  1. I am just starting to fish jigs and throw 1/4-3/8 with trailers( Kut Tail, Skinny Dipper, baby Rage Craw) and bought both an IMX and NRX 893 for that application plus weightless worms Strangely the IMX feels a tad heavier than the 893 NRX. So I feel it will be my "cheap 894" for the pitching rod and the NRX 893 may be my "casting" rod for worms. Perhaps one day I'll get the NRX 803 just for a shorter version.
  2. I just use my waterproof motorcycle gear. My Klim Latitude jacket and Rukka pants do a fantastic job. Or I have some Goretex Liners for other jackets and pants that can be worn stand alone if it's not really cold. Sweet to have gear that can cross sports!! Don't have to buy new stuff. I feel my high quality motorcycle gear is far better than stuff designed for fishing. I just take the armor out.
  3. I wouldn't look up ANYTHING. In Wiki!!!! It's like asking someone on the street about anything. Of course, I happen to like factual information from an experienced reliable source. Those entries could have been written by a 10th grader that's failing in school. Same goes for U TUBE!!!
  4. Dobyns 704 CB Glass keeps them buttoned. Also nice to have a mono line or leader for a tad stretch.
  5. Simple! Just get the 893 and fish it a couple of times to see if you like it. If not it will sell in a jiffy on the forum. I have the IMX 893 AND the NRX 893. I find the IMX is a little more stout.
  6. Hot lure here, the regular Ribbit in Watermelon Red Pearl with an Owner Twistlock no keel weight in 4/0. I never buzz them. Just snake them thru lily pads and throw up on bank and work slowly about an inch under the surface. Never used them in open water. The Horny Toad works well with Beast hook.
  7. In my opinion using the A rig is really the issue. I think our next tactic will be mimicking the Japanese Long Liners who let out hundreds of hooks at a time. What's happened to the "sport" in Sport fishing? Try a cast net or seine and be done with it. I find It hair splitting to see if you can "accept" a fish when fishing with an A rig. Don't mind me and my opinion. I'm just an ole timer who still uses ONE bait. Now everyone get on with their "justification".
  8. I agree with Raul! The Pixy/721 is THE rod for the Pixy. I've also used the 781 IMX and the Jackson Trickster 6'4" which was great. And, it if you want to go "whole hog" get a Megabass Hedgehog rod. Absolutely fabulous. {also great with a Zonda 10 or an Aldebaran)
  9. 3 Vintage Sustain 2500s when I rarely fish spinning. ( new Sustains don't interest me at all) However I like my Twinpower just as much
  10. Grip too short for my hands. Sold it. Much prefer the Avid.
  11. Do any of you guys still use a RAGE SHAD?? Looks nice but I haven't caught a fish on it. Caught many on Stanley Ribbit however. Sometimes I think it's the waters you fish as to what works. I think that plastic bait that glided was the HELICOPTER BAIT on TV.
  12. Same here with the 78 Pointer in Sexy Shad!
  13. Years ago on Toledo Bend, in the Spring, the Black back, gold sides, orange belly, Rattlin Rogue was THE bait for catching bass over weed beds.
  14. Telescopic retriever for sure! Collapses and fits in rod holder in my 16 ft tracker. Extends in a moment and always does the job. Never had line break.
  15. I really like the 6# and 10# yozuri. Pretty much trouble free.
  16. Good ole H&H! That color is a Choupique magnet!!
  17. Megabass Griffon! No one else throws one.
  18. I could care less what the pros use . Most of time it's a money thing. "follow the money " is a motto these days.
  19. I've come to the conclusion that I CAN tie one in my living room but I WONT tie one while fishing.
  20. I seem to be enjoying the thrill of buying nicer equipment (on a deal of course) perhaps even more than fishing with it. I actually now have rods and reels I HAVENT FISHED WITH YET! Maybe I'm just getting old?
  21. That's a CHOUPIQUE down here in South Louisiana. (pronounced "Shoe Pick" Some people will scrape the meat off with a spoon and make CHOUPIQUE Balls or Boulet with them in a brown gravy and served over rice. If cooked right they can be pretty tasty. One rule on CHOUPIQUE. No live ones in the boat. They will bust up tackle quickly when thrashing around. Also, don't "Lip" em like you would a bass.
  22. Have a couple of Lews Speed Spools and pistol grip Lightning rods plus some Fenwick Eagles I think my Original Speed Spools (BB1 and variants ) do shallow to medium Squarebills better than ANYTHING I've got. They are fantastupic casters. Also have a couple of Daiwa Procaster Sm-1 and Sm -2. Use them for frogs on a Kunnan stick. And tucked away somewhere is an Abu Ambassadeur 1500 C. I loved that little reel!!
  23. Skinny Dipper in Sexy Shad works here!
  24. What if the Avid (which I have and love!) and IMX (also which I have and love a bit more) were just about the same price? I've got a Loomis IMX 893 coming in from Monster tackle that Is $10 more than the Avid. What would you pick NOW, prices about EQUAL? I ordered the IMX. I've had the St Croix LTB and although it was nice, I wasn't completely happy with the split grip. Just like I wasn't happy with how the split grip fit my hand on the very nice *** I had. If they made a full grip perhaps I would try them again.
