  1. Well, besides the regular meats ( pork, chicken, beef, turkey ) we can get bison, ostrich, frog at the super market, the more exotic ( armadillo, squirrel, rattle snake, turtle, venison ), uhhh, you gotta catch them on your own !
  2. It 's been a month sice I haven 't been able to watch any YouTube video, this is the message I get: Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player Well, I 'm shure I got the latest Flash Player version cuz I installed it a couple of weeks ago, so where the heck do I turn the danged JavaScript on ?!? :-/ Thanks for your help. Raul the 'puter impaired.
  3. Well, the gear ratio issue rises again, do not look at the gear ratio, it means nothing, look at the IPT, that one will tell you how fast or slow the reel is. From those three in the 5:1 gear ratio the slowest is the Calais, the Calais 200 APV has a gear ratio of 5:1 but only an IPT of 17", you may find it "too slow". The other two have the same IPT ---> 21" IPT. Now, how much you want to spend ? The Chronarch is true gem any way you look at it, the Curado is a great value any way you look at it, but the Chronarch 's spool has less line capacity. Unless you are a crankbait aficionado I suppose you would think it twice before shelling out 400 bones for a crankbait reel. For a cran aficionado the Calais would be the ultimate crank reel.
  4. Got no idea :-/, I had this old brick size Motorola cell phone and that was the only place where I could carry it along with the bunch of key sets I usually carry ( car keys, house keys, mom 's house keys, warehouse keys, garage keys ) so .... I suppose almost as heavy as the bass I 'm holding. ;D So which big bass hunter doesn 't carry a camera ? I don 't, I 'm not the pic of everything kinda guy, that kind of electronics don 't tickle my fancy, same applies to cel phones n 'stuff like that. How you think I got the camera ? well I found this combo at Costco some years ago: PC ( the one I 'm typing this from ), scanner/copier and digital camera for ( if I remember right ) for around 1,300 dollars. Don 't tell me to blow the same amount of money in tackle cuz man, I do it all the time but for a good camera, pretty cell phone or something like that ---> no way Jos é.
  5. Oh well, you want proof ? one of those extra rare ocassions I caught something interesting and had a camera, no I didn 't take the picture at the lake, I took it at home before moving the fish to a pond. 23" L x 22" girth. 9.86 lbs at the butcher 's scales.
  6. No that I know, I 've been eyeballing with greed and covet the new Zoom colors, there are just plain good lookin '!
  7. No. I got a couple of very old ones and I can remember barely catching a fish or two on them, now I keep them as a reminder of the "good ole days" when I was younger, a lot less experienced and dumb tackle purchaser. If the regular version sucked I suppose a smaller version will be as bad .... in a smaller scale.
  8. I don 't. I 'm not supersttious or anything like that but I 've found a trend, when I take the camera I don 't catch anything worth taking a picture of, when I don 't take the camera is when I catch something worth taking a picture but I got no camera. so, the camera satays at home.
  9. Come to Sugar Lake during March and it 's going to happen.
  10. With the exception of soft plastic jerkbaits I hate using soft plastics and yet, about a third of the fiosh I catch are caught on them, a man gotta do what he gotta do.
  11. I ain 't ashamed, the worst lure I 've ever bought was Heddon 's Cousin and Heddon 's Cousin II, man I 've even thrown them into the thickest, nastiest, lure hangiest cover I 've found to see if I can loose them and nope, they always come back , ahh, but I bet if I throw a Lucky Craft or a Megabass bait into the same mess and it 's going to hang up in an eyeblink. Go figure :.
  12. When do I prefer to use spinning gear vs bc gear ? pretty simple, when I 'm on foot patrol, can 't cast well with bc gear when the brush and trees don 't let you, on the boat, well I pretty much don 't care, I use spinning for almost everything but flipping or swimbaiting.
