  1. I’m not quite sure how it works exactly, but can tell you from experience with similar products on smartphone screens that it does make a difference. I’ve shattered the tempered glass screen protectors on my iPhone before without any damage to the screen itself. Would that impact damage of broken the screen itself if the extra layer of glass wasn’t on there? Not sure, but not looking to find out either. If nothing else it’s great for scratch resistance as well. Much cheaper to replace a scratched glass screen protector than the units screen itself.
  2. Just ordered two of the anti-glare models myself, had been looking for a product like this. There’s definitely cheaper alternatives out there, but I don’t want to degrade the image quality of the units with lower quality glass. Hope they’re worth it!
  3. Did you line the inside of the compartment lids with something? They’re not black like that on my Renegade, and I have a tough time getting decals/stickers to stay stuck on the inside of them.
  4. I’ve got the Lund Renegade 1875. Overall I’m very pleased with it. The deck space is enormous for it’s class and fishing with two or three people is very comfortable. Hole shot is lightning quick, top speed is around 50mph with an Evinrude 115HO on the back. Two guys full tournament load and livewell I get about 44-46mph. Storage space is very good compared to other comparably sized aluminum mod v hulls - although the storage on AJs pro v bass puts it to shame. I usually have 16 or so combos in the rod box, then a dedicated Plano box compartment and a dedicated soft plastic compartment. I do like the way that the storage is laid out on the Renegade - I converted the small igloo cooler compartment that doubles as a step to the front deck into a catch-all type of storage for miscellaneous lures and fishing accessories. I keep a larger yeti tundra cooler on the back deck for drinks and food. It doubles as a nice seat or casting platform for shallow water sight fishing. Boat handles very well and is a very stable casting platform, it doesn’t dramatically rock back and forth with two guys moving about the deck like some other aluminum boats do. I have an Ultrex and dual power poles, so wind issues are typically very manageable. It handles rough water conditions pretty much as you’d expect - you’ll probably take a bit of a pounding and in any real chop you’re going to get wet. I’ve had it out on a few larger lakes in some pretty nasty conditions - so far I’ve only come across one day on Lake Champlain that was a bit rougher than my partner was comfortable with (I hammered the throttle down to get on top of some 2-3’ rollers and he wasn’t having it). Never had anything even approaching an issue on the multitude of smaller lakes I typically fish. Compartments certainly aren’t 100% waterproof, but they do a pretty good job. The Lund Travel cover keeps the boat nice and dry and is very easy to take on and off - about a 5 minute process start to finish. Oh - I forgot to mention the draft - it’s insanely shallow. I think Lund claims 11.5”, but if you asked me I’d swear I’ve had this boat floating in 8” of water. It’s very light at 1170lbs so it’s incredibly easy to manhandle in the water. Launching and getting the boat back onto the trailer is a breeze and I pretty much forget it’s behind me when towing it. Gas mileage while towing and operating the boat are both superb.
  5. Yup - I’ll probably end up biting that bullet over the next year regardless, although I’ll also be interested in watching current 360 units in a fire sale ... the MEGA is nice, but when factoring in a whole new graph as well people like me will be able to save $1,500 or more by purchasing the older 360.
  6. Yup, G2 solix and G3 Helix MEGA units is what I saw as well. Can be networked to older or non-MEGA units. I’ve got a G3N helix at the bow, but it’s just a 2D/GPS Model, so I’ll need to upgrade to a G3N MEGA unit somewhere in my network to run this. Kind of frustrating that not one of my 3 helix units (all G2N or G3N!) can run this. I wonder if that’s a hardware issue or if a potential firmware update to G2N MEGA units will make it backwards compatible.
