  1. I use the Alberto to tie the braid to the backing, and then to tie the fluoro/mono to the braid. It is very easy to tie after a couple times, and I have NEVER had that knot fail.
  2. Put some mono backing on the spool before adding the braid. Double Uni or Palomar to tie to the hook. Use a Fluoro or mono leader around rocks and use the Alberto to join the braid, and mon/fluoro together.
  3. That's cause it's TSI 321.. Here you go http://www.detectorbuy.com/shop/cart.php?target=category&category_id=256
  4. Then what do you feel makes a reel "THE BEST"? You stated (and I agree 100%) Floogs are the (smoothest, never need service of any kind, takes a lickin and keeps on tickin). What would it take to be the best, or can there be no best?
  5. Another vote for the Plueger President.
  6. What brand might this be? LOL
  7. Abu Garcia VTS70-5 paired with a Plueger President and ou have a winner for under 150
  8. You can use 50# if that's what you have, but I prefer no more than 30# on spinning gear and like 20# best. I do use mono backing to save on the braid, and prevent slipping.
  9. I think there are much better choices in that price range, and less.
  10. I use Power Pro 30# on my baitcast gear, and Power Pro 20# on spinning gear. I fish some really heavy vegetation, and I have never had this line fail.
  11. The tolerance is extremely tight between the spool shaft and pinion gear and such, and the slightest bit of oil slows the spool down.
  12. I am not a fan of Mag brakes only as the Speed Spool has. You should have bought the model with centrifugal brakes as they are so much better. You have a Shimano now, if I were you I'd return the SS and get a Citica.
  13. Trilene XL is my favorite when I fish Mono. I have never cared for Stren, and Ande is a saltwater line, not that it matters.
  14. I use a mono leader. My prefered knot to join the braid and leader is the Alberto knot.
  15. I prefer a 7'-7'6" MH XF for plastics.
  16. Shimano's customer service is tops! I called the recently to order a spare set of brake weights, and I had them in one weeks time no charge at all.
  17. X2... I like the CRC brand, it's been my favorite for 30 years.
  18. I sure do apreciate that. Just let me know he address, and time to be there. Also let me know anything I should bring as far as food, and I can help out with fuel as well if you like.
  19. Fantastic! I'll need to know where to meet, and when...
  20. I would be delighted to fill either seat if one of you would have me. I can also bring food for the grill. Just shoot me a PM or post here. Thanks!
  21. This very interesting to see all the different choices. I'm still trying to decide what I would choose LOL.....
