  1. Imagine you are going to war, you are going to drive the most advanced tank in the history of warfare, kinda like an Abrams tank but, and here 's the catch, the Abrams you are going to drive has cruise control, the finest leather upholstery, Infinity sound system, all the goodies you expect from a luxury car. Well, that 's exactly how a Calcutta TE is.
  2. I took my sabatical year AFTER college.
  3. Dude, the speed of the worm or jig is determined on how many times you hop the bait in a period of time, in other words, it 's dones with the rod but reeling in the slack line to maintain contact with your bait after every hop is something that 's done with the reel, for jigs & worms get the fastest reel you can.
  4. The lightest reel you can find for 100 bucks is the Citica 100 DSV ( 7.4 oz ).
  5. NO Oooops ! I 'm in the south !
  6. The TDA could be a good option but still, no CRRBs. Zillion does have CRBBs.
  7. The Sol is aluminum but doesn 't have corrosion resistant bearings so yo 'd better rinse it quite good after fishing brackish water, the Fuego is magnesium, non coated magnesium, I wouldn 't even let it breathe near a salty environment. The Sol is a smaller profile reel but the Fuego is as comfortable as the Sol. The Sol is a slower reel ( 22" IPT ) while the Fuego is a fast reel ( 26" IPT ). The Fuego has a deeper U shape spool than the Sol 's narrow shallow V shape spool. Drag is the same in both reels, 8.8 lbs.
  8. It is a proven and undisputable fact that if you are not there you ain 't gonna ketch nuthin.

    bait help

You see the banner right on the top of the screen ? Second box says: Fishing Articles Place your cursor on it and the box highlights, start by clicking on the links, read the articles and if you have a doubt feel free to ask. And if we don 't have an answer we invent it. ;D
  10. A shakey head is not a small jighead, a shakey head is a jighead either round, flat bottom ( stand up ), or football with an oversized hook ( 3,4,5 or even 6/0 hook ), it may or may not have a baitholder. Reason why it 's called shakey head is because instead of hopping the bait you shake the rod tip several times, this makes the bait quiver.
  11. At the prices I 'm looking at Reeds then screw the GL2s !
  12. Not really, some reels have or had better characteristics than their domestic counterparts for almost the same price, like Scorpion 1000/1001 vs the old Curado 100B. I think they do I have no idea what does QC means so I can 't anwer. Performance can be measured overall or by parts, lighter reel ? heck yes !, smoother ride? heck yes !, external brake adjustment ( like in the Scorpion and Scorpion Mg ) ? to some .... heck yes !, cold forged handle vs stamped metal handle ? heck yes !, further lightened spool ? heck yes !, models not available in the DM ? heck yes ! Many times the differences between a JDM and a DM are minor and purely cosmetic, other times the differences are noticeable. Would I purchase a Scorpion Quickfire instead of a Castaic ? not really, the only difference between both reels is the color. Would I purchase a Scorpion Mg over a Chronarch Mg ? well until recently Shimano didn 't have something comparable to the Scorpion Mg, reason why I purchased the Scorpion Mg long time before Shimano introduced the Chronarch Mg, now that both are here I see no reason why should I purchase a Scorpion Mg other than the price if I can find it cheaper than the Chronarch Mg ( like when Ginrin was giving them away for an absurd price ), the external brake adjustment ? well I can live without it, I very seldomly touch the brake settings. Would I purchase a Scorpion 1000 over a Citica 100 DSV ? most probably I would get the Scorpion over the Citica 100 DSV.
  13. Son of a gun ! a Leyend Elite for $180, holllly cow ! I wouldn 't bother purchasing it now even if I have to wait 3-4 months before I can go to MacAllen to pick it up, man at that price I wouldn 't mind waiting a year !
  14. You didn 't get a bad batch, that 's how they smell always.
  15. I would purchase 2 combos: Spinning: GLoomis GL2 SJR722/ Shimano Stradic 2500 or Daiwa Tierra 2000 Casting: GLoomis GL2 CR723/ Shimano Citica 100 DSV I can 't say go and buy a StCroix Avid from X or Y store if they don 't have an on-line store because I 'm limited to on-line stores only, and even sometimes those sales are at store only sales.
  16. Compatibility may be possible, availability is a simple NO, Shimano doesn 't sell the knobs separately from the handle assembly.
  17. The Sol doesn 't "need" any upgrades, the Citica, Curado and Chronarch Mg also have a stamped metal handle. The Sol looks better with a TDZ handle but that doesn 't mean it "needs" it. If that were the case the Curado and Chronarch Mg also "need" a cold forged handle.
  18. FALSE, you will not live longer, when you wife finds out you had just blown away a grand and a half in tackle you are going to be in trubble !
  19. Yes you can still use something like a Huddy. In my neck of the woods bass have never seen a trout and unless there 's an ice age they will never see a trout in their life time, howver trout imitators work very well.
  20. The difference between you and me my young apprentice is that I 've been fishing for 20 years more than you are old. And I don 't mean Yamamotos, there 's a whole world out there of soft plastics baits where the use of thin straight shank hooks is needed, not everything all is reduced to stickbaits.
  21. It 's not the materials but how those materials are blended, the quality of the fibers and resins to bond them, the direction of the fibers and the weaving, the wall thickness, the blank design, the reel seat, the guides, in other words everything. It 's not just the wood what makes a Stradivarius a Stradivariurs. In a good quality rod the difference in sensitivity between a two piece rod and a one piece is so small that most mortals wouldn 't notice it.
  22. Dip them in very hot water for a few minutes then placed them on a flat surface to cool, the tails will be flat after the treatment.
  23. It could have been worse ...... you could have convinced him to buy a Lambo.
  24. WHAT FOR ?!?!?!
  25. There 's no versus here, they are completely different baits the only thing both have in common is the name Shad Rap. Now if you want a real versus then it 's Shad Rap RS vs Glass Shad Rap, both are indeed the same bait with differences: 1.- Glass Shad Raps are clear, Shad Rap RS have metallic and/or opaque painted finish 2.- Different color schemes 3.- Glass Shad Raps have the reflectant inside.
