  1. First I heard of this was years ago with a tournament fisherman. He went down a bank with the trolling motor going pretty fast and would cast a Bagley Balsa Killer B crank bait. He would fly through an area for about 50 yards. If he hooked something, he would stop and fish the area with several baits. If not, he would pull up the trolling motor and go to another place. He said he didn't want to waste time in an area with no fish. I had a hard time with this technique, but by the end of the day we had plenty bass. That's what I understood as being in a "search pattern."
  2. I had my very first experience with a Jackall Iobee frog this morning: went out for 2 hours and caught 9 bass! Best hook-ups I've had on frogs. My "go to" frog was the Ribbet with a 4/0 hook, but I would miss about a third of them. Not so with the Iobee....only missed one hook set. Of course, 2 hours of fishing doesn't answer the question as to the longevity of the bait. I'll have to just wait and see. At $13 a pop, I'm very careful with it when I unhook it from a bass's mouth. The Ribbet would last about 5 bass before it gave me issues of sliding on the hook.
  3. I ride motorcycles a lot in the 90plus degree weather in South Louisiana. I ride with an EVAPORATIVE VEST, soaked in water. Cools you off as you ride. For fishing, I have a base layer of LD Comfort T shirt, Evaporative vest, and Columbia white long sleeved shirt. Keeps me cool! After a couple of hours, resoak the vest in water, put it back on. A hat of course, and either ANTHELIOS XL 60 SPF or MDSolar Sciences ULTRA MINERAL SCREEN, SPF 50+. Both of these are highly rated sunscreens....the first one with 3 blocks for UVA and UVB and the second with Mineral blocks, Titanium Dioxide, and Zinc oxide. Oh, and Costa Del Mars or Maui Jims....full UV protection with polarization....gotta protect those eyes!! I believe that covers most everything!
