  1. Rods I use for jigging and worming: GLoomis CR722 GLoomis CR723 GLoomis CR724 GLoomis MBR783 GLoomis MBR785 Power rating I select to fish a particular body of water do not depend on lure weight, they depend on the ammount and type of cover. For fishing wood or where there are emergent weeds like reeds ( tules, cattails ) I choose the more powerful ones: CR724, MBR785 For lesser cover or weeds the choose the less powerful ones: CR722, CR723, MBR783.
  2. Reels good for finesse fishing you can put your hands on like right now: Domestic.- Curado 100/101D Chronarch 50/51Mg Sol Import ( JDM ).- Alphas Type F Scorpion 1000/1001 Mg Scorpion 1000/1001 Alphas R Edition Alphas 103/103L Reels that you have to look for and possibly bid on them.- TDZ105H Liberto Pixy
  3. I, when faced with the same dilemma you are facing do what any enthusiast with more money than brain does: I get one of each. There you go, you can have it for $307 straight from Ichiban:
  4. Yes, it is worth the $50 difference. Compres are very nice rods for the money and those crankbait series Compres are really good.
  5. Slowing down is a part of it , for example, I switch from regular cranks to suspending cranks, slow roll spinnerbaits, flip and pitch more oftenly. Another thing is looking for what the fish look for ----> shade or deeper water where the light doesn 't penetrate that much.
  6. Most of my biggest fish have been caught between 1 PM and 5 PM. Most of those have been caught with clear blue skies under the blazing sun and scorching heat we get down here from late February until mid August with average air temps in the 90 's to 100 's.
  7. No perceptible difference that I can notice between two equal rods one being a single piece the other being a 2 piece.
  8. Normally you don 't weight a crankbait, the bait dives when you reel it in.
  9. We didn 't become **** sapiens by eating veggies only :. On the other hand, due to my high cholesterol levels now I 'm on a red meat restricted diet >, not that I can 't eat red meat, I just have to cut back on the ammount and frequency so ----> chicken and fish, screw the veggies ! ( I HATE veggies ).
  10. If you can see the fish or not depends greatly on the water clarity and the depth, there are places with crystal clear water where you can see the fish on the nest, there are other places where the water clarity doesn 't allow you to see the fish but where you can see the nest ( a clear patch on the bottom abouth the size of a tire ), there are other places where the water is very stained or muddy, you can 't see the fish nor the nest, in those places it 's the general location of what a good nesting site would be ( shallow and close to the bank where the sunlight penetrates dep enough to incubate the eggs ). Polarized lenses help, but as always, to spot the fish you have to learn how to spot them, it 's something you learn through observation.
  11. But you have one advantage to weight the balance favorable to you, they may not be readily and actively feeding, but: 1.- They are protecting the eggs and the fry, they will bite anything you drop on the nest, not to eat it but to move it away from the nest, the magic words: THEY BITE, and if they bite they are hookable and catchable. 2.- They don 't move from the nest other than a few feet just to return to it over and over again, the magic words: THEY DON 'T MOVE, that means that you can present your bait over and over again. They don 't move from the location and they bite.
  12. I 've never used a trailer hook in my spinnerbaits.

  14. If you are into lefty reels I would not think it too much and bid on this one You can place a bid and max bid up to $240 ( which is about for what they sale when not bidding ) and you 'll get one of the best Daiwa reels ever made.
  15. I fish with the same stuff I was fishing before the front ....... but in different manner.
  16. Well, look at it from another angle, Gulp can 't stink more than catfish stinkbait.
  17. Dude, after a while a nightcrawler drowns, there will be no more "natural" action cuz the bait is gonna be stone cold dead, a plastic bait never drowns and the natural action is given by you.
  18. Self explanatory, as a beginner you may not know how to present and rig the bait properly so your success with artificial baits is marginal. You can cover a lot more water with artificial baits, more water, more places ----> higher probability of catching something.
  19. The bass season here begins 01/01 and it ends 31/12.
  20. Alternatives ? there are a lot of "alternatives", there are tons of jerkbaits in the market, each one is an alternative. Cheaper that mimics ? No Every jerkbait is different and has a different action, today you slay them with a Husky Jerk and they won 't even sniff at a Pointer, tomorrow you murder them with a Pointer and won 't get even a sniff at a Husky Jerk, next week no matter the brand as long as it is a jerkebait you get great results. The truth is you need a couple of these, a couple of those and so on.
  21. When I hang up a crankbait ( and I do it several times in a trip ) I hang it up for good, no magical split ring is going to help me retrieve the bait, the only way to retrieve the bait is with a plug knocker, it works most of of the times.
  22. A Cardiff may not be the most adequate reel for a ML rod, a Curado 100D or a Calcutta 50 would be a better choice with the same 8 lbs.
  23. In my hands a flipping jig doesn 't have long life, many last only a flip cuz ----> if you ain 't fishing them where they can be hung up and get lost you ain 't fishing them where the fish are, so, I 'm cheap with flipping jigs, as long as it has a good quality hook I 'll purchase the cheapest I can find. BPS jigs are what I purchase.
