  1. They haven 't hired me to design the rods.
  2. Too small, it 's only 8 ft. I know, it looks kool ....... in pictures, in the real world 8 ft is too small for two persons. My jonboat is 12 ft and it 's barely enough for two. Would I buy one of those ? shure I would, just for me alone.
  3. Why is it everybody is so foscused in casting distance ? it ain 't the distance my friend what you gain, the gain is marginal, it 's the easiness what is important, the ammount of energy you need to initiate the rotation of the spool, better bearings reduce the ammount of energy you need, that means in the longer run ( throughout the day ) less fatigue. Young guns may not see any benefit, but old farts with shoulder joints problems like me sure benefit from that. You gain a couple of pounds in the pressure, but the most important gain is the responsiveness of the drag, non studdering or non locking smooth as silk operational drag.
  4. 9 ft is simply put, too small for two persons, at least 12 ft. A 12 ft allows you to install lots of goodies ( like seats ) it has enough room for you to load your stuff, your partner 's stuff, a cooler and still be light enough to be powered by a small outboard and a TM to move around. "LaTinasesina" ( translation "the killer tub" ) is 12 ft, I installed 2 removable seats ( padded of corse ) with their seat caddys, it has a 30 lb thrust TM ( should have purchased a bigger one : ), an Eagle Fishfinder ( Cuda 128 ), rod holders, lure holders and powered by a 6.5 HP. I can load my stuff, my compadre 's stuff, a 20 quart cooler and still have plenty room to swing the rod and not hookin the biggest animal in the lake ( my compadre ). I can store it in a small place and not need trailer ( I just cartop it ). 6.5 HPs don 't sound like much but they do the job for practically any lake, of course it takes you like forever to reach distant hunting grounds but it 's a lot better than having to row ( looking to upgrade for a 9.9 HP ). Everything is removable, time to go ---> remove all the stuff and flip the boat to cartop it.
  5. -I liked the Mag TS crankbait blank, between the Mag TS All Purpose and an IMX I prefer the IMX. -Hated the Batson reel seats on both reason why I sold them, -Never felt comfortable with the humpy handle on both, it may work for many people but don 't work for me, I prefer straight handles. -Worth the $$ ? probably, -Nope I would not buy anymore
  6. You 've been paying $3+ gas, why would the oil companies reduce their prices if you have already been paying more ? Once a time American influence in the oil market was huge, nowdays other countries like China, India and the European Union outweight the American influence, you are not willing to pay somebody else is willing to do it. Oil companies don 't care about you, all they care is about profit, the only flag they adhere to is money regardless of what color it is and where it comes from.
  7. Let go Maya and trust your feelings, the force is shtrooong in you.
  8. I did purchase 2 Kistler Mag TS wight after they were introduced to the market so actually they were never produced before, in what did I base to purchase them, well everybody spoke so highly for Kistler Heliums including a couple of persons who I trust and consider tackle conosseurs ( Dan - AKA "Lightning Rod" and Dennis aka " Cal" from TT who even made a review on the Mag TS ). Turns out to be that I didn 't like them and ended up selling them. In this case The Natural had previous experience with Daiwa rods, Steez rods to be exact, not strange that he 's open minded about trying the new Zillion rods.
  9. Daiwa spinning reels are sweet, the only thing I miss in the Exceler is the Air Bail found in other models. I 've got a Theory and a Revros 2004 ( JDM ) and like them very much, super smooth and not expensive at all.
  10. Just add a couple of drops of mineral oil in the bag and shake it.
  11. If your jitterbug doesn 't gurgle right away it means the line tie is facing down on the water, bend a little up and to the back the metal lip where the line tie is riveted and try again until it gurgles.
  12. If you are going to upgrade drag pads and bearings better have it done by a professional like Reel Mech. I 'm shure he can install tthe handle/knob assembly if you provide him with it.
  13. All BCs have at least one nylon gear.
  14. You can get the handle/star drag/knob assembly from BPS or from Brooklyn Bill, the swept carbon fiber handle from Plat ( in Japan ).
  15. 16. Well, you can 't change the regular knobs for cork or aluminum knobs in the domestic version. In order to do that you 'll have to purchase the spool/drag star/knob assembly, that will chew up about $120 bones out of your wallet: another would be changing the handle for a carbon fiber swept handle: and having to purchase the knobs cuz you can 't remove the knobs from a domestic model. That will cost you another 40 bones to the 100 dollars the handle is worth. I don 't know, well, you didn 't spend on the reel because it was a birthday present, but if I had to purchase the reel and then change the handle I think I 'd rather purchase a Steez reel instead.
  17. It 's good to have TheNatural on the house spending all that money before I do to test them new Zillion rods. But I have to say, last time I paid attention to him it cost me 800 dollars :-?, heck, but I "saved" 600 . You can easily go broke "saving".
  18. I owned a tackle shop, it seemed like a a good idea taking in consideration that I had some money and that there were no "real" tackle shops in the city; yes there 's quite a bunch of fisherman in the city, I know about tackle, I know where to purchase the tackle at a good wholesale price, no minimum order, good extra discounts by volume, purchased a big bunch of baits, rods & reels. The dream lasted for 3 years and had to close because incredibly the sales weren 't good and take into consideration that I didn 't have to pay rent, if I had to pay rent I would have closed it earlier. Still have some of the stuff I purchased around ( about 3,000 dollars worth of merchandise ).
  19. No, I don 't think it would help unless it glows under blacklight.
  20. I 've got two rods for my two Pixies in use ( got another one just sitting there doing nuthin '): GLoomis CR721 and CR722, one is spooled with 8 lb Trilene XT, the other one is spoled with 10 lb Trilene Big Game. Both are used pretty much for the same as yours. BTW, I strongly suggest you change your line if you are going to fish rough environments, Magnathin has near ZERO abrassion resistance.
  21. It 's not a mystery that big boats aren 't selling, big engines ( fuel consumption ), big engines needed to tow them ( more fuel consumption ), loss of income, loss of business and consumers submerged in debt ( car loans, mortages, credit card bills, high interest rates, you name it ). Yes, there are people who are going to say that you can tow a boat with a bicycle, but the truth is that small engines consume just a little bit less than a big engine when towing a boat of that weight and dimension. I drive a ' 93 Ram Charger SUV for fishing trips ( which means many times towing a 18 ft boat and cartopping another ) lots of horses and all of them thirsty, we actually spent 20 dollars more in gas in an 800 km ( 400 km to the lake back and forth ) ride to fish than we spent when doing the same with my friend 's Ranger 4 cyl pick up truck.
  22. You can see it, that 's the advantage, as for the fish, most times and under most circumstances line visibility matters very little and if line visbility is your concern then tie a claer nylon or fluoro leader, visibilty problem solved.
  23. GLoomis SJR722 or 782.
  24. I hear the BaitMonkey callin 'my name.
  25. Liquid ? :-?
