  1. Definition of boat: hole in the water where you dump in your money.
  2. Normally 1-2 pounds, that one in the pic is a behemoth and surely a record fish ( who knows, maybe even a WR ) cuz I 've never seen one THAT big.
  3. It depends on the type of crankbait.
  4. Wanna hear something from somebody that usually has more money to burn in tackle than brains ? I own hundreds of bags of soft plastic baits in almost every color and the truth is that I don 't need all the colors, with only a couple: watermelon & green pumpkin you can catch fish most of the times; neither do you need a bunch of different baits, I swear to you that 80% of the time I catch fish with straight tail worms, used to fish with Jelly Worms but I traded them for Trickworms when I ran out of Jelly Worms. Add 5 inch grubs to your list in pretty much the same colors, a couple of bags of curlytail worms like Zoom 's SS-Utale and a pack of flukes and you are ready to go and catch some feesh. The important part on a bait effectiveness is not how many types of baits you have or which colors you own, it 's knowing many ways to rigs soft plastic baits and how you fish them. I 'm going to quote Catt: "Catching fish is between your ears, not between the folds of your wallet" Even though I 'm a tackle junkie I must say that the sentence is quite accurate. If I knew back then over three decades away when I began the habit of purchasing tackle what I know now rigging methods and fishing techniques the ammount of tackle I now own would be a lot smaller, when I say a lot I do mean a lot.
  5. Another species you can catch is the Mayan Cichlid ( which BTW you acn also catch in Florida ) and there are several species of cichlids commonly named "guapotas"but that don 't describe a species in particular : To my knowledge there aren 't any bass in Chiapas T-rig, but you never know because people don 't always call the fish with the same name, most people in Mexico call bass "lobina" but where I live the country folks call them "robalón" or "huro", 3 different names for the same animal and none of them have anything in common. Tenguayacas, Macabil are predatory fish T-rig, you catch them with lures like bass, they prefer faster moving lures like crankbaits, in-line spinners & spinnerbaits over slower moving baits like worms and jigs. Other cichlids can be caught with panfish baits like small grubs and tubes, with flies and with bait like mealworms, ocassionally they strike bigger baits like cranks but success with them is marginal.
  6. Mexico it 's not only big bass fishing, it 's also exotic species fishing. The lake we know in Mexico as "Chicoas én" is located in the State of Chiapas in southeastern Mexico 's jungle forest. The lake was created when the Grijalva river was damed for hydrolectric power generation which resulted in the flooding of one of the world 's deepest canyons, the Sumidero Canyon ( in some parts the canyon is more than 3,000 ft deep ). The river is home to two native species, the Tenguayaca, a cichlid ) and the Macabil ( a characin ): Tenguayaca: Macabil: and it 's got teeth ! Chiapas is one of the most beautiful places to visit in southern Mexico, if you ever go there, aside from going in pursue of tenguayacas and macabiles you got to visit Manuel Alvarez del Toro zoo, it 's a zoo dedicated exclusively for showing the native animals of the region, it 's designed so you literaly walk through the jungle. Another attraction are the Cataratas de Agua Azul ( blue water falls ) and of course you have to visit the ruins of the mayan city of Palenque.
  7. Yup, that 's what I said 'bout smoking, been "quiting" for the last 27 years, been quiting fishing tackle for the last 35 years. Don 't know what 's worse, trying to quit or getting touchy with what I smoke and which tackle I purchase. :-/
  8. The man ain 't kidding, he got a lot of stuff !.
  9. I definately know I will catch bigger fish with a sinking Hudd but how can anyone refuse the spell of watching them basses slamming a topwater bait hopping it will be a big momma ? Too hard to resist the temptation, my number one baits are the Imakatsu Husky Hasuzzy and Team Daiwa Dead Or Alive, don 't let the bill fool you, they aren 't divers, they are surface wakebaits. How do I work them ? First I cast the sucker ( man they do land with abig SPLASH !!!, kinda like if you just tossed a cow into the lake ) and let it stand there motionless until the ripple rings have moved 5 or 6 yards away from it, then I twitch the bait 4 or 5 times with the rod ( many times when I do that ---> WHAM !!! ), no takers ? ok then I pull the bait for a couple of feet by sweeping the rod and reeling in the slack, 3-5 sweeps ( as before, many times that makes the fish strke the bait ), no takers ? then I begin reeling in at slow speed for a few yards and stop, twitch the bait several times and begin reeling in again ( strikes usually come as I begin to reel in ), I repeat this process until I reach the boat or the bait is out of the target zone, then I reel in steadily to retrieve the bait. If I happen to fish a weedy lake ( which are not very common in my neck of the woods cuz tilapia eat the weeds ) I cast the bait, let i stand just like I explained before and reel in steadily over the weedbeds, if I see a hole in the weedbed I stop the retrieve and twitch the bait over the opening to retrieve steadily again.
  10. I had a GLX MBR783, aside from being slightly lighter than the IMX I couldn 't feel that much of a difference between both worth the extra 100+ bones. :-? So for some folks the difference is worth it, for me it 's not; I see no point in spending more money when I can 't feel the difference. :-/
  11. Every when ? 200+ a month.
  12. From my bag of dirty tricks and evil spells:
  13. To me it 's pretty simple the choice, Crucial, why ? being in Mexico there ain 't no Powell rods down here, no retailer has them, but Shimano rods are easy to find even though the price is obscene ( 40 dollars plus from what you are used to see as retail, add to that 15% sales tax and at $ 195.5 ........ I 'd better get a GLoomis for that money , funny, GLoomis rods here cost almost the same as in the US ).