  7. Just saw the press release. Had to know it was coming... happy I didn’t buy the regular 360 in the past year like I wanted to. https://www.humminbird.com/learn/imaging/MEGA-360-imaging?utm_source=MEGA 360 Launch Announcement remainder&utm_medium=Ascent_Email&utm_campaign=3646833&utm_term=MTY5NTA1ODk3MDY1S0&utm_content=June 28, 2019&spMailingID=3646833&spUserID=MTY5NTA1ODk3MDY1S0&spJobID=801157383&spReportId=ODAxMTU3MzgzS0#utm_source=ascent&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=mega-360&utm_term=icast
  8. Saw this news earlier this morning. Just sad to be honest. I don’t feel bad for Mike, seems like he got what was coming to him, especially after threatening a kid like that. Just a sad reveal for the sport in general, not sure what positive spin can really be put on it... It’s too bad that money, fame and sponsorships get thrown into the equation and completely warp an individuals morality and sense of what it means to be a sportsman. Hind sight is 20/20, but you have to wonder why Mike Long never had any legitimate cast to catch footage of a true lunker. The age of the go-pro should have called a lot of his dubious efforts into the lime light but somehow he evaded even that. If Matt Allen can produce numerous videos of cast to catch on 10+lb bass why couldn’t mike long? Really makes you wonder. Anyways - I won’t be giving my Dobyns 784 mike long jig rod back any time soon. One of the absolute best in my arsenal. The guy may be a fraud but I assure you this rod is the furthest thing from it.
  9. Saturday I fished Whitehall from 5am-11am. No good bass, bunch of dinks and a boatload of pickerel. Water temps were 69-71. We pulled the boat at 11:30 or so and headed west to Buffumville Reservoir in Charlton Mass. my first time there, what a strange spot. We managed to do fairly well there believe it or not, my buddy and I each caught a limit of largemouth between the hours of 1-6pm. Water temps were 72-73 and the water was very muddy. All of our fish came on Texas rigged plastics. My partner hooked into the best fish of the day just before we got off the water around 6PM. It was sent about 3.5lbs and ate a 7.5” Yamamoto kut-tail worm in black color. I didn’t end up getting out for striper on Sunday. Trip canceled due to “high winds” ?. Obviously the captain hasn’t met me...
  10. Do I have to stop using my Dobyns mike long jig rod? It’s one of the best in my arsenal ?.
  11. Headed out to East Brimfield tomorrow morning I believe - if not there probably Whitehall. Looking for some striped ones off race point Sunday. Tight lines this weekend my friends.
  12. I’ll happily be dethroned, but if you come at the king you best not miss.
  13. I have the Cuda 9” pistol grip “titanium coated” stainless steel pliers. Had them for one full season, and love them. No signs of rust or corrosion so far. Great feel and angles/distance to deal with any toothy critters. Fairly expensive, but I use my pliers almost every time I go out, especially when using treble hook baits.
  14. Sooo with the conditions ripe we got at it again this afternoon. West Monponsett this time around. Different weather conditions, partly to mostly sunny this afternoon with no rain kicking around. Water temps at Monponsett were 72. We found more shallow up in the slop. I started off with a frog despite the high bright sun and immediately connected on four keepers in the first hour, including a 4.32 - again, all post spawn fish. The bite slowed down a bit after that, and it was my first time fishing there so we were a bit clueless after hammering all the available emergent vegetation. I got one more largemouth on a senko and my buddy got 3 more throughout the day, on a frog and paddletail swimbait.
  15. I got out Sunday at the Nip with my buddy - it was as I predicted and post spawn fish were just starting to get active. Overcast sky all day, on and off light showers and a light southwest wind. We both crushed them on a frog. It was hard to put them down, I also got one on a jig and my partner got one on a senko. We both missed more on the frog than we’d care to admit - they were really just slurping at it for the most part not super aggressive takes. That combined with the fact that my drag was FAR to loose for the first half dozen frog takes of the day tempered our numbers a bit more than they should’ve been. I think we boated 9 bass in about 5 hours. Only one pickerel all afternoon! He smashed my frog in a foot or two of water but other than that I helped fix my bass to pickerel ratio quite a bit yesterday. Water temp was 69-70. All post spawn.
