  1. I just got one for my Penn Fierce 3 4000 size spinning reel. It's a vast improvement over the stock handle. Silky smooth and good looking to boot!
  2. Welp took a final practice cast before heading out tomorrow and the backlash dug so deep o had to cut off about 20 bucks worth of braid. So ticked. Guess I will be stopping for more braid before hitting the water tomorrow now. Ugh!
  3. So I have practiced in the backyard with this combo, and did ok for a beginner. I find that sidearm casting is easiest, and overhead is pretty difficult for me at this time. I have to turn the brakes on too high to get any distance overhand with this reel. However, I'm sure it's more me being new than the reels fault. I figure if I can manage on this cheapo combo when I upgrade to a nicer reel I'll be that much better. I did catch a silver max on a lightning pole in the pond a few years back that didn't look like it had been down for too long, but since I no very little about baitcasters I didn't want that to be my learning piece. Maybe I'll clean it up a bit and see what happens.
  4. Man, just picked this up for my entry into baitcasting and may regret it reading here.
  5. Shot glasses, 5950 hats, football cards, basketball cards, baseball cards, those stupid little Homies figures that came in those 50 cent egg balls....
  6. Dayum! Now thats a great deal right thur partner!
  7. Got my second pack in the mail today, same as last time, 5 pack of 4/0 magworn hooks. Oh and they included a sticker this time. ETA: I signed up and did their quiz June 21st.... So a lil over a month for both packages
  8. JSLACKER is mine, usually on netflix but I do have all of the CoD games.
  9. Can you tie the to the top of your rig?
  10. I use a Rebel Pop-R and a Rebel Frog-R. Haven't caught anything on the Pop-R yet, but its only been on the water one time.
  11. I am partial to 1oz sinkers myself but the more I learn about fishing and baitcasting I think I should dial back a notch, 1 oz used mostly for distance but I guess the more technique I pick up I can drop the weight a bit.
  12. Strange to see everyone here pretty much set up for LH retrieve on sponning equipment. I have just now started baitcasting and have always fished RH on my spinning gear. Just starting out I have a LH and RH baitcaster, don't know which one feels more natural yet, probably the RH because I'm righthanded and thats how I've done all of my fishing in the past. Something just dosent feel right soing it RH on a baitcaster though IDk... I'm still figuring it all out lol
  13. Nice photos man. I agree enter them into something
  14. Back from vacation so I guess its time to update my log. Didn't catch anything but tiny croaker in the bay on vacation in Fenwick Island DE. Went this past Tuesday to a new to me spot with my buddy Eric and caught a catfish. This is about a mile from where the Delaware river goes out into the Delaware bay... With a view like this I was hoping to catch some huge mutant of a fish here lol Heres a picture of the cat...
  15. I was bank fishing a while back and pulled up an abu silver max on a berkley lightning rod, the reel has been repaired with minimal effort and im working on the rod.
  16. Got mine in today, 5 pack of 4/0 megaworm hooks. MSRP 9.99 and 1.95 for shipping, can't beat that for free!
  17. Couldn't you use a traditional style scale with the hook and just hook it behind the gills? that's how I weigh my carp...
  18. Where can I go to see that video?!?
  19. Those are some monster fish! I wish I had a water large enough around me to hold beauties like that!
  20. What bait were you using? There a snake heads rumored in our local pond but I can't seem to get one.
  21. Went fishing yesterday with a buddy of mine who hadn't pointed a stick since he was a young boy. Didn't catch any bass today, but i did get my first cat of the year. Caught him on a chunk of drop shotted nightcrawler. Caught a few smaller bluegill, my buddies biggest catch was this shmedium bluegill, well that and a little baby snapper turtle he pulled in and the frogs that were jumping all around on shore. Even though the fishing was sub-par it was nice to see my friend getting back in touch with nature lol
  22. WOW, nice bluegill, never saw one that big before, in fact I didn't know they got that big!
  23. Thanks man. Yeah I was in Walmart last night and they had one KVD sexy frog left for around 8 dollars, I was gonna buy it but then thought why? The rebel frog I have works just fine. Put the sexy back on the shelf and bought a couple bags of plastics instead...
  24. Went today from about 0600-1530. Only caught one decent size bass, all the rest were small panfish.... The bass I caught must have been caught before because his mouth was all ripped off on one side. Caught him on a very small chartruese tube looking thingy on a 1oz drop shot. That's the bait on my shoulder...
  25. Try fishing for something else, you'll catch tons of bluegill lol. Worms work the best for me for bluegill...
