  1. I like at least a 7' rod for froggin in MH or H with a fast to extra fast action. Almost any rod with these specs will be fine. St. Croix rods are stiffer than most. 50-65# braid is the standard.
  2. Do yourself a favor and pick up a Shimano Sellus 7'2" MH XF (Worm & Jig) and call it a day. This is my do-it-all rod, and it does everything well. I fish everything from weightless worms to hollow body frogs in heavy cover. Cost $59.00 and you won't find a better rod under $100.00 you will not be disappointed.
  3. What kind of avice is this LOL?
  4. I'll tell you a story, or better yet let you read it. Al Holt was my good friend of mines father, and died from getting hooked while fishing. I knew this man since I was a little kid, and he was a great man. http://www.upi.com/Top_News/2002/08/09/Rare-flesh-eating-bacteria-kills-fisherman/UPI-88961028912602/
  5. I've been using BPS Tournament Series Stick-O-Worm for some time now, and really like them but the quality seems to have taken a turn. I just purchased 10 bags of the 5 5/8" and found 3 of the 10 bags were not to my liking. I found them to be harder and stiffer, just not as flexible as the others or the ones I've bought in the past. I think I will return but feel they will think I'm just making a big deal out of nothing, but whatever. Would you return them or would you just suck it up and use them? I know I will be checking each bag from now on. It's just that I spend a lot of money at BPS and don't feel bad to bring them back an complain. Rant over.
  6. Booyah Pad Crasher.....
  7. I use a 7' 2" MH Extra Fast Shimano Sellus and it works great for froggin. For $59.00 it can't be beat.
  8. Put a BPS Pro Qualifier 7.1.1 on that rod, and you will have a nice worm/jig rod. The length and weight are perfect for your intended use IMO.
  9. ^^^^ This..... If you deal with a local shop who has fanatical customer service like I do they will hook you up, but most give you the cold shoulder.
  10. No. I doubt I'll ever be brand faithful. I have a mix of Abu Garcia, BPS, St. Croix, Shimano, Falcon, Quantum, Field & Stream and Diawa Rods. Reels are Abu Garcia, Shimano, BPS and Pflueger..
  11. +1 Go for it...... You can't beat 40% off a president.
  12. Here is a video.... I prefer the Alberto Knot myself.
  13. A bass drowns out of water just as you would drown under water.....
  14. Are you looking for spinning or casting rods?
  15. Does the guy fishing from an all out bass boat with GPS, fish finders, trolling motor have the right to brag when they catch bigger fish than the guy in the canoe with just a paddle?
  16. I started him fishing early, and he's been at it ever since. Here he is in his younger years, and now look at him above.. how the years fly by. Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  17. Thanks....... I feel so much better without all the extra weight. It took almost two years to get it off but it was really worth it. What area are you in? Here is my son with a couple of his. Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  18. Here is one I caught a few years back out in my canoe when I was about 125 lbs heavier..... I weighed in at 325 lbs just to get an idea as too how big this bass was. It weighed in at 8.75lbs my PB....... I sure wish we had a better camera at the time but we were using a 35mm disposable. Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  19. My son and I are fishing every day now and the bites been fairly consistant. I hear a lot of people in my neck of the woods complaining that it's slow, just curious how it's going in other places. we fish a really nice little pond that's just full of Bass so this may be why we are doing so well... We live just off Cape Cod, MA and the weather has been great. I'm really enjoying my new PQ reel/Berkely shock Rod, and my Pflueger President/Abu Garcia Vendetta that my son gave me for Fathers Day. Here are a couple of fish I cought so far this weekend. Lets see what you have been reeling in !!! Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  20. I like High Speed reels for everything. I have no problem slowing it down, and I always have the speed if needed.
  21. I recently purchased a PQ and love it...... As a matter of fact, I'm running over to BPS in a bit to buy another one. It is smooth as butter, and casts like a dream. I'm throwing Senko's, Frogs, and Weightless Worms with it. I doubt you will find better at that price point! I'm almost certain it's a Lew's SS in disguise.
  22. Does anyone know for sure who makes the Pro Qualifier Baitcast reel for BPS? I just bought one last night, and love it. It sure does look a lot like the Lew's Speed Spool.
  23. You need to spend more to get the indexed drag system.
  24. This is interesting........ I have been wanting to try a left hand baitcast reel for some time now, and my 15-18 year old Quantum EX200 needed to be replaced. My son and I went to Walmart today, and I picked up a left hand Black Max for $49.00 to try before dumping too much on a lefty and not liking it. Well this thing casts like a dream, long and smooth and the retrieve is very smooth. I spooled it up wit 30# Power Pro and think it is a fantastic reel for the money. I'm using it to throw 5" Senko's........... I would guess there is a problem with your reel or it is not set up correctly.
