grin on his face. ;D
  17. Last time I purchased a senkos ( yamasenko, flash, Stick-o, whatever you want to call it ) : Jul 27 2005, from that batch ( purchased 1 pack of each 5 colors ) I still have 7-8 baits left of each pack, if we account all the senkos I 've used during the last 5 years I 'd probably say that I 've spent about 100 baits in all the colors & sizes I 've got in stock, in other words, I rarely fish with a senko.
  18. That 's an easy one ( I also recomend the Pop Max: Tonosama Frog or CMF ( mracked mattè frog )), get the bait, wrap it as a gift and give it to him on his B-day right in front of the enemy.
  19. Scents? what do you use?? None
  20. Down here in the south we hunt, not because fishing isn 't good, it 's just because it 's the only time of the year we can shoot a wild animal with permission and not having to worry of getting a hefty fine.
  21. I 'd say that it will do well taking in consideration that most hard swimbaits begin around that size just don 't expect to catch a bigun on every cast, smallish bass can be incredibly stupid and do hit baits that size and larger with a lot of frequency.
  22. Raul

    Back up for air

It 's too much forum for only one mook, Avid had his hands full.
  23. Hank Bauer - Right fielder Johnny Mize - first baseman Gene Woodling - fielder ( left mostly ) Elston Howard.- catcher & left fielder
  24. Hope you have a rod powerful enough to cast it.
  25. The oil I use for my Alphas, Pixys & TDZs is Daiwa oil ( you can also use Shimano oil ), it 's extremely low in viscosity ( almost like water ) but it goes away easily so I oil those bearings every trip. I have to say that the Alphas & the Pixy do make a louder hum when you cast and the spool is rotating than other reels I have, I attribute it to the sideplate design and material acting as a resonance chamber.
