  1. Well, I fished the glass for the most part of the day, an ocassional breeze that didn 't last for long, an ocassional cloud that covered the sun as a much welcomed relief from the blazing sunlight and heat from both air ( 85 ° ) & water ( 70° ), tough conditions ( no clouds, no wind, no shadow and 20 ft visibility water ( could have been more but it 's difficult to say with all that bottom covered with algae & weeds ), very tough bite also.
  2. Look at it from the bright side .... it could have been worse. ;D
  3. The best most scented bait you can find won 't catch fish if you don 't fish it in the right place with the right presentation. I 've used them all and to tell you the truth I can 't see any difference aside from the action I can get out of the bait depending upon the style, size and shape of the bait.
  4. The bait is meant to be fished slow, you tie it either with a snap or with a Rapala knot or you kill the action of the bait.
  5. Got four of them, 2 Parahatch, 2 Turbuleance, pretty kool looking baits that move quite crazy, I do fish with them but don 't think they are a magic wand you can pretty much catch the same fish with a Jitterbug. Obviously that the kool factor of then is a lot higher than the Jitterbug ..... but so is the price. :-/
  6. Pond bass, skiny pond bass normally = 's too many bass. They have eaten everything and now they don 't have anything to eat, instead of stocking forage fish to feed them ( which is a very short term relief unless you do it on a regular basis like every week ) what needs to be done to bring balance to the pond is removing excess bass. What you prefer, lots of skinny bass or a few well fed bigger fish ?
  7. The Tierra has a waterproof drag.
  8. The fact that most prefer baitcasters over spinning reel means absolutely nothing, they have the idea that baitcasters are better and that 's it. Eurpean anglers have been fishing with spinning reels for everything and anything for a very long time, fact is, most of them prefer spinning over baitcasting. I 'm a moderator in a Spanish bass forum, 2/3 of all the members fish with spinning reels.
  9. Bass do a lot of that oftenly when hitting soft plastic jerkbaits, flukes, shad assasins, shaddicks or sluggos, I 've seen the same fish hit 4-5 times the bait before chewing on it. When fishing those I wait until I can see the line moving before setting the hook otherwise you hook nothing.
  10. Yeah Kent, I know it, looks kool but got lotz of plastik and the magnetic braking is so-so, besides that, just a little dirt on the external adjustment and the push lever dial locks up when it grinds against the sideplate. The Procaster PR100 is a better reel.
  11. Exactly. Price of Scorpion at JT = $170 + $15 S&H = $185 Price of Curado 100D at Delo 's = $165 + free shipping.
  12. No on both questions, of course that it depends on what species you are trying to submit as "record" , I don 't think a 4.5 ton white shark is going to go to the official weigh in without some kind of resistance or it 's going to be easy for you to take it alive for weigh in. The "official weigh in" process is quite simple, you need: 1.- Certified scale: it doesn 't have to be a IGFA certified scale, what IGFA means by certified is that it 's certified by the authority that certifies scales in your country, for us in Mexico where we don 't have IGFA certified scales on every corner the butcher 's scale is good because it 's certified by SECOFI ( the official authority ) 2.- Pictures of the fish with measurements 3.- 2 witnesses 4.- In case you are trageting line class record you have to submit a sample of line from your reel to be tested by IGFA . and that 's it, you can submit your fish for record. Nowhere in the requirements and regulations it says you have to present the fish. Remember it 's very important to know the laws and regulations applicable from state to state and from country to country.
  13. M, MH or H depends more on how much muscle you need to pull them out of cover or the lack of it. My home lake is filled with standing timber and I can horse them out with a medium rod, takes a little more skill than with a heavier rod but it can be done, however I would not fish with a M rod in Lake Guerrero or Sugar Lake for the same crankbaiting, cover in those lakes is a lot more dense.
  14. If you are talking about the Procaster 6+1 ( PR100H/HL ) that 's a reel I would recommend easily ........ but not for crankbaiting, with an IPT of 28" reeling in deep divers with that reel feels pretty much like trying to reel in a bucket, that is, in case the bucket runs straight with that speed. TW has them a t a very good price and you get free shipping also. Sorry to say that in that price range Daiwa beats Shimano by far. If what you want is a crankbait reel then I would seriously consider saving my money and getting a Calcutta 50, it 's built like a tank, reels in slow and powerful, doesn 't weight much ( 7.9 ) oz, good drag, good bearings, meant to last for years.
  15. If you are going to have a custom built rod all you have to ask to the builder is to paint the blank or certain parts of it.
