  1. I would look really hard at the Native Ultimate. They are a hybrid canoe/kayak. I have a 14'7" that weights 59 lbs... The 12 and 10 are even lighter. Very well thought out boat and easy to find used at your price range.
  2. I recently discovered carp on the fly and took my first sight fishing trip a few weeks back. Pictures and a report are in the blog I share with a buddy. http://yaknla.com/2015/02/carpe-diem/ It's a lot of fun, even on an 8wt. Those carp have more stamina then anything I have ever hooked on a fly.
  3. I have just about got all of the baits that I need until I burn through some... Until I got a BVK 8wt for Christmas. Now I need to fill boxes of redfish, bass and carp flies and will probably take up tying here shortly... Do NOT take up fly fishing if you have no impulse control!
  4. I have gotten big into inshore fishing these last two years. I don't use the elaztech saltwater stuff much, but is there any advantage other than the durability? Specks and reds (and Snook, I could imagine) can really tear up some plastics.
  5. I'm just teasing A-Jay. I simply couldn't resist. I do agree, it looks like he is moving that at a pretty good clip to get that action. I fish stained water 99% of the time so scrounges don't really play here, though chatterbaits do. I prefer to bulk them up so fish can find them. In south La, our "finesse" fishing is using a trick worm, lol.
  6. I don't have any reservations keeping a few for the fryer every now and then. Mr. Catt and I are from the same neck of the woods and its actually extremely common in south La for guys to be upset when they don't limit on "keepers" in some river and bayou systems. If I'm fishing a very small fishery, ill cull a few little ones every few trips. If I'm fishing river systems, I don't mind keeping a couple. Now... Spotted bass from our clear river waterways like the Amite River? Yummy. I use the same fish fry as Catt.
  7. I wonder if the Mann's guys are shaking their heads in disappointment when they went out of there way to make a soft plastic with more action than a scrounger and all anyone wants to do is put them on a scrounger... Lol.
  8. It's just as bad. Nothing changes. Look really hard at the Diawa Tatula rods. Any if their MH or Heavy action baitcast rods would be ideal. They can be had online for much better than retail as well.
  9. Entry submitted. Thanks a ton for the opportunity. Joshua
  10. This Louisiana boy speaks truth.Tell 'em how the only jerkbait we need in the spillway is a black/gold/orange 2ft diver floating rogue. But it does look good. I would fish jerkbaits more if we had the clear water to support fishing them. Sadly, that is limited to a couple big reservoirs 3+ hours away as well as some moving rivers that move too fast to fish these.
  11. Ill have to see it to believe it. I bass and saltwater marsh fish and standing in the marsh helps exponentially to sight cast shallow reds. If it has the stability of the BIg Rig (which i have fished for a full day) without the bulk and weight, it's going to really be successful down here in south La.
  12. How would you compare it (width, stability, and fishability) for bigger guys compared to the Big Rig? I'm 6'1 270. I was dead set on a Big Rig this year until I saw this. If it also has a stand assist strap and maybe a lean bar option, I may heavily consider it.
  13. *Arnold impersonation* I'll be back!
  14. XPS Tube Craws and Zoom Super Hogs.
  15. A few years back, I actually won a Pescador 12 in a raffle. I really enjoyed it and even caught my PB bass from it (see avatar)! However, I wanted a bit bigger yak and ended up getting a Native Ultimate 14.5 for bass and inshore saltwater fishing. I borrowed a big rig and went redfishing last week. I see one in my near future.
