  1. How about here: Younger women Faster horses Older whisky Cuban cigars
  2. What to do when the lakes are frozen? Geeez, I have no idea :-?, never been there so I can 't tell. Not even when I was a kid and lived in Mexico City and fished the pay to fish lakes in Puebla, Estado de M éxico and Hidalgo ( places where you can fish for trout ) I 've seen a lake frozen, usually when I arrived there they have already thawed.
  3. Made in China doesn 't = *****, made in China means that the product is made in China and the chinese make the product with whatever the company has given them to build the product, they don 't decide with what materials the product is going to be made, that decission is made by the corporate headquarters of the company. If the brass decides that they are going to use this and that the factory wherever it is located is going to build it with this and that. So actually the fact you are stating is that is made in China, your point is ? Reread above.
  4. Yeah, right, ask Bmadd.
  5. S and D immediatelly recalled all the reels they had already sent away, stopped the production and sent all customers that the problem would be solved immediately, all you had to do was to ask for the parts or send the reel to an authorized service center. I have no idea what 's going on in Abus top brass ' minds, all I know is that they are making the company look like crap, I have two XLT Plus series bcs and a Cardinal Ultracast I purchased over 2 decades ago and so far never had any issues with them, heck, I still fish with them ! and maybe because the normal wear has sanded down some of the roughness the machining process leaves they are now smoother than brand new. I was so pleased that I purchased the Black Max series when it appeared in the market, but the Black Max isn 't built like a tank. Then came the infamous Eon and Torno ....... , those have a very special place in my "Hall of Shame " So ...... what the heck is going on in Abu Garcia ?
  6. You didn 't get a bad batch, they are stiff, on the other hand ..... caught 12 fish with one Stik O, could have caught more but it died in the line of duty when it hung up and I couldn 't save it. ;D
  7. For every problem there is a solution if you only bother think to find a solution or ask for a solution to the problem. Use a toothpick Rig your worm, insert a toothpick into the bait, in through the hook eye all the way to the other side and clip away the excess wood, the bait won 't slide. In my case mother nature has been generous and has supplied us southern fishermen with all kinds of thorny plants so we actually don 't have to worry much about not carrying toothpicks, they are there, all you need is to harvest a few . I prefer huizache thorns over toothpicks. ;D
  8. Beginning when or why is a question where your guess is as good as mine, I don 't own nor are associated in any form with the company, what is obvious is that they are using lesser quality in the materials, the kind of wear that 's being described it 's an indication of: 1.- bad materials 2.- lack of quality control It is simply absurd that a reel purchased in May is exhibiting problems of wear 5 MONTHS LATER. It simply should not happen. Abu: " LOOOOOOOOK, here 's our newest & meanest low profile baitcaster !!!!!!, purchase it while you can" 5 months later Abu: " OOOOOOOPPPPPPPS. sorry guyz ! we forgot to tell you that the centrifugal brake in you reel is going to wear in 5 months or 10-12 weekends, whatever happens first" C 'mon ! :
  9. What I would do if I were you would be to send back the reel for repair, it must still have warranty, once repaired then I would most probably sell it and then use the money to get me something else.
  10. Bad quality in the materials. There 's no reason other than that one, you can expect a certain ammount of wear from anything which is normal under normal use, shock absorbers in cars last X ammount of miles, same can be said about brake pads, tires, etc, even a lightbulb has a lifespan of X ammount of hours. But taking in consideration that the reel is new to the market hearing that the ridges wear out un such short period of time it shure makes you think about the quality and/or durability of the rest of the components of the reel. It 's not like if you are changing the brake settings every 5 min 24/7.
  11. Tungsten weights give away a better clacking sound than steel and lead sinkers when they hit the glass beads used in some rigs.
  12. Actually they aren 't, they are excellent for those fragile thin worms that tear to pieces when you try to hook them with other types of hooks.
  13. Not all baitcasters can cast light baits with ease and at a decent distance, not all rods load up with light weight baits. If you want to cast light lures with baitcaster you have to have both, the rod & the reel for that application. You CAN cast 1/16 - 1/32 oz at a good distance with the right setup: A Chronarch Mg, Sol, TDZ105H can cast those weights, now if you want something a little bit more specialized a Pixy or Presso will do the job better than any of them. A ML / L rod paired to any of those reels can cast those weights also but you also have to have the right line those reels can handle 8-6 pound test extremely well.
  14. The TDZ handle may not be compatible with the Millionaire, you get the handles from Daiwa.
  15. That 's what happens when the only thing you see and you care about is ..... the price tag. Ya 'll think that I 'm on LC, MB, GLoomis, Diawa, Shimano pay roll ? nope I ain 't, I don 't get a penny cut in half from any of them for recomending their products so if you buy it .... fine, if you don 't buy it .... fine, I don 't get anything. I recomend what I find to be good regardless of the price, but think about it a little bit, who wins, who looses ? I loose because it was me the one who spent the money, if it works I win, If it don 't I loose, but if I loose then who wins twice ? you because you didn 't put your own money into the test, and if it works you win because I made the investment before you did.
