  1. Ahhh, the best swimbaits for jigs are the ones that roll IMO. It makes the whole jig roll but there are not a lot of swimbaits out there that will do that at lower speeds. Some will at higher speeds but that's not what the fish always want. The color on that one still looks the beat though!
  2. that bass pro trailer looks golden to me!!!!
  3. i use 8lb on my jerkbait setup other than that its 12lb.
  4. hows the chronarch 50e for this? i have one im eyeballing and would use it for this exact thing.
  5. I'm right on the state line and last night was nasty. Kept dropping small twisters randomly. Don't think they destroyed too much though.
  6. cxx has less stretch than about everything but braid. its one of the lowest stretching, strongest AND worst handling lines out there. pick your poison lol
  7. thats what i was going to suggest. strip the reel and give it a good cleaning.
  8. i fished with an flw pro a few weeks ago and that's what he did. i actually rig mine excatley like the op wrote.
  9. i picked up a carbonlite ml/f 6'6" this winter and have used it for jerkbaits and i absoutley love it. it is just stout enough to work the baits and throw light baits but has enough backbone to hook a fish. it feels great playing a fish too, light enough to keep the trebles pinned. got several 3-5 lbs fish on it already and love it.
  10. Hmmm i have some rods that when a big fish is hooked like 5+lbs the line will make a ping sound on the guides. especially if it makes a hard run.
  11. that area just above the docks where the deep water touches the bank looks prime! especially with the docks close.
  12. your looking for the stupid rig, http://blog.***.com/blog/bid/74504/The-Stupid-Rig-Illustrated works like a charm
  13. Nope my other hobby is playing music.....and it gets along just fine with my fishing obsession. Sometimes the finances don't agree with both hobbies, but that's a different story.
  14. Haha it's about the ony thing I will use there. It's just too easy with those. Sometimes iI will get bored and throw a bitsy tube or a small popper or rapala, but those don't even come close for me producing as much as the bitsy brush hog.Ps. Try those on a drop shot!
  15. only on the back of a swim jig
  16. floated the buffalo river and caught +/- 150 smallmouth on an ultralight. not sure excatley the number i lost count. they were small with 90% being in the 8-12" range. did catch one that was 4lbs though. Was awesome on an ultralight.
  17. i would love the weight savings for a spinning rod. Most of my baitcasters are now micros BUT i dont run braid on those. I do on my spinning and dont think i would like the knot going through those.
  18. i had fits with mine when i first got it. i have the breaks set higher on it then all my other reels (about halfway) and set the tension knob just a touch tighter then what i set my other ones at. after i got the hang of it , it will really zip a lure out there.
  19. direct answer yes it would decline. how much? i have no freaking idea...... somewhere from 20-40% i would venture to guess.
  20. Did u rig it vertical or horizontal?
  21. Lol I thought I was the only one that bumps my rods on the roof! My wife always yells at me "don't u break that rod", knowing that I would have an excuse to go buy another.Don't worry bout the rod, the biggest majority of breaks happen in the first month or so. Any manufacturing defect will show up by then. There are very few breaks reported with the carbonlite and they have a good reputation. Just take it for what it was and enjoy the new rod.
  22. 3/16 and 1/4 most of the time
  23. 90 percent of the time a spook doesn't matter what size, just the one that is close. When that doesn't work I throw a lipless crank and then a jerkbait, usually an xrap or something that is flashy and I can throw far.
  24. i would say yes because there is more line to transmit the vibration through and more importantly larger line stretches less if the same brand eg....stren 12 vs stren 17. stretch is directly linked to sensitivity, same reason braid is sensitive.
