A buddy and I will be fishing Smith Lake this weekend but you can count on 1 hand the combined number of times we've fished there. I need some advice tips on patterns, spots, and techniques to try this time of year.
Thanks
Zoom Watermelon Red Trick Worn or Chartreuse lizards always seem to produce. I'd say no on the peg, especially on a bare bank, take some time experimenting with hops and drags where you can see how your bait moves then picture that when its out of sight.
T-rig, and choose your weight based on the clarity/cover/wind.
Had a good day with a chartruse regular size lizard on sunday t-rigged 1/4 tungsten, hopping it through some think weedy grass. Threw a curl tale accross the flat not bites, put on the lizard same area 4 in an hour.
X2 fish all the way back to the bank and stop it right before you're lure comes back up out of the water. A lot of times they'll follow it all the way to the bank and they'll hit it right there, guess they think its going to get away and don't want to miss out on the opportunity.
The red locking pen broke and fell out of my motor guide trolling motor. I can't seem to find a replacement part or any info on how to repair it. Anyone know where i could look?
I y'all don't mind i'll add on. You have 6 rods, 4 baitcasters and 2 spinning outfits. Your headed to a 20 acre pond in central Alabama with medium density grass, think Coosa river type fishery. What to you pre-rig?
Hi all. So i just realized there was an introduction forum. I'm from the Birmingham area and fish mostly from the bank in a local small public pond and from a 14ft alumnacraft in private pond in my father-in-laws back-yard. When i get the chance i fish with a buddy @ Gville or take the little john up to Lay Lake, its hard to do much with only a trolling motor but I manage to hook a few. I've fished as a co-angler once and got blanked 2 years ago... that really got me going. Been fishing as long as i remember but only with any real serious approach since then. My current infatuation is weightless plastics.
Outside of fishing i'm a die hard Auburn (born and raised on the plains) Fan, War Eagle! I don't own a real bass boat , just the john and trolling motor, but i feel one coming in the not to distant future. I try to play golf anytime fishing isn't a viable option.
I'm with speed craw... fish any chance you can when it's raining. I've had good luck with spooks when its a drizzle, and killed them on a pearl white fluke just barely below the surface. My pond was still clear enough they could see it, they were practically catching it as it hit the water when the rain was really coming down hard.
Don't know about Berkley, but I use 10lb PP braid on my light spinning outfits and i've tried the 832 suffix, PP super slick, stick with the original power pro unless you want to constantly deal with wind knots. Oh, and Suffix is my choice for mono, no bias there.