  13. Like the others, I have some of those but haven 't caught anything on them.
  14. Let me put an example, Lake Zimapán, the lake is 25 sq km in surface, the lake is located between the states of Hidalgo and Quer étaro, pretty much alike all over the lake for one exception, on the Quer étaro side there are hot water springs that pour into the lake, during the winter about 2/3 of the lake is dead water, all the action takes place at the area around the springs because the water is several degrees hotter, on the Hidalgo side the water can be 15-17 °C but on the Quer étaro side the water is above 20°C. Nobody fishes the Hidalgo side during the winter because there are no fish there. During the summer you can fish all over the lake, the fish scatter.
  15. In good condition 80-90 dollars ( with box ), mint condition 100-120 ( with box ), the reel originaliy sold for 150. For being so realiable and because it 's still a sought after reel prices aren 't as cheap as you can expect. In the B series the super free was only available in the 100B size and in the 200BSF; 200B, 200B5, 200B38 are not super free. The reel is a 200 size with a shallower further lightened spool ( wiffle spool ) and had some cosmetic differences, lighter more metalic green paint job and golden metal tension knob cap. Very good reel, I used to own one but is not a light line/lure reel, casts great 1/4 oz up. So being so good why I sold mine ? oh well, the Chronarch BSF that took it 's place is ..... yummi !
  16. I don 't and won 't use WD40 as lubricant, it 's an excellent solvent but it 's properties as lubricant for reels is insignifacnt and too short term lasting.
  17. My man, 40-60 FT ? , are you certain about the units ? :-? ; 40-60 ft is nothing, you should be able to cast a 1/4 oz bait 30-40 yards ( not feet ) away with 12-15 lb test on any decent reel. No wonder why you can 't cast too far something under 1/4 oz. Learn how to control the spool with the least amount of braking and tension, use lighter line, use a lighter rod.
  18. That reel doesn 't have a wide spool, it has the normal width spool for that model but shallower and drilled.
  19. It depends on cover density and type, for example my everyday lake is up to it 's neck with flooded timber, 10 lbs test is as light I dare to go, in other lakes I frequent there 's no timber, it 's been ages since they had some timber in them, you can fish with 6 lbs and no problem. Some of the ponds I fish have thick weeds ( tule ), 12 lbs is the lightest I dare to go.
  20. I 've owned two graphite frame reels ( one spinning and one baitcasting ) and both suffered the same destiny, both fell and both had the reel foot brake making them useless, so no more graphite frame reels for me.
  21. Forget the plug ..... done that one, several times just to prove myself that I can make the same mistake several times. Forget to charge the battery .... boy that 's another one I do oftenly. Forget to tighten the seat clamps ... yup, everything is fine until you put your back against the seat Forget to tie the anchor to the rope .... well that cost me an anchor once, so that one don 't happen anymore So many mistakes so little time to make more, hey, but I 'm trying hard !
  22. Dude, don 't sweat it, you don 't need to apologize for bringing up old subjects, you open a senko thread and pretty fast it will get locked because we 've had senko threads at nauseum and now there are all in a sticky thread, but other than that, there ain 't no sticky threads 'bout how to catch visible bass, so you can ask pretty much anything. I understand that there are newcomers to the site, I understand that there are newcomers to the sport and that you 've got questions, if I can be of help then I 'll try to help. I 've been bass fishing since 1980, I 'd say that from those 30 years I spent at least 15 learning on how to catch them, then I spent another maybe 5 honing what I learned in the previous 15 years and the last maybe 10 years teaching others on how to catch them. After all, you end up with this: you can read all you want, ask all the advice but finally, you have to figure it out on your own by trying what you 've read and what was said to you. We are only here to share our experiences.
  23. You want versatility ? get the M Fast, I know those rods because I have some, don 't use them much except for the 6 '6" H but I 've never even considered selling them because you are not going to beleive me but I like them. The MH has the subtle action of a pool cue, great for jigging/worming/ spinnerbaiting but too stiff for cranking. The M/ medium fast is a little bit more on the medium than on the fast side, good for cranks but not exactly what I would like for jigging/worming/spinnerbait ( a little too forgiving ). The M/ fast has a very powerful blank but not to the point that it 's too powerful for cranks and not too noodly for jig/worm/spinnerbait duty.
  24. Pretty place you got there.
