  1. Which leads me to my next thought..... We have always had the option to reel left or right with spinning reels, so why did right handers choose to cast right and reel left? Why did we not cast with our right hand and switch hands and reel with our right? In the early days there were no left hand baitcast reels, just right hand retrieve, so there was no other choice. Even today you can't always find a left hand reel in the gear ratio you want or need. It's something we all got used to, and never gave it a second thought. I'm glad I made the switch though, and wish I had done years ago..
  2. This is why I never buy a rod online. The bend may get worse with time, or even fail. It may also last forever, but I would send it back immediately for a refund, and buy locally where you can handle the rod and make sure it meets your requirements. You will always have doubt in your mind, and you will never get past it. Send it back.
  3. Yep.. LOL. We gotta have some fun though. I fish both Abu and Shimano, but feel Shimano is a better reel. Do I feel at a disadvatage using Abu, no. Now having said that, go back to the beginning of the thread to see how it all got started... It wasn't the Shimano Fanboys.
  4. We get a quality reel made to last a lifetime, and Shimano doesn't have to offer anything like a hoodie to sell their reel like Abu does..... Birdsnests are operator error, nothing to do with a reel. Lets dance LOL....
  5. My dad was an avid bowhunter, and I started shooting at age 5 with a longbow. I switched to compounds in the early 90's and have owned every bow out there, and Hoyt has alway been my favorite.
  6. I could not have said it better myself......
  7. X2 "They take a licking and keep on ticking" Here's to all us Shimano Fanboys Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  8. Can anyone tell me the best source for Boca Bearings?
  9. I'm right handed and have always reeled a spinning reel with my left hand, and a baitcast reel with my right hand. Well, after more than 40 years I switched the beginning of this season. I bought a left hand baitcaster and I will never go back to a righty again. I was very comfortable after the first outing, and after the second outing it felt great. Now it feels like I've been doing it this way all my life. Infact, I took a righty out the other day to see how it felt and I hated it. Keep at it and don't give up, you will be glad you switched. Good luck!
  10. Take a look at the Falcon Bucoo (Micro)..... It's a little lighter than the Abu and the grip is more comfy.
  11. Any rod in the 6'6" to 7' range M or MH F or XF will work fine for a single fluke. I personally use a 6'8" MXF cause it works great. I also use a 7' M Moderate that works just as well. Rod manufactures are making rods in a thousand different lengths, powers and actions, and giving them technique specific names just so you will part with your money. It's just a marketing trick to make you feel as though you are getting a rod that does something really special, and will help you catch more fish, and that's just a bunch of nonsense. I'm sorry but, fishing is supposed to be fun and relaxing. Far too many people are concerned that they need some ultra special rod/reel combo to catch fish, and you can thank the internet and manufactures for that. Hey, I love new equipment, and buy new stuff all the time but thankfully I can afford it. Do I think new rods and reels will help me catch more fish, No. This week end I ended up with 3 new Falcon Bucoo rods, and one new Shimano reel, did I need them, No. If your buying equipment cause you enjoy new things and can afford it, then great! If you are buying new equipment thinking this new setup will help to catch more fish, it will not. Now I'm not saying to go throw flukes on a 7'6"H rod as that would be a bit much...... Rant over.
  12. If your not going to fish some really heavy cover, get the M. If you are going to be in some REALLY heavy pads, and veg then the MH. A friend of mine has the MH, and I think it's a bit too stiff for hollow frogs.
  13. DO IT or there will be consequences
  14. I tend to agree with Marty...... Having said that. Cloudy days = Darker Colors Sunny Days + Light or Natural Colors Some days it's just a crap shoot!
  15. You just can't let it go, can you? LOL..... As for the OP... Get the Chronarch !
  16. LOL.... I am surrounded by cranberry bogs, and bog ponds so the fishing is fantastic here. With all the saltwater around here, I never fish it.
  17. I do not use trailer hooks on my SB's but that's likely the cause.
  18. Funny you should ask... I just picked up 2 Falcon BuCoo (Micro) spinning rods and they are absolutely fantastic for this purpose. I bought the 6'6"M and the 7'M. The 7" handles soft plastics very well, and Rat-L-Traps up to 1/2 oz with no issues. Extremely light and sensitive.
  19. Well, seeing how I have 6-7 hot spots all less that 5 minutes away, and one of the best being a 2 minute walk..... not very far.
  20. Soft plastics come in specially designed bags to keep the safe and fresh from other harmful plastics with Elaztech... When soft plastics come in contact with soft plastics which contain Elaztech, they melt. The original bags that your worms come in are designed to stop these types of chemical reactions, and keep you bait safe.
  21. I use braid with a 4-5' mono leader. I join the braid and mono using the Alberto knot, Bone is my color of choice.
  22. Leave them in their original bag, and toss all the bags in a Ziploc Freezer bag.
  23. Nice! Gotta love the Zara Spook... The Wacky Senko is hot right now as well.
