  1. With a heavy rod and a split shot as weight no wonder why you can't cast far, the rod doesn't "load".
  2. http://japantackle.com/tuning-parts/spools-casting-reels/daiwa/daiwa-slp-steez-sv-105-shallow-spool.html that one fits my TDZs.
  3. You can upgrade to a SV spool if you have the right Daiwa reel, for example, I purchased a shallow SV spool for any of my TDZs and .... man it did the job, with the SV spool they are a ton better than a Pixy ( coming from a guy that owns 3 Pixies ).
  4. NYPD and NYFD ----> brave beyond bravery !
  5. That's exactly what I was going to recommend.
  6. Truth is Islandbass ain't kidding when he said to get them all, it's not BaitMonkey feeding, getting several of each in different colors is BaitMonkey feeding.
  7. yes and no, I used to fish my uncle's ponds, which btw are a lot smaller than your lake, 3-4 times a week, the fish "learned" to avoid certain lures quite fast, what murdered them one week didn't work the next weeks, it was a matter of just giving that lure a rest for a couple of months to become effective again. However, certain lures worked consistently, week after week, soft plastic worms and grubs worked with just a slight change of presentation.
  8. GLoomis CR721 IMX + Chronarch 50 + YoZuri Hybrid 6 lb test.
  9. Hula popper.
  10. I own more Shimanos than Daiwas, Shimanos are great, Daiwas are awesome. Shimanos are like a Jeep, Daiwas are like a Ferrari.
  11. Osama's pals ---> bite me !
  12. Deep South.
  13. at the time when Shimano's most kickazz low pro was the Calais 100A I had one and .... traded it for Daiwas most kickazz low pro, the TDZ I have 4 TDZs now my most kickazz Shimano is the Chronarch B I wouldn't trade my Shimanos but no longer Shimano has something I want Daiwa on the other hand has offered me really interesting things, my latest Daiwa purchase was the SS SV.
  14. Ask me, I have no problem sharing with what, I may even tell you where and how but you ain't me and it's my style what catches them.
  15. You don't get much distance ..... define how much is much ...
  16. My hookset is the same at any depth and has been the same for the past 4+ decades.
  17. Other than those pay to fish lakes high in the Sierra where the water is cold enough to grow trout bass in my neck of the woods have never seen a trout and I catch a bunch of fish with "trout" lures.
  18. I've caught 2 lb LMBs with a 8-9 " trout half In the stomach and half in the mouth. pretty much a third of those 2 lbs was the trout.
  19. If somebody came and told me: " from all the rods you own you can only pick one for the rest of your life " I would pick my trusty IMX MBR784 ( the 844 is pretty much the same thing ).
  20. If you make that spinning rod M/F you can fish crankbaits with it.
  21. What kind of hooks are you purchasing ? Super line hooks have thicker wire.
  22. Does "nothing", catches fish like nothing you've seen or tried almost anywhere and in almost any condition. My only beef is that it's a friggin dink magnet.
