  1. Red Shad, Tequila Shad, Black Shad, Watermelon, Green Pumpkin, those are my favorite ribbon tail colors, I've caught more fish on T-rigged Tequila Shad than all the others combined, why ? I don't know if it is because I like the color a lot and fish it or because the fish do really react to it, now, some food for thought, I fished a lot Watermelon Trickworms shakey head rigged and killed them, interesting, maybe the rig had someting to do with it ?
  2. Down here at my neck of the woods we ain't got no brown bass, we only got the green kind, the kind of green one that grows BEEG, I used to fish the "hook above sinker" technique before it was called d-shot, we normaly use two different setups to fish different types of waters, in waters with little cover you can use lighter tackle for the technique, in waters with cover, specially the kind of cover you find here south of the border heavier, more macho tackle might be necessary ..... something like 17-25 lb test just to be sure you can pull a fish out from a submerged mesquite tree.
  3. You REALLY WANT TO KNOW ?!? Let me tell you, the difference between you newbies and us "experienced" anglers ( 30+ years experience with baitcasters ) is this, as you "grow" in experience with the use of the reel you begin twitching with the settings, little less braking, little less tension, little less thumb touching the spool, more practice, little less here, little less there ...... "Holy smokes, that went far !" and on and on and on, so one day you arrive at the lake full of confidence in your baitcasting domination techniques feeling like a tom, chest out and feathers all ruffled out trying to impress the chicks, you grab your rod ready to make a cast, as you swing the rod forward the tip barely touches a brush and ........ it's great you had a bunch of rods with you !
  4. Even though there's something "unholy" pairing Shimano to Daiwa this is what I would take a real good look at: https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Daiwa_Ardito-TR_Travel_Casting_Spinning_Rod/descpage-DSCR.html
  5. In my neck of the woods ain't no "dog days of summer", nor air turns into soup ...... down here it rains and rains and rains and .... did I mention it rains a lot ? sometimes you plan to go fishing and there you are in the middle of the lake when it rains. Not exactly bad though, temps drop and with all that rain activity rises, bugs are washed down into the lake and 'gills, minners and other baitfish go crazy. Spinnerbaits and cranks work really good, also jerkbaits.
  6. Whassup RW ?!? long story that I will tell you another day haven't gone fishing in a while, nor purchased any tackle ( no kidding ! not even hook ), hell, my wife told me that I should sell my boat because it's taking "too much room" and I'm not using it .... can you believe it ? what a nerve ! over my dead body that boat is coming out of the house.

my man, there is this thing called the "stupid rig" .... just saying.
  8. Lure made to twist line .....easy peasy, it's called in-line spinner ! literally the only lure where I tie to a snap-swivel combination as for spinning reels twisting the line ..... gotta live with it and every now and then respool while dragging the line behind the boat.
  9. 3,000 people went to sleep not knowing that tomorrow tragically was going to be the last day of their lives. I still remember ! have a good night fellas.
  10. around 250 each is pretty much what I would spend, does that mean I won't spend more ? in a reel yes, I would spend more, not in a rod, to be honest, it comes to a point where I can't tell the difference. I have several GLoomis GL2 and IMX, I certainly can feel the difference, then one day I got a GLX ( back then the most expensive rod GLoomis had ) and I swear I couldn't feel the 100 bux difference between the IMX and the GLX.
  11. I've caught several hundred fish with the same spinnerbait for the past 30 years.
  12. If you are worried about what to imitate try with no matter where in this planet bass can be found will always be present, baby bass.
  13. Largemouths, quite skinny.
  14. It may be for some, not for me No, I don't need to "get used to" because I take great care of my gear It may be part of the life of many but it's not part of my life I take care of my things because literally I had to sweat the money they cost me.
  15. I know she purchased it with love, that's why I keep my Helicopter Lure kit !
  16. Slug go .... that's a name I don't see often in forums, older than dirt fellas like meeself remember the "good old days" , Sluggos, Mann's Jelly Worms, Culprit 6.5 ribbontail worms, tequila shad, red shad, motor oil .... oh boy ! Personally I liked Culprit's Jerkworm over the sluggo and the Shadassassin over the 3 inch sluggo, but that was my preference.
  17. work work work play videogames watch movies and TV series more work
  18. No racks, rods are kept in rod tubes. Reels in their original box.
  19. I've purchased my last reel several times, my latest purchase was a Daiwa SS SV, now I'm eyebaling a Shimano Aldebaran 50 MGL ..... when will the madness stop ?
  20. Storm Thin N, stock hooks on those were junk.
  21. I got plenty ramen noodles cups and packs, spam, a bunch of toilet paper and my BB gun ....... I'M READY, LET THE ZOMBIES COME !
  22. I took a "leap year" after I graduated from college and fished almost every day, how happy was I ? ..... ever seen the movie "Groundhog day" ? I wish it were for real.
  23. Honestly ? I own hundreds of crankbaits, pounds and more pounds of soft plastics and ..... You don't need all that crap, 95% of my cranks have never touched the water, 95% of my spinnerbaits are in the same spot, soft plastics ? 98% of the maybe 200 lbs of them are just there. There you go From a tackleholic which btw coined the term BaitMonkey ( yeah, no s*t, it was me the one that christened the obssession ).
  24. Don't you ever dare to badmouth Big Game or you will be in trubble ....
