  1. I have a 6'8" ML/XF extreme and I love it. I have it paired with a Shimano Sahara 2500 and I use it for basically the same thing you're talking about. Most of the time I have a shakyhead on, but I'll use it for a drop shot as well. Its a very nice rod for a fairly decent price, especially when they go on sale.
  2. Sedona. I've had them for almost 12 years and they're still going strong. Bought two of the new model last year and can't say enough about them. Don't have any experience with the President, but seems like a nice reel.
  3. I got one of these a few weeks ago in 7' MH. Very happy with the purchase since I had a rod to exchange, and needed a reel for another rod. Essentially got the PQ for $60.
  4. The real seat is not the best design. I had a 7'3" MH and every time I set the hook the real seat would dig into my finger. By the end of the day it would rub my finger raw. Like someone else said, it didn't seem that secure either. I had to tighten my Revo S down with a set of channel locks due to it feeling loose. Plus, the third week I had it I was on vacation at table rock. Fishing off the dock one afternoon I got a jig hung up in a brush pile in about 20', gave it a couple pops and pulled back a little bit and the rod snapped in two. I was not giving it a ridiculous amount of pressure so I was less than pleased. Luckily basspro took it back, so I got a 7'2" shimano clarus instead.
  5. I have a total of 6 baitcast reels and 4 of them are lefty. I use the right handed reels mainly for flipping/pitching, but have no problem transitioning to a lefty reel for that type of fishing. Growing up my dad had both left and right handed reels so it was almost out of necessity that I learned to be proficient with both of them. I am planning on buying a 7'6" mh casting rod here in the next week or so and it will be paired with a lefty pro qualifier.
  6. I have a total of 13 combos. I usually use 6 or 7. But if we're at a lake where we target multiple species, I'll have more like 8 or 10. But mainly i use Baitcast: 7' M Vendetta/Revo S 7' M Carbonlite/Revo S 6'10" MH Falcon LowRider/Revo S 7' MH Carbonlite/Pro Qualifier 7' ML All Star/Pro Qualifier Spinning: 6'8" ML BPS Extreme/Shimano Sedona 2500 7' M BPS Bionic Blade(older cork handled model)/Shimano Sahara 2500
  7. I'm 30 yrs old and live in Gardner, KS. I primarily fish lakes around my area such as melvern, lacygne, coffey county, and lots of city and state lakes around the area. Occasionally when I have the time I'll take a trip to Wilson or even Table Rock. My preference is to fish for smallmouth, but I also really enjoy catching spots and largemouth. I'll even go after crappie, walleye, and white bass in the springtime. Love this forum, lots of great information and a lot of friendly people. Thanks!!!
  8. Shimano Spinning Reels, everything else i have a bit of variety.
  9. As someone said before, Pete Wenners is a good one. My family and I were at table rock two weeks ago for a week vacation, and my dad and I went out with Pete on a Sunday morning. We didn't catch all that many, but we caught enough. He gave us a lot of good tips as well, helped us catch a lot of fish the rest of our vacation.
  10. The niangua is a decent river if you're wanting to wade. In that river the area above bennett springs tends to be better for smallmouth. The north fork of the white river has a decent population, and a few decent ones. A few buddies and I were there around the first of June and we caught a few. I normally use smaller lures such as a rebel crawfish crankbait, white rooster tails, and bitsy bugs. There are several more rivers that have good smallmouth fishing in that area as well, the missouri department of conservation has information about the rivers on their website.