  15. It depends greatly on where I fish, the rigs I use for certain lakes every 3-4 months, in other lakes with other rigs every 3-4 trips, in one lake in particular after each trip.
  16. You guys still don 't get it, do you ? The critter is shielded and impervious to anything you throw at it, it has nothing to to do with "saving" or getting a good deal, it don 't matter if you got a 750 dollar retail rod n 'reel combo for 150 :, he still got you with 150, didn 't he ?, you say I won 't purchase expensive swimbaits, yeh ? but you go and blow 20,30 or 40 pops on soft plastics ( that most probably you don 't need ) because they were "on sale" and there you are thinking you escaped his paws, yeah ...right :. What counts is the action, purchasing tackle. Once you are in his paws you are like clay in them, he will get you one way or another. Sorry for brutally bursting ur bubble guyz, but in a world of insane tackle expenses I feel it 's my civil obligation to you fellow anglers to warn you against the evil mind tricks the critter plays with ya 'll. Cya, I 'm busy placing an order.

    Gun Control

Yup, but there 's an old say: whomever invented the law also invented a way of bending it without actually breaking it. I can legally own 5 guns, but so can do my wife.
  21. Dude, a "weightless" senko weights in the vecinity of 3/8 oz, any baitcaster can cast it without any problem.

    Gun Control

I live in Mexico, can we own guns ? in Mexico 's Constitution it 's contemplated the ownership of guns so yes we can own guns, can we own all types of guns ? some types of guns, yes we can ( like shotguns and hunting rifles up to the semi auto level ); others we can own with a special permit ( like handguns ), some guns, no we can 't ( like assault rifles ) guns of that type are limited to be carried and used by law enforcement and military personnel only, no they can 't own them either, they can only have them in possesion while they are on duty, the most they are allowed to is they can carry their sidearm while off duty because in theory a soldier or a policeman is always in service. Are there requirements for the citizen to own guns in Mexico ? yes there are, the first and most important one you need to register and own a gun is that you should have no criminal record, that is the first requirement, the other ones have more to do with the type of guns you want to own, the laws allow you to own 5 guns. Banning guns only keeps the law abiding citizen from owning them, it doesn 't stop criminals from having them, they get theirs through the black market; here guns are not banned, they are only regulated.
  23. If somebody with the techical knowledge ( somebody like RM ) did me the favor of telling me that Quantum has achieved the durability and dependability Shimano and Daiwa reels have then I would consider purchasing a Quantum reel, that very first Quantum I purchased many moons ago left a pretty bad taste in my mouth.
  24. Ask me, so far I 've hooked a 20 pound domestic goose in a pond ( oh man what a fight ! ) the real trubble began once it was on solid ground, holy cow ! never thought a goose could run that fast . Hooked a seagull, not much of a problem until I tried to grab the sucker to remove the hook, purty fierce critter !. Also hooked a pelican, actually it hooked itself when it dive for a small bass I had hooked, not pretty, big, pesky and with attitude. Still my favorite was the goose.
