Well now I called the other store across town and they have 1 Supreme MGX 30 size. Had the guy scan it when I was on the phone and it came up at $35, so I had him hold it for me until I can get there after work. I'm sure I'll have to browse to see what rods they may have on clearance.
I've had a lifetime combo hunt/fish license since I was 18, and it never leaves my wallet so it's always with me. So needless to say the only time I'm without the license is when I'm sleeping.
I had my wife go check one of our local stores today and all they had for pflueger reels was the president and trion, and they were normal price. For some reason our Dick's stores don't carry much fishing stuff.
Stocked up on Shimano Sahara's a couple years ago when they came out with the new model. I bought 5 of them from cabelas and gander mountain at $45 a piece, gave one to my dad along with a rod for xmas present. Some of the deals on the flea market have been amazing for me. Got a Lews Tournament MG and Speed Spool almost brand new for $150.
I think online is the only way to get them unless you live in Springfield. At our local BPS yesterday they had none of the previous carbonlites or extremes. The guy at the counter said all the previous model stock was shipped back to springfield.
I've got the Shield 9MM with the safety. Great little gun that shoots very well. Slim frame so it conceals very well. I've drawn the gun from my homemade IWB hybrid holster hundreds of times and not once have a I flicked the safety on either during drawing or holstering. They can be had for around $400 or less from Academy.
I'm curious to see the responses, as I've seen these Tournament Laser MG reels there for a while now. Seems to me they are exclusive to academy as I haven't seen them anywhere else.
The only rods they had left online yesterday were 6' MH and 7'6" H. If you have one near your area you could go check their stock, or maybe have a nearby store find one at another store and have it sent there.
Either way I would seriously consider the extreme. Really nice rod for an awesome price and it would give you some flexibility on the price of whatever reel you buy.
I've got a Cardiff 301A in the flea martket for $75 if that is something that interests you. As far as rods, I use a BPS Extreme 7'10" H/XF. They're on sale right now for $59 as BPS is coming out with a new model. I bought it from Bluebasser86 and the only reason he sold it to me was he won a free swimbait rod from another website. I really like it.
It was a short stocky fish. Of course we did weigh it on Clayton's scale, which he had problems with, so maybe it actually weighed more. Funny thing is he guessed the weight EXACTLY before we put it on the scale.
2014 Biggest Local Bass
Weight (or length if you didn't have a scale): 4.25 lb Largemouth
Lure: C&C Candy Bug Finesse Jig
Pattern: Flipped into a brushpile
Lake: Super Secret Pond
Time of Year: March
Disappoints me that this was my biggest fish this year, but it was a busy year with having our second child.
I think you have the right idea. One thing about the 7'6" carbonlites is the butt section is extremely long, so long that I took back my 7'6" MH last year because it just wasn't comfortable. Just personal preference for me but something to keep in mind if that bothers you.
