  1. Actually with the new reels we the customers won, the new Citica 100 is just like the old Curado 100 with a gain, it weights 1.2 ounces less, the Citica 200 has the same characteristics and more goodies than the old Curado 200 SF had for 30 dollars less, the only thing I didn 't like about the new 200 sizes is the increase in overall weight. So Shimano took away from you the old Curado and gave you a better reel for the same money. Following the same scale they took away from you the old Citica and gave you the new Cuxis for the same money and the Cruxis has goodies the old Citica could only dream about. We the customers got the best part, better for less.
  2. You won 't get better prices and even if you do the shipping charges eat away what you saved if you purchase only one lure, however Tackle Warehouse gives you free shipping if your order exceeds 50 dollars, 50 dollars is not that much, some lures, some worms and some hooks and you fill that 50 dollars limit easily.
  3. Clarus are not bad rods, on the contrary, they are great rods for the price but vs an Avid or a GL2 there 's absolutely no contest in lightness and sensitivity. The only reasons I would purchase a Clarus ( and I have several ) over the others would be: 1.- I 'm on a tight budget ( I always are in a budget but somehow ole banana breath doesn 't seem to get it ) 2.- I get a good affordable rod that is not used much or the application doesn 't demand a higher quality rod ( which is the most common case ). So my Clarus rods are relegated to flipping & swimbaiting, spinnerbaiting or back-up.
  4. The only thing the new Curado and the old Curado have in common is the name, completely different animals, side by side the new Curado has all the goodies and more that you found in the old Chronarch SF at a much better price, $200 bones is a very reasonable price for a better reel than the old Chronarch SF which was $250, in other words, you save 50 dollars and get a much better fishing machine.
  5. That would be an excellent choice, using your Ugly Stick for cranks, crank rods don 't have to be that sensitive and since the Ugly is quite forgiving it beheves more like a true crankbait rod.
  6. Distance ....... there 's a lot involved in the distance you can achieve with a reel aside from the braking system of the reel, bearings ( type, quality, friction coeficient ), lubrication ( oil viscosity, ammount, frequency ), spool inertia which depends on size, diameter, weight, design, add to that other factors like, rod length, load, behavior of the rod, guides ( friction coeficient ), plus lure weight, lure aerodynamics; plus line type, memory, behavior, friction coeficient; then add casting technique and the variables upon which you have aboslutely no control like height above sea level, humidity percentage, wind direction, blah, blah. All those come into play when we 're talking about casting distance, reels by design can achieve many things but most of casting variable factors involved and gaining distance may not necessarily has to be all in the reel. Even the way you stand up or hold your rod has a direct impact on how much distance you can achieve.
  7. Crucials are excellent rods but they are not IMXs.
  8. You set the centrifugal brake and use the magnetic to fine tune the braking. Are there certain ways to adjust the brakes for different situations? Now on that subject ...... how good are you in controling the beast ? I ask because I very seldomly do adjustments to the brake either magnetic or centrifugal ( depending on which system the reel has ), my oldest Curado has been with the same brake setting for the past 12 or 13 years regardless of what I 'm fishing with or if I 'm flipping, pitching or if I 'm casting against the wind ( 1 weight on ).
  9. Another senko thread The admin. took all the time and effort to move and gather all the information so you could find it HERE.
  10. Since your main line has greater resistance than your leader set your drag to the leader 's resistance, if you are using an 8 lb test leader then your drag should be set to a little bit over 2 lbs.
  11. Or just by changing the presentation you start catching them again with the same bait. My uncles ' ponds got bombed almost on a daily basis by me, at first I whupped them good with lipless cranks reeled in steadily at high speed, the first 3 or 4 outings I made a killing, then my catch ratio began to diminish, instead of changing the bait all I did was to change the way I retrieved them, the catch ratio increased to normality immediately to fall down again, reeled them in steadily at high speed again and began whupping them again.
  12. or use the Ulgly Stick also for trolling, they don 't break if you hang up.
  13. It ultimately becomes a matter of personal preference and to use your tools accordingly. Are baitcasting reels mostly used for huge fish and super hardcore structure? Nope I've lost a few bigger fish this summer, snapping my 10lb test in thick weeds. The reel is not your problem my friend, it 's your line, fishing the thick stuff with 10 lbs is a tricky business, on the other hand your spinning reel may not hold thicker line. Do you guys like baitcasting better than open faced? No, I like them both in equal terms what set up can I get, that's not to expensive? How much can or are you willing to spend ? Do I generally need a longer, stiffer rod than I use with my open faced reels? Rod length, power and action depend on the application and personal preference.
