  1. I have a Citica E and the G is not much different if at all, so I doubt the E7 is any different. I just got back from looking at the Carado and Citica G and they will be fine for my inteneded use. They both felt as smooth as my E seires.
  2. X2.... I will now be switching over to all Shimano baitcast reels. I took a good look at the Citica and Curado G Seires and they are fine reels. They do not look or feel cheap, and they are smooth.
  3. If they are anything like the reels, and I think they are, don't waste your money. A buddy of mine had one, and it snapped on hookset. I think they are MH.
  4. Power Pro or Suffix 832 are among the best. I like 30-50# for most applications.
  5. Excellent video! Congratulations, on your two nice fish. Thanks for sharing it with us, I truly enjoyed watching..... It's always great to watch a young person having so much fun fishing.
  6. I just tried it, and it's not too bad. I like a uni knot much better. Instead of the standard uni, go through the eye of the hook twice then tie the uni knot. I think this as strong of a knot as you can tie using braid direct.
  7. My son has been using a Ugly Stick 6'6" spinning rod paired up with a Shimano Solstace 4000 for frogs and worms in the heavy slop, and he's doing fine with it. We went out yesterday and he pulled out 8 and lost one. We fish some really heavy dense weeds and pads, and he's having no issues at all. Just yesterday I picked up a Daiwa Jupiter 7'6"H Telescopic casting rod and it's the bomb, and I would highly recommend it. I pulled several out of some super thick stuff, and it performed better than any rod I've ever fished. Here is one I pulled out with it yesterday, this was the first fish I caught on it an hour after I bought it. It throws a hollow frog a mile and also a weightless Senko, and it has so much backbone. This is my new favorite rod and I've not hade it for 24hrs. Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  8. X2..... Personally, I've switched over to braid on all my setups, and I'm happy so far. When throwing worms I use a fluro or mono leader tied to the braid with an Alberto knot. Throwing frogs or in very heavy cover, I tie direct. I throw weightless Senko's rigged Texas style, frogs, jigs and pretty much anything and it works very well. I feel you have a great all-around rod that will cover all of what you are looking to accomplish and more. Let use know how you like it.
  9. Yes, caught the bluegill on the Fat Ika, and a 4/0 WG hook...... I felt the bit set the hook and told my son as I was pulling it in "this is a little guy" and found this thing swinging from the hook. This is a culvert to a 20 acre pond, and the fishing is just fantastic, some really nice fish here.. The massachusetts state record is 15.8 lbs and said to have been caught in Sampson Pond, but most of the locals believe it came from this spot, and not Sampson Pond........
  10. I pulled a nice one out of some heavy slop with it today, and it performed perfectly. It throws a hollow frog and a Senko a long way. I am very happy to say the least. If they had a few more I would go back and buy them all, but it was the only one left.
  11. Glue a tip on it and give it to a girl or boy who can't afford a rod.......
  12. Thats good to know...... I just got back from the pond with my son, and I pulled a nice 4.85 pounder out of the slop with it, and it was very impressive. I might put my Citica on it, but I gave it a test run with the Black Max today. I think it's a very impressive rod for the money. Here is the fish I pulled out earlier with it. 13. I apologize for taking it out on you, it was not my intent. Fish and have fun!
  14. I nothing to prove to you or anyone else, nor do I have anything to gain. The picture was taken 12-14 feet away from the front of my canoe. I'm 6'1" and in that photo I weighted 325lbs. a whole lot bigger than you are. I struggle to get my hand in an XL glove just for comparison. Needless to say, It matters not what you or anyone else thinks, as my friend and I know that's all that matters to me.
  15. I have been looking for a heavy rod for throwing frogs in the slop, and came across a rod today at Walmart. It's a Daiwa Jupiter 7'6" H with a telescopic handle. It was in the clearance bin for $19.99 so I grabbed it as they were selling for $70 or $80 dollars earlier this year. It throws a frog a mile as well as a Senko, and it's very light for it's length, and has great sensitivity along with backbone to spare. Question is, how do these telescopic rods hold up? Will the handle split where the top of the rod enters the handle? I imagine they are pretty durable considering their intended use, but I've never owned on before. I figured for $20.00 I couldn't go wrong.
  16. Your very funny..... Like I have said in other posts, you can not guess how much a fish weights by a photo. Oh, let me change to accommodate you, it weights 3.25lbs.
  17. I just picked up a Diawa Jupiter today at Walmart. It is the 7'6" H with telescopic handle, and the thing is darn light and sensitive. Oh, it was in the clearance bin for $19.99...... If it breaks who cares?
  18. I use a leader on all my braid except when throwing frogs. I feel using a leader with baits such as worms give the baot a more realistic presentation. One of the biggest reasons I use a leader is to be able break free if hooking a stump or any other object. I have tied direct to hooks before, and have caught fish, so it really works with or without a leader....... Go fish and have fun..
  19. The Alberto knot is the best knot for connecting braid to fc, or mono. I have yet to break a leader at the knot using this method.
  20. I use mine for just about everything. It makes a good frog rod too, plenty of backbone. Having said that, I would still go with the 7'MH Lighting Shock. Don't get me wrong, the Sellus is a great rod but the Shock rod does everything really well and it's tough as nails. I have about 15 rods and reels and the Shock rod with my Citica is the one I grab 9 out of 10 times.
  21. Yep....
  22. Incorrect.... I use the Alberto knot to join braid, and fc together and it as small a knot as you can tie. This knot still struggles to go through micro guides, and you get a tic-tic-tic as the knot flows through the guides causing a good loss of distance, and compromising the integrity of the knot.
  23. You won't be mastering it tonight..... It take a good bit of practice to become proficiant with baitcast gear. Give yourself some time and stop switching line, as the line is not the issue.
  24. Just read your other post..... The Lightning Shock is a fantastic rod for $39.00 at Walmart. I have all three.... Sellus, Tech-Spec and Lightning Shock. If I had to keep just one it would be the Lightning Shock 7'MH great rod.