  16. Anybody of them verified if the snake was really venomous ?
  17. Dude, it 's easier to customize the rod to color coordinate the reel than to do it all the way around.
  18. Jun is basing his comparison or trying to make a comparison by trying to update the comparison between the Scorpion and the Chronarch Mg based on the spool characteristics and capability of the reel to cast light baits with ease, however I really don 't think that a reel that weights 2.5 ounces more and has other features can be compared mano a mano with the ChMg. Actually the equivalent of the ChMg is the Scorpion Mg. I have the three of them and I do not agree with the comparison Jun is trying to make. Aggie, what you read in the reviews is pretty much what you will get from "real life" experiences, as baptized by the TT crew, the reel really is a legend and for many of us our first experience with a JDM, it had a lot of virtues, was a better caster than the Curado 100B, had the cold forged handle, septon contoured knobs, metallic cast control cap, low mass further lightened spool, external brake adjustment and the price was not that bad. But not everything was milk and cookies, shorter handle that for some is more a drawback and the drag even though very smooth is light better suited for lighter lines and finesse fishing than what we were used to. Wanna hear my take ? right here, right now with all the new improvements Shimano has made to It 's domestic market reels the Scorpion now doesn 't looks like such a great purchase unless you can get it real cheap ( you missed the GinRinPeche sale ), the new Shimano reels in that size are a better bargain, they are lighter, have better drags, better bearings and equal or similar components. Now if what you want is the "bling" associated to owning a JDM that 's another story.
  19. You know you are an old fart when you mention the name of a bait and only a couple out of 11,000 members remembers the bait. Gee :-/, I 'm getting old !
  20. If you can see the fish the fish can see you and refuse your offerings, it 's more a matter of how you approach the fish than with what you approach them, fish in clear water become very spooky and there 's a reason for that, their predators can see them. Downsizing and reducing the line diameter helps, not because thinner line can 't be seen by the fish it 's more a matter that it displaces less water and fish are less able to feel it, smaller baits look more easy prey, add some very light weighting and some dirty rigging methods and you usually catch them.
  21. Well Ronnie, I ain 't confused, I did read carefuly your post, you are planning for the BR meeting, so in order to support BR to have more BR meetings in the future the BaitMonkey whispered in your ear and convinced you that you had to prepare for the BR metting, you clicked on the Cabela 's link and ....... grabbed myself a couple of canvas bags to carry my 3700 boxes in and 3- 600 yard spools of Yo-Zuri Ultra soft. Also snagged a few rod blanks "on sale" at 'Mudhole' to get a new rod or two in the works for said trip. I don 't know about you but for me it has the scent of bananas, big time ! ;D
  22. Ok, until recently I never owned a technique/lure specialized rod, for more than two decades what I 've been doing to compensate the stiffness of pure graphite rods for fishing treble hooked baits is to reduce the power for a lighter power rod, for cranks depending upon cover I use a ML or M power rod with a fast tip, what I gained was the enhanced sensitivity of graphite, something that allows me to fish a crankbait through very heavy timber and brush, I can manuever the crank because I can feel what it 's hitting. When I fished with my old glass rod such thing was almost imposible to do. Back in Dec. I purchased my first specialized rod, a Kistler Mag TS crankbait rod, even though I hate the reel seat I find the blank to be not only light but very sensitive ( not as sensitive as a pure good quality graphite rod ) but sensitive enough to allow me manuever the bait through the cover, as for the behavior of the blank compared to my pure graphite ML and Ms, it sure does bend like a ML when under pressure.
  23. Benn catching fish with Shad Raps for more than two decades, it 's a proven fish catcher, Tail Dancers have a unique wobble not found in any other bait except for the Storm Thundercrank and a lure you have probably never heard about called Smoo by Bagleys, that banana shape gives out the good vibes. DT 's because of the shape are not like Shad Raps, first of all they have rattle, balsa wood Shad Raps don 't, the DTs wobble, the Shad Raps wiggle, different vibration. Different lures, different appplications for different conditions.
  24. It 's a combination of factors, lure design, lure shape and rod material composition. Half an ounce bait on that rod is not too much, it 's rated for even more, but the size of the blade and the shape is what 's giving you that ammount of vibration, vibration transmited to the rod which in this case being a higher graphite rod the vibration will be felt enhanced opposed to what you are used to, glass & graphite composite rods have a much dead feeling compared to pure graphite.
  25. Davis, my man, don 't think that I took your post with my feelings hurt, I found on the contrary that it does reflect the way that many of us as we grow older become, which in many cases it turns out to be quite funny. Maybe I don 't qualify as "old" in age, at 43 can 't say I 'm THAT old, mean and cranky ? oh yeah ! , I can be mean and cranky with some people ..... maybe some people under certain circumstances bring out the meaningness and crankiness from me. The guy I was talking about, what can I say ? the truth is that he just tickled my fancy, it was not his running up and down the lake at warp speed what bothered me, it was thet he didn 't even bother to slow down, when you see a small boat like my tub coming your way or when you see you are coming his way whay are you supposed to do ? I am a gentleman, mean and cranky but a gentleman anyway, and since the lion thinks everybody has his same condition I consider that everybody else is a gentleman ( until they prove me wrong ) I think that the least you can do when you are driving a rocket is to be considered and polite and reduce your speed so your wake doesn 't hit the smaller boat. Twice he did it, two times too many, he asked for it and he got it. Maybe what the guy needs is me putting him in my boat and then I me drive in his boat pass, him the way he did with me just for him to know how it feels when the wake hits you.