  16. Quite the frustrating day at long pond lakeville today. Definitely some serious post spawn funk going on there. Our club held a tournament, I think there was about 15 participants - 10 boats 5 coanglers. The winner had 4 fish (no one caught a limit) for 7.5lbs or so. Your man Janderson here zeroed. I caught about 30 pickerel, and one 10” largemouth, not a word of exaggeration. That seemed to be the theme amongst most guys - winner had the guts to throw a hollow body frog all day long and caught 3 of his 4 keeper bass on it. Water temps had cooled down a tad from the previous two weekends I fished there, it had been 70-72 but with all of the recent cold rain this morning it was down to 68 and only warmed to 69.5ish. Was calm in the morning but a very gnarly south westerly wind picked up in the afternoon, I think we had gusts approaching 40mph. I caught all of my pickerel (in case you’re dying to know) on a squarebill, numerous jerkbaits, spinnerbait, chatterbait, Texas rigged rage bug, senko, ned rig, drop shot - I think that’s it but I may be forgetting one or two. Yeah. It was one of those days. Tomorrow’s gonna rain and I welcome it. I’m headed to the nip to fish frogs, paddletails and senkos all day. Who wants to bet I set the state record pickerel?
  17. Yup, here’s a link! And here’s the man who started the thread! I’m south of all of you but travel all over. Welcome to the forum.
  18. Check out the Mattlures bluegill, the little creeper bluegill, and the storm wild eye bluegill. They all have have the distinctive bluegill profile and are rigged in different ways. Bass HATE bluegill during this time of year (spawn and post spawn)
  19. Aside from my redwings I also wear 5.11s (Ems\military style 9” boot), 6” xtratuf deck boots (fantastic for saltwater boat fishing in warmer weather/water) 12” muck boot (large waterproof and extreme cold conditions) and 6” ll bean duck boots (great all around waterproof boot). Obviously I wear a lot of boots - they all have their place.
  20. The females will come in and do their thing on beds with males for a few hours - after the deed is done the female will immediately pull out (or in) to the nearest hard cover - if that’s not available they’ll drop out a bit deeper and suspend. Great time of year to fish docks and hard cover (rocks and wood) directly adjacent to spawning grounds to catch good females recovering. Treat her nicely if you do find her and shes cooperative ;).
  21. Redwings are the best boot and last boot you’ll ever buy. Keeping it under $250 might be a bit tight, but other than that they meet or exceed all of your requirements.
  22. Went up to Champlain (Ticonderoga) for the long weekend. Man do I love that place. The southern end of the lake was ripe for the picking. Didn’t get any real studs, but had a blast sticking a bunch of 2-4lbers along with numerous pike and pickerel. Water was warm (62-65 degrees), flooded (4 feet above normal) and muddy! The key for me seemed to be targetting submerged milfoil in about 6’ of water or emergent reeds in 2-4’ of water. I also caught a few off the plentiful wood scattered along the flooded shoreline. I caught them on a myriad of lures, with a chatterbait being the top producer but also caught fish on a squarebill, spinnerbait, jig, Texas rigged worm, paddletail swimbait and topwater.
  23. They’re all booked up this weekend unfortunately, I asked to be notified if anyone cancels. Any thoughts on Harry’s Sportsman Cottages? Looks like you can have a slip at their dock during your stay and just leave the boat in the water?
  24. Haha stop stalking me!! Was out there for most of the day, we had a slug fest on dink bass, small keepers and pickerel lol... probably caught 50 fish between my buddy and I on a whole variety of lures. Our biggest bass went a whopping 15” Caught a ton in the 10-12” range and too many pickerel to count. Found some males on beds up super shallow towards the end of the day. I didn’t find nearly as beds as I thought I would, the stiff wind and overcast conditions probably played a roll in that.
  25. Awesome, appreciate the info and will check into the Anchorage Cottages, thanks again.
