  1. I am going on vacation to Sanibel Island last week in June and thinking about going over to Okeechobee. So this thread is helpful to me as well. How is the bite this time of year? Thanks for your input.
  2. I have been throwing small (3/16)spinnerbait on edge letting it sink. sometimes they hit on the drop. I have seen bass come out of the Hydrilla and hit the spinnerbait 15' out.
  3. He is fine Muskogee just got wind and rains no tornado. Prayers for Shawnee and Moore.
  4. I live in Oklahoma, water temp is now in the low to mid 70s on lakes. the fish have spawned but the spawn was messed up because of the up and down temps. It is very difficult for me to catch fish right now. The bite is very poor. Good luck to you.
  5. well being from Muskogee, I usually stay south of taylors ferry bridge.
  6. Good luck. Ft. Gibson has also been really good. Fishing Jigs in about 8-15 of water in the rocks. If you want another lake that is good.
  7. I went in April had luck with jerkbait then, I also found a bed and caught the male off the bed. I also could see the female but could not get her to bite she was big. over 6 for sure. I also fish crankbaits. my favorite is to bonce a red one off the bottom in about 10-8 foot of water.
  8. <---------- my picture plus one more State- Oklahoma Water Depth- 19 ft. Lure/Technique- 4.25 soonerrun biffle bug on a hard head football jig. Structure/Cover- Caught over a sycamore tree that fell over in the water rock bottom. Weight and/or Length- 25" 11 lbs 2oz one more pic of her mouth had a growth on lower lip
  9. My opinion Water Temp is key. It will be tough to catch bass until the water temps are in the 50s. It will get a lot easier once they reach high 50s. Some successful lure selections would be Jerkbait, Swimbaits, crankbaits, and alabama rig. I would fish a cove that the water temp is the highest. I am not an expert just fish a lot. Good luck! and congrats on the new boat pro 170. I have a pro 190 and love it. I have a 4x4 and am able to put this boat into smaller bodies of water that I would not be able to put a fiberglass boat without getting stuck.
  10. I use to golf, but because of back problems and my re-energized interest in fishing, I have not golfed in a year.
  11. I agree. Anyone can catch a fish by using what they naturally eat. But if you can use artificial and trick the fish it is more of a sport. Not faulting those who do use live bait, its just not as challenging in my opinion.
  12. It sounds like they are on the beds. It also sounds like if you are throwing texas rigged worms and not catching em. they have probably been caught already and will be hard to catch again. Just what it sounds like to me.
  13. congrats!!! I know how you mean about the shaking. I caught an 11.2 last year (June 2012) and I could not fish afterward. My advice is enjoy it. For me at least it does not happen every day or every year for that matter. My last double digit before that was spring 1996. I released mine back as well it was hard to do at first, but once I did it I was glad.

That maybe the awesomest looking Bass I have ever seen. Only thing would be better if I was holding her. Congrats.
  15. Good Luck, Look forward to your report.
  16. no but after you go post how it went i have always wanted to go. they say it is not the safest place right now.
  17. sounds like to me you have your priorities straight.
  18. This Black with Rattles, I would through a Black Plastic of some sort texas rig with a bead between the weight and hook. the bead will produce some rattle.
  19. Oh man, you will be in a great spot. I love Texhoma, and Mcgee Creek. Eufaula is closest to you but in my opinion it hard to fish specially for large mouths. It is huge!!! Lots of variable conditions such as water clarity and surfaces. Good Luck. Its a little bit of a drive but Broken Bow lake is worth the drive.
  20. Chatter Bait! You should be able to catch some fish in Georgetown. Bass are a spawning if you could see any beds from the shore you could trough anything weedless and catch fish. Good Luck
  21. joeyfishes, what are you from?
  22. you truly are a genius. I love P line as well. it is tough stuff. I use 15 lb test places I usually use 20 lb flourocarbon.
  23. What part of the state and where you moving from? Welcome!
