Yep that 's what I meant.
An Extra Fast tip is quite stiff, the rod bends too little on the tip, not good for baits with treble hooks hanging from them, the only way to compensate the stiffness of the tip is reducing the power of the rod for one more forgiving to act as a shock absorber; single hook baits like spinnerbaits, jigs & worms have no problem, they offer very little or no leverage point to the fish from where to loosen the hooks and unbutton the lure.
I undertand the urge you have for purchasing stuff, listen from someone more experienced and older than you, I myself had that urge and made many mistakes when purchasing rods, reels and lures, mistakes that cost me money and when I look at it in retrospective I wonder how many other good things I could have purchased with the money I spent buying tons of crap. Learn from others experience, you will become a much better and intelligent spender.
Back to the subject of rods:
One rod can 't do everything, what makes a good soft plastic rod makes a terrible crankbait rod, if you simply can 't purchase 2 rods then purchase the rod that will fit most baits, a good quality MH Fast rod covers all single hook baits which represent 2/3 of all the baits you need for bass, it 's not the greatest choice but still, if you just can 't have it all that 's what I would have, for feel baits you need to have the best you can.
Now, if you can purchase two rods you can do a lot more, you can get a lesser ( lesser doesn 't = lousy )quality M/ML rod for crankbaits and for finesse tactics with lighter line and smaller baits even if it is a Fast action rod.
I 've been doing that for years, as a matter of fact, I purchased my first crankbait rod ( specialized ) only 9 months ago, which means that for the last 25 years of bass fishing I didn 't have a crankbait rod and I fish a lot with crankbaits because I like crankin.