  16. My friend, it 's not a problem of loosing some energy from one form to the other, it 's simply a matter of efficiency and cost, if you generate energy to produce hydrogen better spend that same ammount of energy in electrical power to charge batteries than loosing more energy when you have finally produced the hydrogen to be used as fuel for the fuel cell. You can 't compare the needs of energy of 315,000 inhabitants to the needs of energy of 300 MILLION americans, besides that, they have a lot of free energy from geothermal sources, it costs them nothing. Nuclear energy not only is dirty, it 's dangerous; you don 't burn tons of oil or coal to produce energy but you generate tons of toxic and radioactive waste that are going to take millions of years to breakdown. And accidents happen with nuclear reactors, the 3 Mile Island and Chernobyl incidents are going to stay in the memory of everyone not for days but for decades. Just ask the voters of Pennsylvania what they think about having a brand new nuclear facility at their doors. If you want a a cheap tow truck to tow your vehicle then change the fuel source for a cheaper one, natural/butane gas, hundreds of buses, public transportation and vehicles here use natural/butane gas. But not everything is honky dory with the conversion: 1.- The price of the conversion to natural/butane gas ( which is paid in the relative short term with the savings you get from using a cheaper fuel ) 2.- It may not be easy to access the station in some places. Here is most places gas is not delivered by pipeline, it 's supplied to the users either by small mobile tanks or by a large truck that fills your home larger stationary tank so the gas supply is stored in a station and that station provides the service of filling the tanks. 3.- You still need to have a big tank containing the gas in the back of your truck which reduces the cargo area. 4.- Engines need a more frequent maintenance routine. 5.- You drive by and everybody thinks there 's a gas leak somewhere. 6.- There 's always the possibility of a gas leak.
  17. Don 't know much about that particular cactus but I do know that many cactus in my neck of the woods can be multiplied by chopping parts of it, allowed to "heal" and later planted they grow roots.
  18. There 's only one itsy bitsy problem with hydrogen, true, it is the most abundant element in the universe problem is ...... that in practical terms is just doesn 't exist as hydrogen alone, it 's always bound into something else and the process to free it consumes a lot more energy than hydrogen provides on it 's own. The easiest way to obtain free hydrogen is to separate it from water and in order to do that you need electricity and to produce electricity you have to generate it from somwhere that means, since with energy there are no free rides you have to invest in free energy: solar, eolic, geothermic or hydro and those cost a lot of money and still, you the ammount you need for the process is more than what you obtain from it. Until somebody finds away to obtain free hydrogen the fuel cell technology for the masses is going to be just a dream. Iceland can do a lot of things because for staters their country is one of the most volcano active countries in the planet ( free and abundant supply of geothermal energy ), the country is covered with snow most of the year ( free and abundant water to boil with geotermal energy to produce steam that runs generators ) and with a popultaion of less than half a million inhabitants their energy requirements are insignificant. Man there are three times more people in the city I live in than in Iceland. How many buses can you need to transport less than half a million inhabitans ? not many, fuel cell buses ? oh yeah we can afford that.
  19. I fish with both without any distinction of need, application or technique. In the final run: baitcasters backlash, spinnig twists the line, it 's just the nature of the beast and there are ways to reduce or prevent both.
  20. OPEC is an organization of oil exporting countries but the ones running the show are the 7 "sisters" which form the true cartel : Mobil, Exxon, Texaco, BP, Royal Dutch-Shell, Chevron and Gulf-Aquitaine. There are a few other smaller companies owned by a country with subsidiaries like Citgo, but they have a minor role in the transport, processing and distribution of oil and it 's products. Most of the oil in the world falls and moves through those companies.
  21. Yep, but with a cork-screw bait holder. I don 't think I 've ever seen one with a built-in cork screw bait holder with that kind of hook but that can be solved, just clip in a HitchHiker clip by Tru Turn in the hook eye. The ones I showed are made by Zipper, Owner has ones just like those. *** baby

The only thing I hate of the antenna in the Bug Ant and Rock Claw is that them darn bluegills rip them away. And there you are casting your Bug Ant or Rock Claw, suddenly you feel taptap-taptaptap and you know from that moment on you are going to fish an antennaless bait >., oh well, same thing happens to all my tubes, skirted grubs and GYCB Kreatures and Ikas. :
  23. U funny Dom.
  24. Actually the situation here is that people haven 't realized that things have changed ! and in most cases they have changed for good. What was written and said before no longer applies to modern day technology. I 'm 43, been fishing for 32 years, got any idea how glass rods were back in the 70 's when I began fishing ? heavy, noodly and as "alive" as a 3,000 years old egyptian mummy, then came graphite, got any idea how were graphite rods back then ? oh yeah they were light ( compared to glass ) but they were like fishing with a pool cue. Modern day rods, even the cheap ones are much better than the best rods you could find in those days. No longer glass is better than graphite for crankbaiting, modern glass rods are eons away from those glass rods I used to fish with and the same applies to graphite, the complain was that it was too stiff, well that was back then now were are in another planet. Now as long as you have the adequate action ( mod/slow ) it 's only a matter of choosing which one is your poison.
