  1. I'll be doing it within the week, so just let me know. The new 7'1" MH/F mojo is pretty nice if you're looking for a MH.
  2. You could call them and ask, but if it's not damaged I'm not sure they would do anything for you. But it couldn't hurt to ask.
  3. I definitely wasn't being careless with the rod, may have been a defect. Anyone needing to send a rod in to St Croix for replacement let me know. I'll be sending this one in and it would save money to split the shipping costs.
  4. My only fish on Ned last week, didn't make but about 10 casts with it. This one ate a shakyhead with a finesse worm, it was probably about 3 1/2 and a stocky 18" fish And this skinny fella destroyed a 78 pointer Doesn't have to be a big bait to catch big fish. I think we can all catch them on a variety of baits out there, with the weather and water conditions dictating things for us. There are just times when the Ned works well.
  5. Makes me wonder if some things I learned when I was younger have anything to do with this. From a young age my dad taught me to hit both left and right handed, and I did it until my sophomore year of college ball then stuck to left handed. Maybe there's some kind of correlation there.
  6. You obviously haven't tried The Fillin' Station in Lampe.....the place Clayton is talking about with the BBQ nachos. Honestly the nachos was one of the best BBQ dishes I've ever had, and the other stuff is very good as well. We used to stay at Mill Creek Resort and this place was just a couple miles up the road. You wouldn't think that a little hole in the wall place could have great que.
  7. I can do it without any problems, my cranking reel is actually a righty. I just prefer to use LH. I grew up using whatever my dad had laying around which was mostly right handed reels, but he also had one lefty that I liked to use. I can do an OK job casting with my left hand, but only if I'm in open water. If I have to be accurate with a cast it's probably not a good idea.
  8. 2/3 of my Melvern slam from yesterday. Forgot to take a pic of the 2 1/2 pound LM I caught. Caught a lot of fish on a jerkbait, but the big fish was the one and only that came on ned.
  9. Well then bring some crown and quit complaining. We can make some chicken fingers or something for you fussy people. I do like the shore lunch idea.... if we did it at melvern or milford we could probably have some fresh wally.
  10. I've got 2 of these in 7.5:1 LH and they are definitely sweet reels to palm.
  11. Any ML rod with a fast or x-fast tip will do. I've used a 7'1" ML/F Crucial, 6'10" ML/XF LTB, 6'8" ML/F BPS Extreme. They are all more than adequate for the bait. There are so many rods out there that are suitable for this and it really just depends on what feels good in your hands.
  12. I own both rods and I'd recommend the TCS. The extreme is a very nice rod, but pretty heavy when you get up to the 7'6" and above lengths.
  13. Good move!! We did the same thing 2 years ago, the 5 speed is not for me....
  14. Almost all of them...... I remember one that was just a tad bigger than 9" from there last year.
  15. Wish it wasn't an hour from my house.....
  16. I've got the 7'1" MH/F and 7'6" MH/MF. They balance very well and are not tip heavy. They seem pretty sensitive, although I was only able to use them once last year and haven't been out yet this year. I had to send back the 7'6" rod because the tip broke when I was flipping jigs around the garage. Must have been a bad rod because I wasn't doing anything careless and the line wasn't wrapped around the tip. St Croix is exchanging it so not really a big deal.
  17. Ok, was just checking.
  18. I've borrowed his rod a couple times, and it was awesome! I've got one of my own now...
  19. Are you looking for just a digital scale, or one that also dispenses powder? I have one of the cheapy $40 scales from basspro and I've been pleased with it.
  20. I just called and ordered the 6'8" MXF and the 7'1" MHXF. You have to call the retail store, and the rods are $50 a piece with $10 shipping up to 5 rods. My total was $110!!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. You guys are killing me!! I may be getting a couple of them today, we'll see if they still have the discount for multiple rods when I call later.
  22. I wish my store had the 7' Heavy on the rack, I would have bought one immediately. The guy behind the counter was even willing to swap a righty for a lefty reel but said the rod had to be one from the sale rack.
