  1. Well, I think you should have an opportunity at Lawtonka--the water may be a little cool still. I have had some luck with rattle traps thus far, throwing up in the shallows where reeds or rocks lie. As far as Ellsworth is concerned I never have fished it much and when I did I didn't do well. I beleive alot of folks like it for catfish though. You should give the Refuge lakes a try--you should be able to catch fish there. I am now located in the central part of the state and still get back to fish from time to time. I know there are a couple of bass clubs around there--just don't know of there names.
  2. I am originally from that part of the state. There is alot of good fishing down that way. You should try Lake Lawtonka particulary if you are a smallmouth fisherman. Lake Elmer Thomas is also pretty good especially for largemouth. The lakes on the Wildlife Refuge I like too and that is probably where I would prefer to fish. I like Quanah Parker and French lakes but there are many more out there too. Hope this helps and God Bless.
  3. So, will the SJR843 be able to handle shakey heads and drop shotting well enough or will I need something less stiff?
  4. Whoops---just saw that Gloomis makes a GL3 in the SJR843S---again, any noticable difference between it and the IMX?
  5. Thanks RW....your expertise is valued. However, could you elaborate as to why you would choose this particular rod? It does appear it may be the best all around rod; is this the reason? What about the the SJR842S?....would I notice a significant difference since it is a GL3 as opposed to an IMX? Just trying to understand a bit more....thanks again for your help. P.S. Anyone else feel free to comment--your input is appreciated.
  6. If you were to buy one spinning rod that could cover multiple worm presentations, which would it be? The presentations I would like it to cover would be light T-rigs, Shakey head, and dropshoting. Leaning towards a Loomis or a Crucial but wanted some opinions.
  7. If you were having hook up problems with the fat ika couldn't you just move to a larger hook size--say 5/0???
  8. Just bought some the other day. They are the 4" version. I was fishing them with a 4/0 Gammy EWG hook, but initally missed several fish. After I hooked the first one the hooksets seemed easier and I didn't miss anymore. However, I think this was contributed to a bigger hole in the bait due to the hooksets--thus my hookup ratio went up. Anyway, am I using the right size hook or should I switch to a 5/0 hook? Also, I am T-riggin it, pushing the hook all the way through where it lies flat against the bait...is this right or wrong?
  9. all of you have been a great help! I'll let you know what I get.
  10. Well, I thought the Mossyback rods were more technique specific (Jig&Worm)?? Are the IMX rods better??
  11. I am going to get a Mossyback Loomis BCR803 or BCR804. I am having a tough time making a decision. Help me choose one for most T-Rig applications. Thanks!
  12. I am trying to decide on a worm rod--I was wondering what a 4/0 Gammy EWG + 6"-7" inch worm or lizard + worm rattle or glass bead would weigh in terms of ounces?
  13. So, really wait and buy the GLX?? Is it that much better??
  14. BTW--most of my T-rigs are with a 1/8-1/4 oz. sinker and 7" worms/lizards.
  15. Thanks for all the great info......now, I can't afford the GLX series but I can the IMX and Mossyback. I do want a worm rod--which line would be best to go with? I really don't know the difference other than the IMX's are more $ and it appears the Mossyback are specially designed for worm applications? Thoughts????? Also, which of these rods listed above do you think would be best for T-rigs?