  14. I used to have a Berkley Stinger paired to a Ryobi B1 reel ( made the mistake of leaving it in the car on plain sight and somebody opened the car and stole it > ). Fast action rod.
  15. I take those JF, but I still have to take pills to lower my cholesterol levels or they sky rocket to the point of instead having blood circulating around my body I get oil :-X ( kinda like a hydraulic system ;D ) and I 'm only 43 years old. Now let 's look at it on the bright side, I discovered I had high cholesterol two years ago one morning I felt dizziness, at first I thought it was related to my ear, after 3 days more of me getting drunk every time I moved my head I decided to take a visit to the doctor, since my family has a history of heart realted conditions I went to the cardiologist, he checked me and ordered some blood tests, that 's when we discovered I had dangerously high cholesterol levels considering my family 's medical history; the dizziness was a warning from the Allmighty of what may come in the future, better getting dizziness than a massive heart attack like my father, he was 49 and his heart attack was so severe that he almost left me and my sister orphans ( I was 7 and my sis was 5 ), he stayed 2 months in the hospital and it took almost a year before he could work again. My kids are simply too young ( lil Raul is 4 and Olga is about to be 3 ) for me to die on them, so I take my pills, follow my diet strictly and have my blood tests every 3 months.
  16. Mano a mano ole banana breath is unbeatable Kent, so far in the last 3 months he had made me purchase another Pixy, 4 of those Cabela 's TDZs and the Core, now he has in his sights a rod for one of the Pixys, something really 8-), matching colors n 'stuff, he wants an Abu Fantasista Regista for that rodless Pixy. : The darned never ending story, no wonder why I 'm always flat broke. :-/
  17. Like Natural, I just purchased a couple of bags at Academy, they look real good, soft but not super soft on the body and heavy. BTW, not all Academy stores have them, I went to two stores in MacAllen, the one near Mission didn 't have them in stock. :-?
  18. Forgot to add: if you fish with it change the hooks for razor sharp better quality, the ones they come with are as dull as a roller ball pen.
  19. I have one, it feels very nice on the hand but I can 't say more cuz I haven 't fished with it :-/, got back from my 4 day summer shopping spree just be up to my ears with work again and most probably I won 't be able to go feechin this weekend. >.
  20. Which Shimano rod you are talking about ?
  21. I take pills and I 'm on a restricted diet, which is rather absurd me on a diet considering I 'm 5 '9" tall and weight 110 lbs :. No saturated fat for me which means no pork meat, no ham, no bacon, no egg yolk, no salami, no chicken skin, no animal entrails, no shellfish, not all types of cheese; only super lean beef, skin free chicken meat and fish. In other words, all the stuff I like to eat is off limits. >
  22. You just purchase the components man, here 's a good place to start: www.staminainc.com; there they have all sorts of components, for jigs all you need is to purchase the head and the skirt.
  23. Rods GLoomis IMX and GLX are manufactured in US; Mossys, GL3s & GL2s no, crankbait & spinnerbait " ? " StCroix starting from the Avid and up Kistlers starting from the Helium. Reels Ardent but I wouldn 't put my hands in the fire for them. Companies own themselves to their share holders, the more they cut on costs the more profit they make for their share holders while maintaining the same price for the customer, sad but true, as a share holder I don 't care where my money comes from as long as I get it.
  24. Well it ain 't T-rig, it 's me, I do that too to many of my jigs, I want them barely weedless but want as little interference from the weedguard as it is possible for fishing in places where there 's very few or non existant cover but there are rocks where a non weedless jig will surely hang up. For fishing the snaggy stuff I use full weedguard.
  25. From the ones you mention Muddy the HMX is a lot more expensive, so the Clarus is not in it 's class, the Compre would be in that class, both are similar being the HMX a little more sensitive. Clarus vs GT, would be a tough nut to crack when it comes to performance, the place where the Clarus beats the crap out of the GT is that with the Clarus you have as much as 3+ more times from where to choose in length, power, action single or two piece than what you have available in the GT.
