  1. Uh oh, now there 's a missing part right there, the drag star clicker ( part 2122/2123 ), that teeny tiny wee sized part that 's housed in a teeny tiny wee sized hole on the handle side of the drag star. Well, you can always send it either to DVT or to the Reel Mech. Better luck next time when you try to dissassemble your reel. BTW, the owner 's manual doesn 't have any schematics, there 's another leaflet in the box of your reel, the schematics leaflet, all reels come with it.
  2. One resaon could be because the Core 's spool is a lot shallower than the the Zillion 's spool and you can spool in more heavier line in a Zillion than you can do with a Core, there a are a lot of guys who don 't necessariliy fish with 10-12 lb test all the time, on the contrary, they seldomly fish with line that "light", you can 't modify the spool to make it hold more heavier line. Let 's say for example that you want to fish with 14 lbs test, if you got a Core you 'll have give or take 80 yards of line ( that 's what the reel can hold ) witha Zillion you can have a lot more than 100 yards of the same line. ( depending upon Zillion model --> 120 yds/14 lbs ). I do agree, 400 bucks for a Zillion sounds a little bit too much for my taste, I 'd prefer to shell out the extra 80 dollars and go for a Steez.
  3. Call Daiwa and they 'll most probably send you one for free.
  4. True, some cranks do produce better than others, in theory all cranks, specially plastic cranks should be equal, but that 's not the case, most of them are equal, but there are alawys a few ones that for one reason or the other produce more, little "flaws" during the manufacturing process create a different bait which can create a bad or an out of the ordinary bait, when you getone of those baits that outproduces others it 's time to study it in detail and when you go and purchase cranks try to find one with the same characteristics, not an easy task.
  5. Hmmmm, I 'd rather spend another 80 bucks, get me a Steez and chop 3 ounces from the reel weight.
  6. My compadre is a special person, can 't help it, I love the guy but there are days I 've thought about using him as anchor :, the man is loud for everything and since he is quite disorganized you can imagine his tacklebag, so when he needs something he practically opens his bag and pours the contents on the boat ( t bag pukes tackle ;D ), of course with it 's subtantial amount of noise, wants something from the cooler ? get ready for a good session of noisy cooler rummaging, on his end of the boat there 's always some kind of noise happening most of the time, actually in those rare ocassiones there 's silent I just gotta check if he still alive.
  7. Well, the Spirex has a double knob handle and QuickFire system, the Sedona has neither but because the Spirex has the QuickFire the antireverse is not infinite, there 's a lot of backplay in the handle because it needs the backplay to self center the trigger of the Quickfire, in the Sedona the antireverse is infinite and has no handle backplay. As for other features they are pretty much alike.
  8. There is no such thing as: "the best way to rig as Zoom Trick Worm" or the right answer is in the words of Sam, rig it any way you want.
  9. Some are going to say old Warts were "better", I 've got old Storm Warts, got new Warts when Normark purchased Storm, got new old style Warts when Normark discontinued the new warts and began manufacturing new old style Warts, so which ones are better ? none above the other, I think of them as being 3 different lures sharing the same name, pretty much like Curado reels, completely different animal with the same name. So, there are days when one version murders the fish and there are days they won 't even sniff at it.
  10. Nowhere he said he wanted extra spools to change in case of a backlash.
  11. Man, you tell that to my compadre ! Raul: "compadre, lower anchor pleez" Raul 's compadre grabs the anchor and throws it, anchor lands creating a huge splash kinda like a cow just landed on lake after being thrown from a plane without chute and reaching terminal velocity. What part of "lower" he didn 't understand ? :-? for what I know lower and throw are not the same. :
  12. True, when you worry too much you cast like crap, you don 't let The Force flow through you like it should. Free your mind .... your arse will follow.
  13. True, you can find very cheap, good quality swimbait rods, of course you can want and have a cool and nice swimbait rod, there 's such a thing ( check Mattlures SB rods ---> kooool ! ).
  14. The manufacturer usaully sells extra spools, check your schematics for the part, spools do not appear in your schematics as just " spool ", it appears as spool assembly ( spool + bearing/s + brake inductor or brake block ), contact the manufacturer and ask for it. Spool assemblies for bcs are not cheap like spools for spinning reels.
  15. 16. Color selection is of the outmost importance to me ..... as long as they are the colors I like, just as Marty said, my pet colors. got a sweet spot for black shad, red shad, tequila sunrise. That being said, for worms n 'such well, I do like purty colors so I 've got a rainbow of colors from where to choose however when it comes to jigs any color is fine as long as it 's black, so 90% of my jigs are black. Look ! black shad worm:
  17. rage tail craw Oh baby ! :-*
  18. Everybody 's talkin ' 'bout the new sound, funny but it 's still rock n 'roll to me. Now back into the discussion 'bout them hooks, my favorite: Owner Mutu Light, size 1/0 for 3 inch stickbaits, 2/0 for 4 inchers and 3/0 for 5+ inchers, only problem with that hook is .... don 't use it for cover, it hangs up in an eyeblink !
  19. Sand a little the area of the hook where the lead is going to be, many hooks have thin film of lacquer covering them, that lacquer no always burns away when it comes in contact with the hot lead so the lead is not really attached to the hook, sanding removes the laquer creating a clean rougher are where the lead can attach firmly.
  20. Not knowing their tackle well enough Not paying attention to the conditions Fishing history instead of fishing the current conditions Not checking their line frequently, cut and retie, how often ? as much as you need to, not as little as you think you need to do it Lousy knots, knots have to be perfect all the time Plus some others like location, cover. structure, etc, etc, etc ( that have already been mentioned ).
  21. I don 't set the hook, the fish hooks itself.
  22. Now that 's what a true BaitMonkey satified worshiper would say. ;D
  23. Why "save" old line ? old line is old line, once it 's old it 's only good for filler. Reversing the line ? what for ? what 's left is coiled up so badly and has so much memory that it 's like fishing with a spring, only braided line is good for reversing. Line is the least expensive item in your arsenal so, why try to "save" ? If you want to save just tie fresh line and leave the rest as backing.
  24. P-line CXX, Trilene XT, Youzuri Hybrid all in 6-lbs test
  25. Lefty reels are not cheaper, they cost the same as right reels.
